Awesome Saxon ranking, John! I'm a bit surprised that their newer albums were in your top 5. I would've expected their older albums to be in there.
This is one of the few classic bands where I like their newer stuff better.
The new Saxon albums are killer! Can't go wrong with Denim and Leather at №1! 🤘🏼🍻
I agree. I think they got better with age.
Excellent ranking, mostly agree, I definitely like a lot of the Post 2000 albums. Our bottom 5 are very similar.
Thanks that's awesome this is one of the few metal bands that has gotten better with age and I prefer their newer albums over there older stuff for the most part.
Great Saxon album ranking John! Damn they have a lot of albums!! Since the new one came out I've wanted to try them out, but had no clue where to start! So this video definitely helps there! I'll probably try the new one first, then the first couple of albums, and maybe the most newer ones. Cheers! 😊🤘🏻
I think the latest album is not a bad place to start. This is one of the few old bands where I like their newer stuff better, with a few exceptions of course.
@jcrockandmetalreviews Nice that's cool, I'll definitely start with the newest one and see where I go from there. Ahh yeah, that's interesting. Normally it's the other way around, but I'm the same with Death Angel! Minus the debut I much prefer the later albums. Interesting indeed 😊🤘🏻
I don’t think I’d change a thing:). My three favorite Saxon tracks are “Crusader,” “Princess of the Night” and “747: Strangers in the Night.” “Thunderbolt” and “Battering Ram” are killer albums!
Yeah that's awesome. They have some great albums that came out in the last few years.
That's a really good ranking.
1. Strong Arm of The Law (1980)
2. Denim and Leather (1981)
3. Wheels of Steel (1980)

6. Hell, Fire and Damnation (2024)
7. Carpe Diem (2022)
8. Power & the Glory (1983)
9. Into the Labyrinth (2009)
10. Unleash The Beast (1997)
11. Battering Ram (2015)
12. The Inner Sanctum (2007)

23. Rock The Nations (1986)
24. Destiny (1988)
To be honest, I could probably rank 4 thru 14 differently on any given Sunday.
I agree with that ranking. That early 80s period was solid.
The new album is really great! It deserves a high position! Greetings from Brazil!
Thanks. I agree. The last few studio albums have been solid.
Hi John!!! cool ranking and seeing the new one so high on your list..... they do have a huge studio catalogue and a couple of killer live recordings too. This year i have to get a couple of their studio albums in my collection, unfortunatelly the new one is really expensive down here so i will have to wait a liitle.... cheers and be well
Yeah, it is expensive here as well. I usually wait until the price goes down.
Denim and Leather, brought us all together 👍

Awesome top 10. I agree. Power and Glory is a little overrated. I ranked it higher than I did last time though.
Good video. I've only been listening to Saxon for a few weeks so my opinion isn't worth much but this is how I'd rank them based on my early impressions:
*From Favorite to Least Favorite*
Into the Labyrinth (2009)

The two Inspirations albums would likely make my top ten if I included them. Big fan of both of them. Some albums fell on my list due to production values.
Cool ranking. Good to see some of their later albums up high.
This is a killer ranking JC. Cheers
Thanks. Glad you liked it.
My favourite Saxon song is are we travellers in time. Prog but heavy
Thanks that's a good one
On May 17th, one of the biggest most anticipated albums of 2024 will be unleashed. It's by Slayer's Kerry King. Kerry King will be releasing his FIRST-EVER SOLO ALBUM! The album is called From Hell I Rise.
Awesome. I heard the single this morning.
Forever Free is underrated. I fully expected you to rank it low. Everyone does
It's understandable. It was a different sound, but for me it ranks low.

Well, I am with you a bit, but GLAM METAL was in the seventies! Saxon never played that sort of music! Please listen to glam! I mean The Sweet and Bolan etc???
I was referring to the metal of the 80s with bands like ratt and warrant and poison and Bon Jovi some call it hair metal some called a glam metal I just went with the latter.
@@jcrockandmetalreviews I am with you, it just keeps us as Metal Fans alive talking about stuff like this. The scene is still alive after so many years and that is a present, isnt it? Love you man! And i love Saxon....
