I Tried to Get my Nurburgring Racing Licence

- In order to race around the Nurburgring Nordschleife, I have to acquire a special licence known as the DMSB Permit. This video follows my story of trying to get this licence.
This is of course a huge moment for me. After doing hundreds of laps virtually around here, I now have to face the track during a live NLS practice session and prove my worth. This will then allow me to properly race as part of the Bilstein team.

Scott Chegg going places

Always a good day when you run into barry r
Hopefully not turning left on a right hander
@@Nando_Floristor his ex wife Miss Shadow Realm 😅
Cheggers
I'm surprised Alex Albon didn't already have this license. Anyways good on him and hopefully his career will start going places
This is getting old. Quickly.
Can someone tell me what the black rectangle hanging from the roll bar in front of his face is? Is it a sunshade?
@@ewankerley4840 yes, it is shade like in a normal car.
@@WanderFeetChronicles ok and? you really felt the need to comment it every time you see it lol
Ikr, I was thinking the same
Thank you Bilstein for funding the content, and really enjoying this adventure Steve, thanks for bringing us along
Congrats man . Can’t wait to see some race footage. Ur living the dream , good luck
Congrats! I expected you meeting Misha at one point after his donation and "invitation" on your 200 Laps of the NOS, but never expected that. It's great to see someone I watched Gran Turismo Videos for so long, on the real Track.
Yeah man it'd crazy how it's all developed since doing those 200 laps!
Yes Steve, absolutely brilliant, you’ve come a long way from sim and kart racing
And please, pretty please with a cherry on top, get a full onboard lap next time! It's really nice to hear you comment on your own lap. Very educational!
seems like the Motto on this Video was “dont do stupid shit”😄 great Vid, congrats on the permit and hopefully see u next year at the 24h NBR💪🏽
Well done Steve, what a step forward. Greetings from Germany Germany 🇩🇪
It warms my heart seeing Alex Albon really making it
Old. Boring.
Made it out the hood with this one

Mate, you went from sim racing in the nordschleife to actually being there! I’ve seen your videos for a while now, so I got used to seeing you in the gaming chair. I’m mesmerized by your passion. Huge respect.
Thanks for bringing us along for this. I got into sim racing 2 years ago because of you and I'm so pumped for you getting your license
STEVE! Man Congratulations!🎉
Just wanted to say you’re awesome dude, love your personality and humor. I recently had some tough medical news and an unfavorable diagnosis. Your videos gave me joy everyday and make me stronger in a lot of ways. Even though it might seem silly, I feel like you’re a good friend I’ve known for years. You da man keep being a legend on the track you inspire me to be better! and Cheers from illinois USA ! ❤
Wow, you’ve come a long way from the Club 100 Karting when I first started watching you channel. It’s been an amazing experience seeing your journey and look forward to the new ones just waiting over your horizon. Congratulations and well done Steve.
Enjoying your journey vicariously. Wishing you best of British Luck. Done many laps at Nordschleife myself in a variety of machines, and it never gets old. When the weather changes, the track evolves, the cars put rubber down, the track evolves, your tyres get to temperature, everything changes, it's a constant battle to find the limit of safely lapping.. great great fun, and you'll have a blast. Enjoy & I hope you succeed!
As a long time viewer let me just say I’m really proud of how much you’ve done and this is such a big accomplishment. You are in the big leagues now and I couldn’t be happier to have been along for the ride
This was a really interesting video! Great to see behind the scenes of this process! Congrats!
Awesome to see this happening! From your karting videos to your first real car races, to now going to race the N24, amazing stuff!
Really happy to see you going through this experience. I love it because it's a behind the scenes of what can go to on to race the Nordschleife, but it's just great to see you taking your sim skills and actually bringing them into real life.
This is literally so inspirational man! Watching you winning races in GT7 and doing karting once in a while, it’s unbelievable to see that you actually have a ring permit now! You won’t believe how inspiring this is to many people around the world. You proved that you can race around the greatest track in the world, even if you start racing in a sim! CONGRATS STEVE!! KEEP THE SCOTT CHEGG ENERGY IN YOU!!
As someone who only ever gets to drive these courses in sims..this video was a pleasure to watch. Lol. You're quite literally "living the dream," and documenting the process. Congrats on passing the licensure program! Awesome content, as usual.
Such a proud moment for you. Congratulations and cant wait to see some footage of the race.
Congrats Steve and thanks for bringing us along for the ride!
Congrats Steve!! Good luck on the season and stay safe out there.
Steve, Huge congrats man. Long time viewer. It is amazing watching you grow. You're going places man. Keep it up. Between the sim racing, cart racing the charity 200 laps and all you've done. You're a huge inspiration to myself and others and even help some of us get through our days. Thank you! Good luck and keep winning on track and in life mate. 🎉❤😊
Thank you so much mate, really appreciate it.
Congrats Steve. Awesome to have that. Can't wait for to see you out there again.
Congrats Steve. Great video. First Forza, then GT Sport, then Karts, then GT7, and... straight to Nurburgring.
Honestly, this is amazing to see; such an inspiration man! 🔥
Dude this is awesome. Just amazing. The things youre acheiving and have already achieved like with your charity of building school houses and such is just amazing
So proud of you, absolutely love to see it!!
Seeing you go from a Sim Driver who uploads casual and funny content to a real life Racing Driver is just insane!
Well done, you deserve it, cheers to many P6 finishes.
Great work and really proud to see your progress. Best of luck with everything!
Congratulations Steve. You’re very lucky to live out real world racing. 🤙
Wonderful job Steve! Looked quite intens with the GT3 and GT4 classes flying by left and right. So cool to see your experience via online racing though. You really have a good understanding of what’s happening on track, and it shows!! Great.
Awesome man. Great to see the work paying off and the dream coming true.
So cool! I can't wait for the feature film "Gran Turismo II: The Super GT Story"
1:22 ! Totaly agree.
I learned the track on Assetto Corsa.
On screen, without your FOV properly adjusted, you totaly miss the elevation changes.
In VR, you see more of it.
But what is really astonishing is when you stop your car at some places (Ex-Mühle) and step down the car and walk on the tar. (yes, in VR, you can do that !)
You're standing up, look around and you're like "F...G hell, this is steep"
I wish you all the best for your upcoming race this week-end.
You're doing a nice trio and I'm sure Misha teaches you all his secrets.
I watch all three of you and I think you all deserve this opportunity. Sim racing is fun to watch but this is on another level. Can't wait to the next one👍👍👍
This is so cool. You are truly an inspiration. Going from Gran Turismo to Real Life Racing. Doing what you are doing now is a dream of mine and its so cool to see that it is possible. Can't wait for a Gran Turismo movie to be made about you lol. Keep up the good work Scott Chegg and don't go knocking on Barry R's door.
This is so cool I am very happy for you and your crew! You all have a fan in Las Vegas Nevada USA and he's rooting for you!!!
Always special when you upload. Good narration, interesting point of views and explanations.
Well done to the three of you & good luck with the racing in the future 👍👍
Soo excited for you and Jimmy! Wish you the best in the coming race! :D
Really enjoying following your Nurburgring journey and looking forward to the teams first race.
Get in there, Steve! Well done mate, congratulations! 😃👍
Well deserved! Well deserved!!! Congrats!
Ya know I’ve started watching you during Covid and how far you’ve come since then is absolutely amazing, keep crushing it and doing what you do!
Cool to see you making moves in real life. Thanks for sharing the journey with us mate.
Congrats Steve! Have fun out there
So proud of you guys!!!! 🤩
Very nice! Dreams coming true. Congrats! 🎉
congrats man ,. living the sim racers dream . Cant wait to see you racing
Awesome video and happy to see you and Jimmer, Misha getting race drivers! Btw. David Pittard is such an awesome driver and person 👍 Have fun and good luck!
You legend
I think what makes Gran Turismo special is the sheer quality of it all, especially in VR. To race those cars and tracks in real life would be considerably more expensive than a video game.
Congrats Steve. Nice work!
This is so awesome Steve absolutely love this and wish you the best of luck 🍀🍀🍀🍀
Can't wait to see more haha
Long ago I used to fly flight sims on prehistoric computers with just a few pixels representing the airplanes. As the sims got better and more realistic, my "flight" experiences made it seem as if I could really fly a real airplane. However, when I eventually stepped up and started taking flying lessons and flew real aircraft, I soon learned that sims can only do so much to simulate the actual experience.
I have driven thousands of laps around the Nordschleife in the GT series and it feels like I know every turn, bump, curb and hill. How does it compare to the real thing? I can't tell you that, but I do know that if the transition from sim to real is the same on the track as it was for me in a airplane, I can only imagine the thrill it must have been to actually race the real track, and that the sensations must have been ten times more exciting than anything a sim could replicate.
Congrats on your license!
What an adventure you guys are on at the moment! Very entertaining and inspiring 😃👍👍
congrats mate! enjoy it as much as you can !! :)
Cool to see you had a little chat with David there. Good luck Steve!
Good luck on your journey SuperGT. Do the sim boys proud.
congrats, looking forward to u guys racing !!!
Congrats mate..your a real driver now 👏👏 quite the journey
This is one of the most interesting adventures documented to follow! Really cool stuff! Looking forward to the upcoming videos and updates! Better than F1.
Big Congratulations Alex!
Finally the legend on the legendary track.. good job, mate.
F’n awesome man! Well played.
This is incredible. You're living the dream!
I'm truly (Sorry for CapsL) HAPPY FOR YOU 🙂 You have come such a long way. I remember watching your earliest Karting videos and how, not sad but maybe more frustrated over you had to stop due to economy. The same with Jimbo but I'm more happy for you mate. I've followed you since the early Forca vids and Im still disappointed you quit Dirt 4 gameplay😅
Some very good points you brought up about the visibility inside at the end of your 7 laps. One simple solution would be that they use a darker color like black or even go to a completely non reflective material on the rear deck lid like carpet. And the right side mirror was certainly useless as well.
This is cool! Congrats bro
Congrats on making the license, Steven!
Well done, keep it up! 🎉
So great to see this story unfold. Stay humble. Stay classy.
congrats my dude!!
I started watching you when you weren't any good a gran turismo. Now, look, dude is smashing it
Congrats brother.🎉🎉🎉
Proud of you Steve
GET IN HERE STEVE, THATS WHAT WE NEED
Wow! That is so inspirational Sim racer to real-life driving that is so badass. Well done. 😎
Scott Schpeed is ready to get a win in RL!... congrats and cant wait to see more of this.
Miracles do happen mate, get in there
I'm so happy for you. Dreams do come true
Congrats!! No turning straight into left handlers
You shoulda ran the track in VR on GT. You get a much better sense of elevation!
YESS and you feel that sensation on your belly, is REALLY realistic
So happy for you mate
Congratulations bro 🎉
Congratulations Steve
Congrats man.
Cool, so happy for you.
dazmn dude thats a sick experience, congrats
What an amazing Video. Thanks ^^
I just whish, that the camera would have been lower to see more of the track.
Anyways keep it up :)
Good luck. Keep it up.
This was a really interesting, good video!
The Holy Grail of racing license
But also the hardest one to keep
One Yellow zone infrigement is usually enough to get it confiscated.
*Stay safe, brother*
Well done!
"Getting on a buss.. probably the slowest lap I'll ever do"
Hmmmmmmm
Cheering you on from Norway!
Really excited on your behalf!
Let's goooo.... STEVE GETS HIS LICENSE. ME SOO EXCITED
Amazing. GG's bro
Congratz !! , next is to get the le mans one and put them together on your wall :D
I'm so happy for you!
