(1975) The Mystic Knights of The Oingo Boingo on KVST-TV
A very rare video recording of The Mystic Knigts' early performance. Aired on April 5, 1975, it was group's first appearance on TV. Clips from it were used in the Farewell videos and Forbidden Zone DVD extras, but the full video was hidden in the archives, until this very day...

Thank you for putting all this together.I saw Boingo in 91 and 93 at Irvine Meadows and they were probably the only concerts that have left a lasting impression on me. I tear up when listening to them on RUclips only because of thinking of a lost youth. Looking back at music influences I’d place them at the top along with the Beatles, and Zeppelin. I’m sure others would disagree and that’s their right but it was my youth… not theirs.
I'm 40, so a bit young to enjoy Oingo Boingo as much as I do, few of my friends have heard of them... But then I came across "Little Girls" two days ago... And now I'm extremely uncomfortable with all my favourite OB songs.... Doing a little more research and Elfman was calling out the execs with Little Girls... ug morally grey, more research impending.
You do have a sexy accent.
Grew up here in LA with oingo boingo ! Legends
Thanks for this film. OB deserves all the love and appreciation
Capitalism - funding all other "isms" since 2,000 BC.
I just added it up. Danny is 22 here!
God bless you, sir! I’ve wanted to see one of these shows for thirty years! It was driving me nuts knowing they were out there, but not being able to see them
What a wonderful post! I have wanted for years to see a full performance of The Mystic Knights, but in the past, all that I could find were snippets. I just love it!!!!!!!!!!!!
I ate this up with a spoon. What a fantastic documentary!
I can't believe after all these years I'm finally seeing a full Mystic Knights performance! It's too bad about the quality, but about as good as you can expect. It's amazing this exists at all!
You and me both, brother!
@@mahatmarandy5977 woah, I remember you from when you had a fanzine/page! I miss the Boingo radio
@@reptiliansamurai wow! That goes back a few decades! I’m really happy to be remembered, and, yeah, Boingo Radio was great. I eventually had a falling out with the sysop, or else it’d still be running. Did we ever meet? Do you feel comfortable saying your real name? I’ll understand if you don’t. Still: wow!
@@reptiliansamurai i just subscribed to your page
@@mahatmarandy5977 Jason. I don't think we met irl, but I've gone to LA a few times to see Danny or the former members play!
Danny Elfman is the Mad Scientist of music ❤
The overlap of tf2 fans and oingo fans is almost a circle
Loved this. Doesn't anyone see? Danny is the Joker, and he made the Batman's music! That smile. Beautiful.
I just remember them from the pedo bear song
There are many bands just as creative and skilled. Oingo Boingo was promoted because they promoted evil.
cool what is danny elfman wearing
Oingo Boingo also like this quirky band with a famous author as a vocalist. ruclips.net/video/YZv9-AVpKsw/видео.html
I saw them at the Westwood Playhouse in 1975. They were unique to say the least. Tremendously creative musicians!
Too bad they never got their own Sid & Marty Krofft show.
How many instrumenst can Dany play? Violin, guitar, trumpet, xilophone… and what more?
Saxophone
Everything except the harp apparently
Please anyone remaster this 🙏
i love em smmmm
WOAH THANK YOU FOR THIS
Finally I needed this shit to get high off
Outstanding retrospective.

I love translating this to English
@@Satan_Wears_A_Onesie me too great for passing time
awful narriation and many inaccuracies. blocking you for misinformation.
Oingo boingo is like the cardiacs saner American cousin
Marie Pascale is unbelievably sexy.
1:07:27 shout out to Creature Feature, obscure, fun little band
Thank you for making this! It was super informative. I saw Danny Elfman in Irvine in 2023 and it was the best love show I have ever seen.
What a fantastic documentary on this man and his group...I can't imagine the effort put into making it! GREAT job!!!
NOVEMBER 16, 1980 - JOHN ANSON FORD THEATER, HOLLYWOOD HILLS: Oingo Boingo's 4-song EP was getting heavy rotation on KROQ. Suburban Lawns opened the show and the crowd went wild. Su Tissue was absolutely rivetting. On comes Oingo Boingo with Danny Elfman decked out in kiddie cowbody boots, hot pants and a holster with two cap pistols he kept waving in the air. The image didn't match their aggressive music. People were screaming for Suburban Lawns. The emcee interrupted the show, blurting out something like, "Give them a chance . . . They're your hometown boys . . . They've just signed with A&M Records!" That only made things worse. Thankfully, Oingo Boingo survived the day, and made some great records.
At Torrance High, we held rallies to send postcards too, but the Fountain valley dorks had more cash than even us.
Don't think i wouldnt notice the E-Z liste ing version of whip it at the very beginning... I love both Oingo Boingo & Devo and i was wondering if you would make a similar type video as this one for the spud boys themselves? I think both bands have really intriguing histories that deserve to be known. Cheers.
Amazing production. Lost footage and history. Thanks a ton. BTW ..I'm an old Geezer.
They played the movie Forbidden Zone on the back wall at 80s night every Thursday at the Upstage in Pittsburgh.
Great video! Thanks forbdoing this. I got to see Oingo Boingo in concert twice, once in 1986 and again in 1990 where Food For Feet and the Red Hot Chile Peppers were the warm up bands.
I loved (and still love) Oingo Boingo. Thank you for this wonderful and informative documentary.
Thank you for posting this
Well done! Awesome info!
Danny... Great, I could listen all day! Narrator... I'd rather listen to Bob Dylan fuck a housecat live with Neil Young and Fran Drescher singing backing vocals. Just an opinion I'm a Cold War Survivor and hate the accent.
The music's from the past, but the sound is from the future
The use of Wild Sex in The Working Class in Sixteen Candles is still bloody genius ❤
