I am hardest supporter of BJP but I am not happy with this project, as location of this port in Maharashtra but nearest mejor city is surat by time not by road. Investment from central+ state government but less benifits to locals , as people from Mumbai already traveling much , will not travel again 150 km , but job seekers from Gujrat will easily travel from surat, Then Gift city, then other cities as well. As North part of Maharashtra not good infrastructure so all benifits will be gone to Gujarat , company will setup manufacturing in Gujrat and use as Vadhavan as port only. Mumbai develope because no major city near by . Pune development because near port to Mumbai. I am not pointing Gujrat but Gujrat must invest some ammount in Vadhvan why Maharashtra only invest?

And yes it will not be beneficial to mumbai ppl. Also they are planning to create artificial island...so no eco logical planning seems. What abt local fisherman and their occupation? Also the connectivity from vidarbha to palghar will b beneficial? What buisness and financial opportunity they saw on this route ? Why can't they do other major development in vidarbha to create opportunities there . Or only Gujrata and surat is concern here

Artificial island/fishermen/why this area- its got a natural deep draft of over 20 meters allowing the largest of super containers to dock right at the port & not have to route via Colombo port as is the case today due to the lack of natural deep draft. JNPT already exists to the south of Mumbai and will soon be saturated. Such a deep draft was only available at this location, hence it was chosen. Bear in mind such projects cannot be undertaken without the knowledge and backing of the local community. 3. Occupation- A port of this scale will not only create massive direct and indirect job opportunities, it will also create a massive fisheries eco-system helping the local fishermen as well. 4. Location- Its 130 kms from Mumbai & 200 kms from Surat. I am not sure which sane person would think this is closer to Surat than to Mumbai. 5. Connectivity- Samruddhi e-way + del-mumbai e-way combination to reach from Vidarbha to the port. All connections are well planned and being executed. Everything mentioned above is open source information. Just some basic research & a simple google search would answer all these questions. Next time, do attempt it before pointlessly cribbing.
Brother, port site selected after intensive research of the geology of the coastal area. Surat is far frm port thn mumbai. Check distance by urself on Google map.
