Japhet wanted to be struck down, it's the only way his pain and guilt will end. There's something that resembles happiness in knowing The Batter will undoubtedly carry this out. That's what this song says to me.
That's why he is my favourite character of the game. He was good but then turned evil because people didn't apreciate him. Then he knew that the batter was after him and didn't run, he accepted his fate.
I especially feel that in the more desolate sounding part at 0:54, it's almost like you can feel Japhets pain, knowing he's failed at his position taking care of people despite how hard he tried to uphold such a safe and secure livelihood for them before. I think he truly means to atone for what he's done by dying in honorable combat at the hands of the Batter in the story, even if it doesn't really fix anything, I think he feels he truly deserves that fate. Most of all I think this is portrayed in the outro to Japhet's theme, not found in this loop. The ambient chirping returns as the main track is replaced by a gentle, calm piano melody, almost as if Japhet does find peace in his own death.
This battle really felt disturbing in the Judge's eyes. Just seeing this bird slowly grow out of his brother's mouth and tearing him apart as it has now become the phoenix guardian...

+marcus petersheim You sure? When you go back to the Zone after purification, the Judge seems completely clueless to the fate of Valerie, asking "Have you seen my dear brother?" and envisioning his own echoes being meows of him. *He doesn't seem to have any idea that his brother died, and is still calling for him.*
I believe Japhet's story is also an unfortunate one. He gave his people all they could ever want, and they basically turned on him. They became so careless, that they forgot everything about Japhet in their own self-induced fears. Even if his reaction to this was cruel, I believe his feelings were quite justified. On top of that, Japhet had known the whole time that someone would come to kill him even before any of this transpired, which contributes to his misfortune.
Beautiful song. It's threatening, majestic, harmonious, tragic, all sorts of fancy things like that, and I love it. and those drums are fucking bopping lol
As much as I hate what he did to Valerie, I cannot help but feel bad for Japhet. He had done so much for Zone 2. And eventually the residents of the zone stopped caring about him. Even after all he did. Japhet wants The Batter to kill him, it makes sense how he took over Valerie's body and killed him, so that the player would hate him and kill him aswell. And the way he dies in NEW, it's just... Awful...
I wager the drums are actually instruments known as darbukas, mostly known in North Africa, if not mistaken, which makes sense, given the French orientation of this game.
They are named after the pitches of ones singing voice. Soprano being the highest pitch for a female, tenor being the slightly higher than normal pitch of a male.
"There remained nought but to await the purifier, the man who would rise up to destroy him. For at the bottom of his soul, he knew; What he had done was evil."
You must understand... those fools... they only care about their own pathetic hassles! I did everything for them! They are like my own, countless children... And like all disrespectful children, they must be punished.
The reason the bells so odd and "off-pitch" while the strings and a few other instruments sound "tragic" at certain parts, while Japhet had good intentions in mind (which is the tragic part), he did a ton of shit wrong. (which is the off-pitch part)
Judge-y the pudgy have you seen how much that cat eats at the beginning, you could stand there for a week and he'd be eating the whole time. isn't that unhealthy?

Japhet essentially became a well-intentioned extremist.

Strange thought that the common spectres are only seen once in the game.

I was under the impression that the Judge was just in incredible denial after the event, determined that his brother is still alive.
+IblisFire666 You can find him on the rooftop on purified zone 2

This song sounds and feels really majestic.

fun fact: all of japhet's attacks are named after different music terms. I dont remember what they were exactly however
They are named after the pitches of ones singing voice. Soprano being the highest pitch for a female, tenor being the slightly higher than normal pitch of a male.
Japhet is a song bird, I think
Mystic Ice fire no he says he is "the millennial fire bird" so he's basically a Phoenix
froggy frog yea, I know, I was talking about him when he was in the room.. although, my memory is a bit foggy.. so..
ohhh you mean like the small version in the room...well he does make little bird noises but I'm pretty sure he's like a phoenix or whatever .
"midnight at full speed" sounds like a spin-off sonic character catchphrase

Kiwi Kanza Not to forget that his people turned against him.

Mystic Ice fire And that is because he felt underappreciated by the Elsen.
