Her name is Swathi Mohan🇮🇳🇺🇲, guidance and controls operations lead for the Perseverance rover mission.
Keep in mind: this is all 20 minutes after it actually happens.
20 minutes in earth's frame, but arbitrarily close to zero minutes in a spaceship travelling fast enough in the direction that unites earth and mars. Time intervals are relative.
What he meant i think the touchdown was already happened 20 minutes ago in mars.. but the signal just came to earth.
@@eddisonchen6818 For people inside a spaceship travelling at 99.875% of the speed of light, the touchdown happened 1 minute before. Even if, at the time of observation, the spaceship was passing by the earth. That's because, in the ship reference frame, the distance to Mars is 20 times shorter than in the earth's reference frame.
11 minute delay for the signal to travel at the speed of light.
It happened both 'now' and 11* minutes ago. 'now' is relative and depends on the reference frame. From Earth's reference frame it happened 'now'. From Mars' reference frame it happened 11 minutes ago. Both statements are true. From Andromeda Galaxies reference frame humans don't exist yet.
