@brrownyy94 he got lalonde fired because he is the captain, and he knew lalonde just wasn't head coach material, then he backed it up after with his play and leadership, that's called being a captain. You might not like it but sometimes players have to send a message to the gm by their conduct to right the ship, I think he has always proven he's the captain and deserved it from day one, and part of being the captain is letting the gm know when the coach isnt the guy, he got the job done, and now they are flourishing.

Watching Soderblom-Rasmussen, Seider and Edvinsson on the ice together is fackin bananas when garland's on lmao
The way the nhl schedules games literally robs fans of quality hockey
I think safe to say if McLellan had been bench boss from the start of the season, training camp, we'd be in that #3, or even #2 spot in the Atlantic. (We're only 5 pts from #2, which would only be 3 wins more than we currently have!)
If we had been playing like we have, 3 games is an easy ask. Especially against the teams we played then.
And it's only going to get tougher so we will need to see the mental fortitude the Wings have when they are playing the season's TOUGHEST schedule the rest of the way.
Go Wings!
Yes, will only be tougher. But if we pull it off, it will have us in playoff form by then.
@@thefamilymans2545 Yup.

Only 8 points behind 1st place Florida in the Atlantic!

they will collapse. team is fraudulent and getting dominated in the play every game.
@@paulwt9783they can win without your precious Daddy Kane 😂
@@paulwt9783 As a RW fan since the Dead Things era, I want to be realistic here. I have seen some really terrible teams and seen some that looked like the HOF collection. The current team is neither a final four contender nor is it as bad as December. I see this as a team that will finish somewhere between 89 and 93 points. Will not be enough to be in the playoff? No one knows at this point given how the Atlantic is this year.
@@paulwt9783so you'd be happy with a collapse? Wow, what origination do u work for? Leafs? They collapse all the time.
AMAZING BOYS 6 WINS😮
Remember the legs were dead too on a back to back. Ice also looked off. U could see a bunch of bouncing pucks and guys falling
I looked at the standings.... just stared at it for almost a minute, letting it sink in that we went from the bottom of the basement steps, and have climbed up near the upstairs. It feels good. It feels good that the team looks like they 'believe' in themselves. But let's be a bit realistic... they are capable of stumbling and falling back down the stairs again. But right now.... 'the KIDS' are looking damn good !!
Can’t wait until we start climbing the stairs to the second floor

@@gregorybiestek3431 We might squeeze into the playoffs but I won’t be happy about how we do it. The bar is so low we can trip into the playoffs and our reward will be getting pile driven into the earth’s crust in round one. I do hope we actually get there for Larkin’s sake this year. That guy deserves a legendary second half of his career
@gregorybiestek3431 yep.... lived through the Dead Wings era too.
Not even close to upstairs lololol
I saw Soderblom in the second line in the third.
Todd isn't afraid of mixing things up for sure.
Was Kane going in with Ras and Soderblom in the third line instead of Bergers
Soderblom and Rasmussen together are killing it, but I much prefer Berger on that line to senko. I think they really need to try to move vlad. He just doesn’t fit on this team. I was excited about the singing and kept holding out hope, but with the emergence of Kasper and soderblom, I don’t think he has a place on a healthy roster. Anyway, huge win, huge road trip. Leaning far too much on the goalies lately, but wins are wins. Let’s keep rolling! LGRW
hes had all kinds of great scoring chances and is creative out there... just can't put anything past a goalie
@@kaybee55no doubt. He’s not a bad player, and I think he would be a boost to another team, but when compher is healthy, I think senko would be the first guy I’d scratch most nights. Soderblom has been great with ras. Compher is better defensively and can take draws. I just see him as the guy being shifted up and down trying to get him going and it’s just not happening
I am all for trading tarasenko at this point. He is even being fair to himself at this point in the way he is playing. Maybe it was the number change, who knows. But we got other options than him at this point. Move him and get something good in return.
Sorry to learn about injury to Jeff Petry. As unfortunate as that is it does create an opening to add at least one necessary piece take a run at "it".
The last time I was here, I was griping about the abysmal state of this team right along with you two.. Amazing turn around but lots of works to be done still.
6 in a row 👏🏼
Question to all Yzerman haters- do you finally realize what his plan is & why he always says - wait and see?
Other question, how dominant do you guys think this D Core will be in the next years ?
AlJo - Seider
Ed- ASP
Question to the Yzerman truther.. why wait until the team was 4 points out of dead last in the nhl to make a coaching change? Stevey wonder could see this team quit on lalonde back in November. Why did it take Steve Yzerman until basically January to make a move?
@@WhiskyandWings Definitely a fair point.
Detroit, as far as I know, has never fired a coach in-season...maybe that's why.
On the other hand - you just have to understand that Yzerman doesn't see this team in the top 3 for at least 2 years.
Definitely understand that side of the fans though, because it's 10 years then with no playoffs....
However, I'd rather wait & look at some stupid contracts for players because I understand his vision with the young players & those contracts won't have anything to do with it anymore.
@@brrownyy94 that coaching stat is within the illitch family's ownership of the team. They've fired 1 (now 2 counting lalonde) coaches mid season since they've owned the team. And those old player contacts are nothing more than stoppers for any kid trying to come up. We'll see if they keep tarasenko on the roster if mazor starts to light it up in gr now that he is back healthy and playing.
@@WhiskyandWings Okay, thanks. I didn't know that.
Yeah well, dead player. But be honest, did you expect him to play so badly when he was brought in?
@@brrownyy94 frankly yes.. he wasn't very good playing for ottawa. Pretty sure he was a fixture on their 3rd line and when he was traded to Florida he was basically a ghost during their cup run. The fact Steve gave him a full no trade clause this year is terrible
This team is better without Petry and Cumpher.
We are only paying $2.34 million of Petrys contract
I caught that 7 mil number too. I think he was referring to total cap space after all the IR stints ppl have gone through. Cap accrues every day(or game?) that they miss.
I am fully locked into raymond being the best and definitely the most exiting red wing atm
Raymond has been invisible the last few games. The goalie is the best Red Wing ATM and about the only good one.

Can we healthy Vlad and play Shiner for a couple games?
Couldn't agree more. Get some grit on the forecheck.
Red Wing fans gotta be the only fanbase in sports to be going on a run and still be upset. I don’t understand how you guys are so miserable

Put Shine and send Tarasenko to GR
Full no move clause says, 'not going to happen"
@joechriste7052 good to know.
And no, shine has earned his spot.
Play Journey!
Don't think we see Petry in a Red Wing uniform again.
Veteran presence is always welcomed and players don’t lose their spot due to injury.
Where’s the shades Scotty. lol😎
I've liked what I've seen from Shine more than Motte for sure.
I was good on Motte from the preseason. I wasn't sure how he got a roster spot.
Soderblom has been our best player since hes been up.
That's not true at all, friend. It's great to see him but Raymond, larkin, talbot, Moritz I mean they have all been stacking bodies and points.
Scratch Tersenko and put Motte in. Or bump Tere down and put Soderblom on the 2nd line.

Brian, Saturdays game was against Calgary bud 😂
my first thought: we are so back
maybe. As others have pointed out, the Wings still have not so good 5 on 5 stats. That tends to regress to the mean eventually, meaning they are still a 500 team in the long run.
Canadians in Vancouver (and in other Canadian cities) booing while the U.S. national anthem is played for the Red Wings.

Where’s all the Yzerman haters??
Why are we all jolly acting like this team has a snowball chance in hell ?? Red Wings will do like always, have a good enough record to compete for wild card, will end up missing playoffs AGAIN, and be JUST GOOD ENOUGH to get the 10-20th overall draft pick and not land a player that can contribute for at least 3-5 yrs..... rinse and repeat .....the "Yzerplan" ladies and gentleman
Detroit need one more good defensemen . The Red Wings play much much better .
Trade taresenko and keep shine up. Vlad is not a fit on this team and lost his game.
i cant believe how long it took to get rid of Lalonde.. it was painfully obvious last year
Yzerman is next at this pace.....
Now that we have an able coach, imagine how much better off we would be with a smart GM.....
With people like you, even if we did win the cup soon, you still won't be happy.
Yzerman and his cronies have held the Wings back for several years. Maybe the worm is turning.
Thank you Laffs fan for joining the discussion. Maybe you should crawl back under your rock.

Kane gotta be shelved or traded, he's a liability.
What ? 😂
Stupid statement.
Good thing you are not our gm, I'd have to move to a different team.
fools gold, team will have a huge collapse the last 30 games. they are being dominated analytically every game lately as McLellan's system gets more installed and he stifles the offensive creativity - just like Lalonde. the dominant goalie play and clutch goals will dry up and the overall play will determine outcome. oh and the power play will never go on a heater again bc he has destroyed Kane over one bad period. you will not get that player back. 2nd line will also never be good again.
@@paulwt9783 growing pains
6 game heater and your daddy hasn't been a contributing factor in any of it.

@@WhiskyandWings it's not a heater. it's fools gold goalie wins. they're getting destroyed in the analytics every game. the way Kane had them winning during the 8-1 stretch was actually sustainable. good luck winning anything of note wo a functioning power play or 2nd line, genius.
Todd McLellan has been a head coach a long time and has never even appeared in a final. He's not very good.
