    I'm a hardcore Oingo Boingo fan, but this documentary contained so much information that I didn't even know about. Excellent job tracking down obscure facts, rare videos, and the in depth history about the band. I'm curious how you came to know about Oingo Boingo. So many people in America have only heard one or two of their songs. It's amazing that someone from overseas knew about this band and went to the effort of putting together this history. Extremely well done. Thank you!

    I somehow managed to locate a copy of that legendarily rare fanmade Oingo Boingo book by Keith Breese for $20 recently. That book, combined with this upload, are absolutely invaluable for 'Boingoloids! For all of the book's problems, it has so many amazing quotes from members of the band. I have to share this quote from Danny as it's absolutely batshit insane:
    "I won second place in the junior high science fair. My project was called 'Detecting Ionization From Radiation.' Back then, you were able to contact the Atomic Energy Commission and get strontium-90 and cobalt-60 in little vials. I used to steal needles from my diabetic grandfather and use them to irradiate flies, hoping to create hideous mutations."
    What a man. Weird Science indeed.

    Two of my faves: We Close Our Eyes and Not my Slave. Danny Elfman's voice is so seductive in those two songs and when his range goes deep, my goodness. You can also hear this seductive quality in Nightmare Before Christmas in the closing duet song with Sally. Danny Elfman's voice has quite the range.

    I grew up in Los Angeles in the 1980s listening to New Wave and Punk music on the famous radio station KROQ ("the Rock of the '80s") and Oingo Boingo was played at least five times a day, so prolific and excellent was their music. Oingo Bongo to this day is a big part of my life. Saw my 1st concert when I was a freshman in high school. And the last in 94. I've been to 500+ concert in my life from Skinny Puppy to Pink Floyd and everything in between. And Oingo Biongo was as good of show as I've seen. Other than great songs..Oingo Biongo were excellent musician. Since they broke up in 94 there's been a void. Because if they could have kept going to think of the great songs they would have produced is tough to swallow. I listen to them almost daily and will till the day I die.

Not having any shows to go to last summer really effected me. Of all the things i need to go back to normal are concerts. Because every year lost. More and more of the bands we grew up with stop touring or if they are planning to wont.
      I know Elfman was loosing his hearing. But id like to kick in the throat the 1st person who hired him to do movies. Lol. Maybe if he didnt have something else he would have continued putting out Music for Oingo Boingo?

      Danny himself had said he was growing tired of constantly touring and working on albums, and anyways I think he's provided other great music outside the realm of Boingo since then. Hopefully his recent singles are a sign of more like that to come, though

    • @scotttubiolo9028
      @scotttubiolo9028 3 года назад

      @@wuffalo I agree and disagree. Between the last concert until today.. Compaired to what he would of put out if he kept going with Oingo Boingo compaired to what hes composed with movies. I wont say hes put out anything good. Yes it maybe an award performance what hes done the last 15 to 18 years. That fine. To me if im watching a movie where Elfmans involved. It bums me out because id rather see his talents elsewhere. Id actually like to kick the person in the nuts who got him his foot in the door with movies. Your right whats been coming out lately is positive. What's the point putting out the effort with the new singles if there wasnt some bigger thinking behind it? And from my understanding Elfmans was losing his hearing and it was painful to play. He doesnt have that problem with an Orchestra. Is my understanding.i could be wrong.

I can tell you have a love for the band! Growing up in SoCal, the Halloween shows were a tradition for me from high school through college. Halloween, New Hears, etc. I miss them so much....but now I see Dead Man’s Party... they are really very good and the singer Rob really mimics Danny Elfman well.

    Enjoyed this! No Coachella in 2021 either. But he did do his Nightmare Before Christmas concert. He also released an insanely dark, masterpiece of a solo album in 2021 titled Big Mess. Elfman is a genius and nearing seventy years old, he's still going strong.

      Is Oingo Boingo in the 21st century sort of on and off for Elfman? Heard he had to stop touring with them because his hearing got worse over the years and cant imagine him losing his hearing that badly which could mean he'd never be able to continue film scoring

    KvashninRUS wow Great work i been a fan since i first seen the group at Santa Monica Civic in the early 80s It was their first as the headliners in LA I think. I went cus it was a Halloween show and something to do. I really had no idea what to expect but it was great the show featured the De Dios Los Meurtos Art style which was new to me at the time. What an Assault on the senses Many audience members were in costume too What a show!.
    This video really fills in the history. If your Russian great work to find all that material. Do ya moonlight for the kgb hackers? JUSJkn but its a treat to find all of the Mystic Knights material that you have assembled. I have been searching RUclips MNights clips i should have started here when it came up in the search results. This is outstanding Thumbs UP and Subscribed. I hope it moves up in the ratings so more people can find it.

    Thanks dude, they're so very underrated these days, especially the "mystic knights" era imho. I would have loved to have seen them in their heyday.
    Very excited to listen to this documentary, the band had already packed up shop by the time I learned about them (thanks to "Little Girls" being a meme back in the golden age of the internet) and in the years since my interest in them has just grown and grown, especially for the "Mystic Knights" period of things due to being a fan of a lot of the stuff they were and also because there's absolutely nothing like them in the world today and I think we are are all poorer as a result.
