How Ian Anderson helped Opeth evolve their sound on Last Will and Testament.
Opeth's highly anticipated new album, The Last Will and Testament, has finally arrived, and I couldn’t be more excited! From the moment I heard the first single, I was thrilled to discover that they’ve brought back the iconic death growls and returned to their classic sound. But what made this release even more intriguing was learning that Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull lent his talents to several tracks on the album. In today’s video, I’ll dive into how Opeth has revived their signature style and explore Ian Anderson’s pivotal role in shaping this incredible musical transition.

Linkin Park Albums Ranked (including From Zero)
Просмотров 5152 часа назад
Today I'm going to be Ranking the albums by Linkin Park and I will be including the new one From Zero. I decided not to do a full review of From Zero because every channel and their mother had already put out their review by the time it was officially released, so I decided against it, plus I also was part of the panel for an “is it that bad” episode, so if you want to hear my in-depth thoughts...
Is Issues by Korn their best album?
Просмотров 5014 часа назад
In 1999, Korn released Issues, an album that I consider one of the best of their career. From start to finish, it's one of those rare albums where every track hits, and in my opinion, it stands alongside their debut and Follow the Leader as one of their strongest releases. In this video, I'll be exploring what makes Issues so unique in Korn’s discography. This includes the fan-created album con...
Why Joe Perry left Aerosmith after Night in the Ruts.

In the 1970s, Aerosmith was a prominent rock band experiencing significant success. However, the band's rock and roll lifestyle led to substance abuse issues that began to impact their career. Their album "Night in the Ruts" represents a challenging period for the band, marking a decline in commercial performance and critical reception. During this period, tensions within the band reached a bre...

The Transformative History of Queen and Sheer Heart Attack.
Просмотров 54714 дней назад
In 1974 Queen released Sheer Heart Attack and moved away from their progresisve rock sound to more of a radio friendly rock sound or the sound that most of us know them for, but this album had a few tracks that were some of their most important, such as their first top 20 hit in the states and a song that could be considered to be one of the first thrash metal songs ever recorded. Check out the...

The story behind the War Child by Jethro Tull
Discazo en la misma sintonía de ghost reveries con un aporte brutal de Ian Anderson leyenda y uno de mis artistas favoritos de todos los tiempos , gran disco 💿
Big Ian Anderson/Jethro Tull fan. Aqualung, Thick As A Brick, Minstrel In The Gallery... Great albums. Speaking of Prog, my favorite Prog album of all time Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway just had it's 50th Anniversary the other day. Incredible album. I'll have to check out the new Opeth.
Korn sucks
Songs were shorter but I still could listen it just like one track. Really strong whole album for me. I was thinking that now it sounds really strongly Ian Andersson. Beacuse when I was listening I didn't know (Or remember) that he was in. This album sounded really good in surround. Mikael Åkerfeldt talk so nicely often some artist and records that he like, so it would be great if they would release cover album. And not just Jethro Tull or Pink Floyd but something not so known. LIke Elonkorjuu mr. Finglish (Bäd English Recs)
Here’s my ranking 8. One More Light 7. Minutes to Midnight 6. Living Things 5. From Zero 4. Hybrid Theory 3. The Hunting Party 2. A Thousand Suns 1. Meteora
No.
Well, Jethro Tull does have a weird connection to metal, so I’m not surprised Ian was involved
The answer is no. The best two albums are Life is Peachy and self-titled album.
Like the album, definitely top five in my opinion
I don't think that's the real reason why Blackmore left. He had pretty strong control on the musical direction and could easily change it if it were the main reason. One of the stories had to do with the ability to play covers, specifically Black ship of the family, which he then did with RJD. He was more excited to play with different people than continue with the Mark 3 line up.
It is their best to me. The earlier albums had too much filler material.
My sister went to that World Series of Rock. I was only 10, so I didn't make it. From all the clips I've seen, AC/DC stole the show. There's also some good stuff about Aerosmith visiting the WMMS radio station.
To me its their 3rd best album after their first 2 releases.
i dont know, issues is currently sitting as my least favourite korn album
Condition Critical went Platinum. They called it a platinum failure.
Yeah, but it sold much less that Metal Health.
it's interesting... hearing how chester was saying he wanted their latest album to have the BEST songs for the audience (and also them) in his words "that will reach people who didn't know who were searching for us" - but... anytime we focus on the audience when creating content... we lose authenticity and i think that's why the album one more light was one of their biggest flops... it's much harder to stay true to your craft when money and fame gets involved... either way... he's still one of the best male vocalists that's ever served us in our times... appreciate the video JC 👍 i share the same view that meteora and hybrid theory are pretty much joint 1st for me... maybe Meteora swings it a little... easier to run being one of my fav tracks by them... but all time fav is 'waiting for the end'
Yeah, I agree with that. Meteora and Hybrid theory are almost interchangeable
Hi John!!! Yeah, i do remember back them when their first and second album were released and they made a big impact even here and yes i also think their big two songs are cool tunes, but not my kind of music..... right now i think the main issue with the band is the common question with many groups coming back with a new singer after the passing of their front figure. It's a "bold" move having now a woman as their singer and for what i have heard He is a somewhat controversial person. cheers and be well
Yeah, that is true. The new album is just ok in my opinion.
I didn't like this album when it came out, but then it grew on me. Now it's my favourite. Somebody, Someone is my favourite Korn song.
Yeah, I know I think that it holds up very well.
I don't think it's their best but it is the fondest memory for me at that time of my life. I think Untouchables and the first three were better by a hair, but I love it. I used to work in a supermarket at the time. Whenever I took a phone call in the back dock area I drew the KoRn logo somewhere on the wall near the telephone with a permanent marker, eventually covering the desk wall
That's cool. This band is very nostalgic for many people, myself included.
There is a (small) number of fans out there who prefer hard rock & heavy metal to thrash. And we all love Metallica's Load + Reload + S&M. Secretly. And we also love Countdown + Youthanasia + Cryptic trilogy. Even against popular opinion. In another words : we prefer Iron Maiden and Symphonic Prog Power Metal to Slayer or Venom or Cannibal Corpse. Because we love melodic metal, but hate punk. Is that clear enough ?
Yeah, that's true. Everyone has a right to have a preference in metal.
badlands was a great band. unfortunatley ray gillen who was a great singer had AIDS and spread it to other people. What a Demise of a great band
Tough call but I agree all killer
Yes, I agree. This is a solid album.
I've always liked night in the ruts. Good riffage
Yeah, I know. The songs are really good.
Hey I’m Christian
Hi Christian, do you like Linkin Park?
yeah I like the song Numb
I don't see Overflow as the shallow pop song some are describing. For me, it sounds more like downtempo, sort of trip-hop influenced, similar to some of the stuff Massive Attack did on the album Mezzanine (give the track Man Next Door a listen and draw your own conclusions). Hah!
That's cool. I've never listened to Massive Attack before. I'll check it out.
sounds like radiohead to me...
The two best Purple ballads (Soldier of fortune, When a blind man cries) have always received far too little attention. I've never understood why the unspeakable on the water smoke is so central to DP's work. About the Stormbringer album: A top album, without question. Not a weak piece, but a question of personal taste as to whether you like the shift towards soulful elements or not. People were simply too spoiled by DP back then. In my opinion, the album "Who do you think we are" was always rated too poorly, even though the songs are extremely diverse. Richie has always been my favorite guitarist, no matter what others say.
Yeah that's true. Those 2 songs are mostly known by fans.
Remixes or not Reanimation and Collision Course are up there.
I agree with this ranking, although I probably should listen to A Thousand Suns again
Yeah it's very different sounding, but pretty cool.
For the longest time I only liked Hybrid Theory, Reanimation, and Meteora… plus Xero and the HT:EP. This is where Linking Park begins and everything afterwards was different. I hated Collision Course, and Minutes to Midnight was boring so I kind of stopped listening after Transformers. A few months ago I decided to give their albums another go and let me say, A Thousand Suns is not to be listened to song by song, it is truly an album and probably their best work. It’s an under appreciated masterpiece. Also, for the OP if you include Mike last solo album after Chester’s passing, you can hear it’s mostly a pop album, OML 2.0. Mike’s career after One More Light is what bridges us to From Zero. It seems obvious he was the main lyricist all along, Chester just had the pain to put the soul into Mike’s lyrics.
When it comes to Linkin Park rankings: 3. Minutes to Midnight, 2. Meteora, and 1. Hybrid Theory. The others are interchangeable.
Yeah they will never top their first 3 albums.
All killer no filler.
Yes, that's true
Probably because he cannot play the guitar worth a damn.
Lol 😂
Living on the Edge is the only song that I can listen to from this shitpile
Pump is the only Aerosmith album "post" Aerosmith.
Yeah you could say that
Night In the Ruts is to Aerosmith what Diver Down is to Van Halen. In both cases, the record company pressured the band for a new album even though they didn’t have enough new material. Hence all the cover songs.
Cool. I never made that connection.v
Plus Joe kept some songs for his solo album.
Diver Down is a great album ! Maybe not VH's best, but better than anything Van Hagar...
Hi John!!! Well done and good amount of cool info/trivia too..... i have never been numetal music fan, but have this one in my collection, got it from a former coworker who got rid of a stack of cd he didn't like. I don't know if ot's their best album, but i do remember the huge impact they had and those two video too.... cheers and be well
Yes this has always been one of my favorites. I bought this on CD when it came out and I still listen to it often.
Very well done, ton of info for newcomers in just over 8 minutes :)
Yeah it was fun to make and I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Yeah without a doubt...It's crazy you come out with this video expressing this opinion bc just a few months back I was digging into Korn's discog again after not listening to them for a while and was thinking "Hmm which album of theirs would be the best?"... if i had to choose! ANd I decided on this one.
That's awesome I'm glad I wasn't alone in thinking that.
Joe Perry did an FM radio interview in Detroit with a DJ named Steve Kostan soon after he left Aerosmith. I remember Joe said he left the band because of the song Mia. Joe had been working up songs with a rehearsal band, which later became the Joe Perry Project, and he felt most of his songs were better than Mia, and he was resentful Mia made it on the album. Additionally, he said, almost all the songs on Night In The Ruts were old songs. He clarified that by saying Aerosmith had been working off and on on some of those songs for almost two years. He said that he wasn't interested in going on tour for 18 months and playing nothing that to him was really fresh new material. He said he was more excited about playing his new songs with his rehearsal band, so he left Aerosmith and they formed the Joe Perry Project. They recorded Let The Music Do The Talking and went out on tour. Over the years, I've heard at least a half dozen other reasons why he left Aerosmith, but this is basically what he was saying at the time.
Thanks yeah I can understand that I know the band was in a very bad place and Joe probably needed to get away and do his own thing for a little while.
Jimmy Crespo played lead guitar on Three Mile Smile and Richie Supa played lead guitar on No Surprise and Mia. They did such a good job that nobody knew at the time it wasn't Joe Perry playing lead guitar. Incidentally Richie Supa wrote or co-wrote several Aerosmith songs, Chip Away The Stone, Lighting Strikes, Amazing and Pink just to name a few. Checking out his versions of some of those songs is worth a listen.
Thanks, yes that's cool. I knew they were a few songs that Joe Perry didn't play on.
Night in the Ruts,a play on the words , Right in the Nuts, was alot better than anything Aerosmith released after Get a Grip
That's funny. I actually never thought of that.
For me their best with Life is Peachy and the first album.
Yeah that's cool. Life is peachy is another pretty good one.
February is loaded in terms of releases as on the 7th [same weekend as Dream Theater, Majestica and Jinjer], Obscura is back with their seventh album, A Sonication, and on the 21st, the metalcore legends Killswitch Engage will be releasing their ninth studio album, entitled This Consequence, which will be the band's first album in six years since 2019.
Yeah that's cool. I'm glad I have a lot of new albums to look forward to.
MK III created more evolved fuller sound than MK II.
I like Stormbringer. The A side may be a little too off from their root, but Side B is quite solid and hard rocking. Songs like Gypsy and the title track are more polished than Burn album. If RB had stayed withthe band, they would have made more real great albums
Yes that's true because I know the band didn't really do much after this. I know they had one more album after this with Mark Bolan. Then it wasn't until Perfect Strangers came out when they reunited.
Glenn Hughes pushed for more influence at this point, along with David Coverdale, as they were no longer the new boys. Blackmore also had marriage issues with his Wife, Babs, and was obviously distracted, but his suggestions were also frequently disregarded. The album did sound a bit limp, but the live performances were typical Purple - giving it 110% off the scale musically.
Yeah that's true their live performances have always been great.
Korn's Issues is definitely one of their best albums in their discography.
Yeah I think it's a condender for their number one album
Appreciate your fair assessment, especially given that you haven't heard them in some time. I didn't know what to expect when the album released. Got to see them debut You're Gonna Get It at 311 day this year and thought, "WOW!". Hit me in the face like a freight train. It's so good to see quality reviews of their work as I feel they've been under appreciated for three decades. I certainly suggest you check out their newer work in the 2010's with Universal Pulse, Stereolithic, Mosaic, and Voyager. All quality works.
Yes I was able to listen to both Voyager and Mosaic and I liked both of those albums.
Stormbringer is actually an amazing Deep Purple album and Ritchie's playing on it is nothing short of masterful
Yes that's true I like it better now than I did in the past.
