    As someone who, years ago, spent 3 years, (1980's), as a London Despatch Rider it is really refreshing to watch someone who knows how to ride/filter London traffic and gets the job done.
    On the rare occassions I ride in London these days I even see 125cc scooters sitting in traffic queues.

    I’ve never bothered to leave comments on a RUclips review but had to write to say thanks for such a comprehensive review. Easy to listen too, really enjoyable and without doubt the most engaging and “personal” review on the internet! (I’ve just sent an email to my dealer asking for a p/x price for my Bobber Black and a test drive).
    Thank you. 20 minutes well spent!

    The common thing in all Rocket 3 reviews, is that the first time any rider has the chance to open the throttle, they start laughing.
    That is the reason to buy this bike if such interests you - to have some of those laughs of your own.

    Just rode one myself, NOT hype !!! No it's not perfect but damn it's close. Not the smoothest suspension ever, ie; not as good as an Indian but better than my Road King. So much torque coming from such a smooth engine, so little drama when you overtake and plenty of braking power when you need it. With such a big tyre front and back, the biggest surprise was its agility, more than just good. Fit and finish is top notch and it is perhaps the lack of need for anything extra that makes it good value too, apart from bags it has everything you need and enough power that only a select few will find a need to fiddle with the engine.
    Your review encouraged me to go ride one, it is light years ahead of the old model and has made it to the top of my list. I'm a die hard V twin fan and had the new Indian Darkhorse Springfield lined up as my next purchase, familiar but better, much better than my Harley but this, this is just awesome.

    Makes me wish I was young again, the 3 cylinder Triumph Trident and BSA Rocket 3 of the 1960s and 1970s had heaps of power and they too were relatively quiet but that 3 cylinder hum is captivating. Now this beast has twice the engine capacity it must be wonderful to ride out on the open road. They can keep their Harleys British is still the best.

    Picked up my new Rocket GT last week and put 400 miles on it. The only fly in the ointment is that the list of devices that are compatible with the $900 bluetooth module is extremely limited. The only two Android phones are the S8 and S9, both of which have been discontinued by Samsung. My headset, the Sena SRL Neotec 11, is also not compatible. The dealer, Mosites in North Versailles, PA has refunded me both the price of the bluetooth component and the labor involved in installing it. Excellent Customer Service at Mosites. Triumph After Sales in Atlanta was very supportive and coordinated with the dealer. In addition, they are going to escalate the problem with Triumph UK. Be careful if you need the bluetooth! Otherwise, its the best bike that I have ever ridden!

    • @lorcro2000
      @lorcro2000 4 года назад +1

      The problem I have is that the GT is just isn't touring-ish enough. I don't want to give up my big windshield, lowers and big lockable panniers. Triumph should get on with making a real tourer around this engine. Make something that is as agile as the BMW tourers and still beats the Gold Wing at its own game, built around a huge engine with all the torque.

    • @robertw.1499
      @robertw.1499 4 года назад +1

      @@lorcro2000 Wait a while. The original Rocket came on the market relatively basic. Then the Touring came a few years later. This bike is long enough for everything you mention above. There will definately be aftermarket stuff flooding the market soon. The bike could wear a screen and still look cool. There are already 20 liter side bins for it, albeit made of pliable material and not rigid. My dealer has the TFC Rocket on show, number 380. Bought by a guy in Frankfurt. Wonderfully done and a real eye-catcher. They are offering finance on the bike for 3,5% for up to 96 months. Even without the interest, for the GT, it's still over 200 bucks per month. Not everyone who will bye this bike will like it. It's big and heavy, and if you're not experienced, fu*#ing scary. My Rocket Touring has over 380 kilos, wet weight. From 2008 and no safety systems like ABS etc. Will be test riding the GT when it comes to the dealer. We'll see 🤘Ride safe

I haven’t had a motorcycle for approximately 15 years - the last being a Suzuki 1200 bandit - yet after seeing the new triumph rocket I am so tempted 🧐🧐. I think its a beauty especially the chrome tanked model. I agree they r too quiet but it sounds alot like my 75 t160 trident. I know these are totally new bikes but they make them close in look to classic triumph but you dont have to worry about oil leaks and getting stranded

    Great review as ever, be interested in a direct comparison review with the Ducati Diavel. Those rear foot pegs are a masterpiece of design. Where I must disagree is on the TFT dash. I rode the Scrambler with that dash and I'm afraid I found the important information just too small to read. I'm a glasses wearer who needs distance glasses to ride but reading glasses for close up, must be loads of old guys like me like that.

      I agree that the information on a lot of motorcycle dash boards is too small if you need reading glasses. I tend to put on aftermarket clocks and ambient temperature gauges as the stock ones are too much of a faff to try and read - especially on the move.

      They're really very easy to live with on a day to day basis. I'm not trying to sell you one, just saying that they're motorcycles, like any other bike. Easy to ride (especially this one with traction control and electronics), well balanced, and very comfortable going down the road, no histrionics. I've seen women - normal sized women - riding the older generation, and this is easier. So it's really not necessarily too much bike for anyone - except of course it's not exactly cheap.

    Good review.! From a technical standpoint the 2.5L triple is stellar. The finishing looks great too. But, for a touring bike there is some critical components missing. I would like to see more storage and wind protection before deeming this bike tour worthy.

  • @lorcro2000

    They've shaved off lots of weight, and the old generation Rocket already feels lighter than it has any right to. It's beautifully balanced, get any Rocket up above walking speed and it's like riding any other bike, cornering is easy and stable, they just handle very well - especially for the size. I'm not surprised this is probably even better, they did peel off quite a bit of weight - surprising amounts of it really - and they already had the balance thing down pat. The big lump of an engine is low in the frame so the center of gravity is low, so it's only when you drop it and it starts to lean that you really notice that there's a fair bit of mass involved.

      As in the switchgear? There are some nice examples of machines switches you can buy, but it’d be hard to require all of the buttons on the rocket. I think they’re made for simpler bikes. But tbh I thought the finish on the rocket switches was fine

    • @jaycool75
      @jaycool75 4 года назад

      MOTOBOB yes the switch gear. The finish is fine. I'm not criticising the engineering I love Triumph. When I look at this bike it's like they took the biggest engine they could find and put a saddle on it! However! And I'll be hated for this, I don't like digital displays.
