The same for fire and police vehicles. On the music: the label 'progressive rock' was invented by critics. I think a lot of rock bands in the 70s experimented with sounds, rhythms and song structures, absorbing influences from jazz and classical, traditions from other cultures and even some avant garde sources - some more than others. It only became regarded as a 'genre' in retrospect.
