- Theres many anime genres out there, the good old shounen, the seinen, the trashy isekai but to me there's one that rules them all. One Anime genre that has everything, one could say its Peak. Sports Anime.
Haikyuu, hajime no Ippo, blue lock there's so many great sports anime out there that go under the radar of people who refuse to give sports anime a try. While everyone is busy watching shows like jujutsu kaisen they're missing out on these gems for real.
This is a video essay about my favourite anime genre.

I recently watched bluelock and I cannot wait for season 2. I regret nothing.

My friend one day showed me Haikyuu, it was my favourite anime from that moment. But today I suddenly remembered my 1st anime was Inazuma Evelen on Cartoon Network.❤❤
Same! Inazuma eleven was the first anime I ever watched I really recommend watching the inazuma eleven go series too if you haven’t watched it also really good.

My personal favorite anime is Hajime no ippo, but fun fact, the author who made berserk was an assistant to George Morikawa (the author of Hajime no ippo) and then after a few chapters working with George Morikawa the assistant made berserk, just a fun fact I learned.
someone actually said this in the comments too i never knew that but it makes a lot of sense hearing it now theyre two of my all time favourites and both have such a raw style about them

You cannot understand the thrill you get from watching sport anime’s dude, Haikyuu got me into volleyball, Bluelock gave me a new perspective on the game and made me more motivated, Kurkuko’s basketball made me wanna learn new ways to play the game like them, and there’s so much more!

This is why Hajime no Ippo remains my favorite series. While I am upset that no more episodes are produced, I am still with the manga so long as George keeps up.
My favorite sport anime is Diamond no ace in English it's ( Ace of diamond) it is a joke from the author because Ace of diamond can refer to the card but the actual meaning is the star of the field
It is the greatest underdog story I have ever watched the anime have 178 episodes with 50 episodes new season announced so you can imagine the mean character have great development throughout the series but actually its an underdog in overdog story because the team is one of the strongest teams in all over Japan
There are lots of interesting facts about this anime ( its my favorite because it's really good not because the following facts :
Every school in the anime adapted from a real school with their name uniform and play style

I couldn't get into blue lock. I really tried but the only sports anime I actually liked was kuroko's basketball
Same i tried getting into kurokos basketball and slam dunk they are just too boring for me so i guess it just depends
Fair enough, have you seen the last game movie for kuroko just letting you know cause sometimes ppl forget about it it’s definitely worth a watch if you liked kuroko
well its not for everyone i read the manga its now my number 1 fav show of all time.
Kuroko is a battle shonen, I didn’t like it. I mostly watch sport animes for the sport and how those characters love the sport.

Sports Genre is part of The Battle Shounen Genre. Its stories are about growing through Fights.
The Very example Of that Its Ashita no Joe, The One started The Battle Shounen Genre. The impact Of this Manga is felt Not Only through The Sport Genre, but all The Shounen.

Loooooong time ago I don’t even remember it but it’s on my plan to watch list I’ve heard really good things
that transition into the Haikyu opening gave me goosebumps.
That Means a lot! put a lot of time into thinking about how to do the transition for haikyuu
I somehow got my mom interested in blue lock. I still don’t regret that decision. I’m actually surprised she enjoyed it. Definitely going to read the manga sometime!
That’s actually so wholesome that’s cool does she watch anime in general because it’s funny to imagine blue lock being someone’s first anime.

Hmm it's more like many characters get involved i n for smth they're passionate abt this, haikyu, run with the wind but i find Blue period somewhat similar, it's not sports but sure has similar going with other characters, losing, trying, winning because it involves with the one thing many people r working hard for , their passion. Art.
Similar talent, skill, learmimg everything these kinda shows have.

it takes care of most things with its built in filters, transitions etc so you don’t have to do that much manual editing it’s really helpful and lets you be more creative too with all the options it has

I personally think that bluelock is overrated. Don't get me wrong I really enjoyed it, but for example I think Aoashi to be more interesting and more enjoyable for a football fan.
I get what youre saying ao ashi was really enjoyable as a football fan i just like the intensity of blue lock its a really cool concept seeing isagi's growth is the most entertaining part for me. Ao ashi the training/matches themselves i find more interesting whereas blue lock the football aspect feels secondary compared to the "ego" pshycological side to it. Both have great casts though in their own way, i've still only seen the first season for both so will be interesting to see more.
uh lol nuh uh no hate but if can i say blue lock is UNDER RATED how? bc alot of people say its sports and dont wanna watch even with the massive people watching its stilll not enough ngl anyway ao ashi is for a sports person so when i watched it, it was predictable and ngl mid it wasnt bad but it made me just not watch sports anime at all till i saw clips from blue lock then i loved blue lock since its soo hype.
I’ve seen people say that too but blue lock is way too big for it to be underrated imo from what I’ve seen i feel like it has more fans than haters.
Ao ashi definitely isn’t for everyone but they do a really good job at the actual football side of things so if you’re not that into football it’s understandable that it’s not as hype as blue lock. It’s just preference tbh they’re both really great just blue lock appeals to more people

@@Loke_nokeblue lock is definitely not underrated. Even if it’s a sport anime, people are still watching it compared to other sport animes. It probably has the biggest following in sport anime currently.

That’s fair but seriously give it a try at the least there’s unironically so many great themes in sports anime that don’t need you to be a sports enjoyer to appreciate.
I’d recommend hajime no ippo and haikyuu just give the first few episodes of each a try and see how you feel you might like it

I’ve only seen run with the wind 🥲 even though that was a banger I just put in a few different styles of anime to kinda sun up the sports genre from the ones I’ve seen but will be doing more vids for them individually in the future

I’ve never watched it in dub but that would suck there’s some really good dubs out there that don’t get the treatment they deserve

Nah, you OP in my book for putting ippo here multiple times. Also Kintaro Miura was an assistant on Hajime no Ippo for a year. George Morikawa saw Miura's sketch of the black swordsman and asked who he was. Miura replied he didn't know yet. They were 19 and 18 years old back then.

Top sport animes for me are slam dunk, haikyuu and ace of diamond. They’re actual sport animes, not battle shonen.

i don't know how to explain it but for the same reasons i couldn't watch

it simply doesn't sit right with me, its like watching a thriller show about Superman trying to rob a Bank
i would be asking WHY throughout the entire show , the stakes doesn't feel right
Also when i started watching One outs i though it was going to be the same, like some sherlock kind of character playing baseball, it sounded stupid but watching more episodes made it obvious that its not entirely about baseball but more about Mind games

I agree haikyuu and ippo are something else I just put blue lock first because it’s the most popular one and saved haikyuu for last
Blue lock is just way more interesting imo I like hajime no ippo never managed to watch that voleyball anime but blue lock got me hooked from like episode 2
It also motivated me more to work hard more than any other anime but that’s just me

Shonen is king but sports anime offers things the shonen genre doesn’t have imo I feel like it has more to offer but shonen does what it does really well both are great
