Not disagreeing with you on the issue but we really need to start weighing local municipal elections more and start addressing this criticism towards them. In this specific case to push to hold elections but in general most folks living in metros skip local bodies in their complaints which allows them to be irresponsible and unaccountable and often misuse funds
The entire MMR must be developed with basic infrastructure, not just the western suburb part. Areas like Mira Bhayander, Vasai Virar, Kalyan Dombivli, and regions beyond Navi Mumbai, such as Panvel and Khopoli, are underutilized and growing in self-auto-pilot mode in an unplanned manner. The government must take immediate action to ensure planned and controlled development for these areas to prevent serious future problems.

This constant mismanagement wastes resources, energy, and public money. In areas like Andheri and Bandra, the roads are congested and footpaths are neither leveled nor clean. Andheri East, West, and Santacruz Link Road are prime examples of poor maintenance. Cement roads are uneven, and sanitation in many places is nonexistent. Andheri West, in particular, is so filthy that it’s hard to believe it’s part of a metro city. Despite ongoing construction, there’s no proper drainage system or sanitation planning. Monsoon waterlogging is still a massive issue, made worse by substandard drainage with poorly fitted iron nets and uneven bitumen layers. Even the cement roads in Mumbai’s suburbs are poorly constructed and full of dust. How can we call Mumbai a Class 1 city when its road conditions are third-class? This constant mismanagement wastes resources, energy, and public money.
In areas like Andheri and Bandra, the roads are congested and footpaths are neither leveled nor clean. Andheri East, West, and Santacruz Link Road are prime examples of poor maintenance. Cement roads are uneven, and sanitation in many places is nonexistent. Andheri West, in particular, is so filthy that it’s hard to believe it’s part of a metro city.
Despite ongoing construction, there’s no proper drainage system or sanitation planning. Monsoon waterlogging is still a massive issue, made worse by substandard drainage with poorly fitted iron nets and uneven bitumen layers.
Contractors seem to lack ethics, prioritizing profits over the well-being of Mumbai’s citizens. My mother left this city, citing its lack of improvement. I remain here for work, but I urge the authorities to address these issues urgently improving roads, drainage, and sanitation for a truly livable city.
