  • I was asked to show this cabinet foot in slow motion so I’ve slowed it by just 25% so it’s easier to see the tool action but not too long. I added a voice over. NOT A TUTORIAL Woodturners are responsible for their own safety. Don’t attempt anything you don’t feel comfortable with. I used to make hundreds of these in the height of the pine furniture, I only make a few now due to copy lathes and the demise of pine furniture manufacturers here
Using Ashley Iles 1” Skew, Sorby 1 1/4” spindle roughing gouge and 1/2” spindle gouge.

Can't believe how close you run that skew without a snatch....

I think it looks closer due to the camera angle but yes experience let’s me get closer than many.

Could you show us how to speed up the sanding in real life? That would be a neat trick. :-)

Haha. Steve did show one catch several years ago. He said it was his one and only catch on camera. He's a "skew" magician and has shown thousands of woodturners the importance of the skew, despite its challenges. Salute to Steve from Canada.

Thanks and you are correct I did show the catch I videoed. It’s rare but happens. The crazy thing was that the piece I had the catch on was claimed by a viewer who wanted it. 🤣 Brian I’ll show the next one I catch on video.
