Nickelodeon in the 90s was a pinnacle during my childhood. Some of the best shows you could ever imagine. And the commercials were the frosting on the cake.
I remember the whole Nickelodeon bday bash thing. I was 11. I called and called and finally got through! It was a recording singing 🎶 "Everybody say Happy Birthday, Nick!" 🎶 I was so freaking excited. I won an Old Navy t shirt with an American flag on it and it said summer of '99 on it. It took weeks to receive it in the mail 😂 I didn't really care about the prize so much, I was just so excited I called Nickelodeon and actually got through!!!
I wanna go back to childhood and re- watch Nickelodeon today's generation got nothing on tv now old tv was much better. Really missing the way shows and commericals use to be.
you are officially a god in the 90s nick community! i have been looking for info on who won the couch. (i have to imagine that christina probably sold it.) (if she didn't, she'd probably get a fortune for it now)
Interesting how much 3D animation there was in these late 90s commercials. The more familiar early 90s/late 80s commercials from my youth were purely live action or traditional animation instead.
I was in two commercials for the Nickelodeon 20th anniversary birthday back on June 26th, 1999. I still have the commercial me and my sister were in on vhs. My dad has to convert it to dvd.
I’m in my early 30s and I had no idea how comforting this was going to be for me. I can’t believe I still remember a lot of these non important ads and stingers. Thanks : )
oh my god the 90s i was born in nov 1990 i was like 3 back in 1993 all the way til 2008 17 watching nickloadeon i remember snick on saturdays i l💙ue and mist the 90s 😢
and I remember that Chuck e cheese commercial being completely unbelievable. his mom took him just for cleaning his room! no way! it was like a once a year thing for us.
It’s not even a little okay that they shut it down.. my fam never had the money to go when I was a kid but I’d give anything to visit now even as an adult
I remember seeing bits and pieces of this marathon that day! My family and I were returning from the beach, and I saw the beginning when we were ready to depart the motel...I almost forgot about Nick Flicks...My brother and I had the Blue toy from Subway. One of my friends had a Kipper the Dog toy...I vaguely remember that flavor of Pop Tarts...Do they still make Shock Tarts?..My brother had an Ice Cream Face Chuckie....Kids today will never get to experience the fun of a Super Soaker...I wonder how old that Skip It ad was at that time because I know it was a few years old then...Is that Bebe Neuwirth doing the voice over in the Lysol commercial?
But, like an 90’s CN promo for it’s ex-block turned channel Boomerang stated, things change. But hey, at least we got loads more Nicktoons! Speaking of, they’re 30 now! Oh, and there’s NickRewind, and Paramount+, with retro Nick aplenty!
I have a 4:3 television hooked up to an old laptop via S-VIDEO that loops nothing but old nickelodeon, g4tv/techtv, MTV and comedy central shows as well as the commercials. Rocket Power, South Park, Xavier RA, Doug, Beavis and Butt-Head, Gamespot TV, Hey Arnold, etc.
I was 8 years old when this aired... so I must have watched a hell of a lot of Nickelodeon at that time because I remember so many of these commercials and it doesn’t at all feel like it’s been almost 20 years :(
Even as a kid, watching some of these infomercials, I wanted the products. Now I'm sitting here like "I'm an adult and I have the money for all of them. I don't need my parents' permission!" 😂😂
I didnt eat Subway in 1999 but if I knew they were giving Blues Clues toys I woulda made my mom take me lol my 5th birthday was Blues Clues themed. I was a McDonalds and BK kid.
I was 7 going on 8 when these were on I remember the Wild Berry pop tarts commercial, juicy fruit gum, shock tarts, Rugrats popsicle dolls, Generation Girl, Star Wars Taco Bell/KFC Kids Meals, and I used to own the Banana Boat blue sunblock.
I turned 8 this year on 11/7 and I remember all of these soooo clearly I definitely had no idea how young I really was at the time. 20 grand?!?!?!?!?!?!????? OMG I thought he said $200! that's an insane amount of money for a kid to win especially at that time!! probably like winning 40k now
That 'Cool Colors' Banana Boat sunscreen was one of the first big disappointments of my life. My sister and I were SO ready to be purple, not realizing that it just rubs in invisibly. Sigh. (LOVE this compilation though, despite how sad it's making me for nostalgic purposes)
I watched Roundhouse, You Can't Do That On Television, Hi, Honey, I'm Home!, Don't Just Sit There!, and Double Dare for Nickelodeon's Birthday Marathon when I was in 6th grade in summer 1999 in Texas.
Does anyone happen to remember the name of the hosts during the Live Birthday $20k Giveaway? I couldn't find any info on IMDB regarding the cast for the live giveaway portion of the Marathon.
I hated watching commercials as a kid, now I'm an adult willingly watching 35 minutes of it because I'm sad and miss this.
AK :(
AK Hell yea, I couldn't stand them, now I would do anything to be 12 again
Yea same here I was 9 years old than
same ! i understand dude. here at my desk at work so tired and bored of this place feeling nostalgic thinking of the simpler times

Damn the late 90’s was definitely an awesome time to be alive 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
It really was. This was when everything, including food and commercials, was so much better.
Except for the kids at Columbine High School😂
It is so weird seeing these and remembering them for the very first time since I was 7 years old.
It's like recovering from amnesia or something.
Agreed...
Somehow I remember 90% of these commercials. Insane!
Robin Williams. Rest In Peace!

Damn... watching these commercials makes me realize how much being an adult has just sucked the joy out of my soul
It is absolutely remarkable how many great cartoons Nickelodeon used to have.
This was recorded on Saturday, June 26, 1999.

It’s almost that time guys
Wait really? Cause that skip-it commercial was from 1992, they still aired it in 1999?
Do you have just continuous programming?
Really? Nickelodeon’s birthday is on April 1st so why would they record this in June?
I wish I can go back in time in June 26, 1999 at get to see that SNICK couch. I still know that Skip-It commercial.

I'm am. I'm a mid 90s person too.
God, the nostalgia is too much rn. We need time machines dammit

The girl who won the snick couch literally sounds 13 or 14 “I’m gonna buy some new toys!” Lmao 😂

+MichaelXClifford you're kidding right? how could we NOT remember the old nickelodeon studios.
Yup. Been there twice back in the day.
It’s not even a little okay that they shut it down.. my fam never had the money to go when I was a kid but I’d give anything to visit now even as an adult

Fast food, cereal, fad toys and Nickelodeon original programming. That’s all I needed when I was 12.

I was born in '02 so I didn't experience any of this but when I saw the difference in commercials it is amazing.
Ahhhh that CinnaCrunch Pebbles commercial hit me right in the feels!!! Why won't they bring THAT cereal back??
Jimmy Strummer I actually think they just did
Oh yeah, I know! Cinnamon Pebbles!! Not puffy like CinnaCrunch, but the taste is there!
SHOCK TARTS! YES those were so gooooooooooooooooooooooooooood

Even the Toys given out in Fast Food Kids Meals was better in the 90s LMAO!

Is that difficult to set-up? I'd like to do something similar
Damn even the commercials back then are fun to watch. I was born in 1999 so I was super young when these commercials aired

Smart people
You know what they say
You don’t realize how much you miss something until it’s gone
Man. I'm so sad that sony recently stopped using that "PLAYSTATION" sound effect at the end of their commercials that they've been using since the 90s
I had a generation girl doll when I was 6 (in 1999), I had Nichelle :)
I remember this one nick promo click of didi pickles saying we should party like it's 1999, and then remarks about how it IS going to be 1999.
Thanks for posting! I want those pop tarts back.
After watching this in 2024, I might as well say it: Happy 45th birthday to Nickelodeon.
kel "run around in yo birthday suit" did anybody else catch that???
At 5:25 it definitely sounds like he said fuck off
So weird not seeing these in almost 2 decades and still remembering
I was 8 years old when this aired... so I must have watched a hell of a lot of Nickelodeon at that time because I remember so many of these commercials and it doesn’t at all feel like it’s been almost 20 years :(

I remember when going to Wal-Mart was kind of a rare thing. Now hardly a week goes by that I don't go into one.
That’s because everyone had more money back then
14:03- Hey I know Wishbone! I saw him on PBS Kids show years ago before I watched "Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego?"
What a sharp turn to adult oriented commercials after the damaged tape part. Must’ve been after like 7 pm or something.
