When you KNOW that they are hundreds of miles apart, Know that they are "alone" at the table, Know that there are no instruments - And they sell with every glance, every card toss, every harmony that they are sitting around a table on poker night, just chillin out and taking each others money and singing along with the radio. They are excellent showmen and performers.

I thing Home Free did Kenny proud! Love that Chance had main lead because of his style of choice lent well to the song. Harmonies and background harmony overlays were awesome! I love how they did the video and thought it was darned great considering they’re still not recording videos together! I don’t know if y’all know, but Adam’s wife just had their baby boy on the 21st. Love your reaction, and your honest opinion, Christina!

I agree Dennis & Christine, Adam was the star and pulled this video together with the beatboxing. By the way Adam's wife just gave birth on Friday to a beatboxing baby boy. So just like Rob, he & Mrs Rupp have a little girl & boy now. As parents yourself I know that's kinda special to y'all !!! As always a great Home Free reaction. God bless y'all !

I like this better every time I hear it. The first time I had trouble not holding it up in that special space with Kenny. They really did do a great job and I love it. Thanks for waiting so we could see the reaction.😊🥰Love ya'll and HF.

Sawyer Brown actually did a cover of this song on their channel as Kenny & Dolly were Sawyer Brown's FIRST act they opened for after winning on Star Search so they became really close friend's with Kenny. Their cover is really good too.

No one can replace the voice of Kenny Rogers!! I was also concerned to hear this one just because of Kenny. But also I know how much they respected him and he did Home Free.So I knew they would not try to duplicate in any way Kenny, but they always do a great job just because they are Home Free. And that's just what they do!!! Loved Chance especially on this. Take care.

Kenny Rogers wasn't even the first person to record The Gambler. Johnny Cash actually recorded a version of it before Kenny but it was Kenny's that became a mega hit.

You guys would absolutely love the 2008 tv show "Leverage" (Timothy Hutton - it's my favorite tv show). It does a great reference to this song and has as a main character the amazing actor and country artist Christian Kane. I highly recommend you watch - especially as a #Minnesotan who is both a #HomeFry and a #Kaniac

Believe it or not, there have been many artist who have recorded this song. but none of their versions were well received. The song was written by Don Schlitz in 1976 and the first artist who recorded it was Bobby Bare in 1978. His version failed and so Schlitz tried to record it himself, which again failed. Even Johnny Cash tried all in the same year and his version too failed to get legs. It wasn't until Kenny Rogers put out his version, again in that same year 1978, that the song became a Country No 1 hit. Since then even more artists have tried singing the song, artist as popular as Blake Shelton, but Kenny's version is still the one. I think Home Free did a great job of changing up the song, making it their own but yet still staying true to Kenny's version. I agree with you, for some reason this will always be Kenny's song but I give Home Free props for their version. Very enjoyable.
There's two places that Christina may be referring to where they changed it up, one is in the second verse, near the middle of the song where they sing "Every Hands a Loser" and Rob goes high on the "Every" and then comes down on each word, There's another place where they do a similar thing with "Sittin At the Table" it's a little later in the song and I think Austin does it. Around mark @4:50.

I think this was one song they didn't WANT to do better than the "original" (read Kenny's, because JC did it first), it was a true tribute to Kenny and the Ace he gave them. Kenny told them to cherish their show rise to the top, because a fan base grown through love and appreciation over time stays fort longer than an over night, one hit wonder, gained fan base does. They did this out of pure love, and Kenny was their Gambler. That's my to wake on why they did this song. They didn't try to be better than him, and nobody can, not they sure did a fantastic job. While I love Kenny's version this is in my playlist, his isn't. Because it's "outdated" in my ears. This bright new life to it. Thanks for a great reaction! Oh, and Christina, that moment you mentioned was noticeable, it was the only time you dropped your focus on the song and smiled. 🥰🙏

Three main things about this song for me:
    * the way they, as an a cappella group, handled the a cappella chorus near the end (except that I think Tim held the bass note from the previous verse two beats too long at the beginning); and
    * Tim's walkup out of the a cappella chorus into the final chorus--my dad used to sing parts like that when I was a kid; and
    * The tiny eyebrow thing Chance did during his "I found an ace that I could keep" line. If I were a girl I'd probably throw my panties at him.
If I were to pick nits, I'd say I think they left the accompaniment thin for too long at the beginning and should have thickened it sooner; but that's probably just personal preference.

The talk about a classic and not touching it is exactly what I was thinking about too. This is one of those songs that the original is so iconic. It is very well done but it still sounds a little goofy to me because it is so different from the original, and for this reason it is not my favorite of there's. But I give them props to trying it and still love Home Free.

It wasn't Kenny's original, but he fit the song and everyone thinks of him because he made it his song. When I think of Kenny Rogers, I think of "The Gambler" and the song he and Dolly did "Islands In The Stream" the most.

Hey Y'all, I like this video. Let me get that out first. Christina, like you said, there are certain "classics" that if you're going to try it, you better nail it. I believe Home Free did a great job on this song. I do, however, think it would have been better with just 1 lead singer (Chance). His voice just seemed to blend better with the arrangement. More "Kenny-like" I guess. Adam with those sound effects too. Like after Rob does "Every gambler knows", and Adam does the sound effect that I'm guessing was poker chips. I saw that caught your attention Dennis lol. And watching him deal the cards to the beat (of course he IS the beat so I guess that was easy for him) was fun too. I always LOVE your reactions!! Are y'all patrons of Peter Hollens too? Since they have that collaboration that people that are patrons of both can send videos in. Your chance to be in a Home Free video. :) I'll talk to y'all later!! Be Good and Stay Healthy!!

Dennis, I know you are a bass guy. I’m wondering if you would be comfortable listening to a bass outside of Geoff, Tim, Avi, or Matt. His name is Matt Fouch. He is a gospel singer, with some crazy low notes. If interested, I would suggest Wayfaring Stranger, or God gonna cut you down. Just a suggestion. I enjoy his music.

Robert Docholliday66 Sadler I have to agree. They did a fine job singing it all but it just seemed to miss the spark that Kenny had. Also I think the way it was arranged it would have worked better if 1 person sang all the way through while the others backed him up and maybe sang a line or 2. That being said. I loved how Austin sang the repeat towards the end!
