However, i doubt anyone would distinguish frequencies below the threshold of human hearing. Probably until 15Hz but it's just vibrations heard below that. I own dual Pb1000 pros and these run flat to 16Hz in my room. 14Hz at -3db from the reference.
What would be spectacular would be for svs to offer repair parts for the pb16, with the extreme price point it's ridiculous there is no avenue to source out coils or surrounds ect
Yep. SVS changed the specs on this twice since CEDIA Expo 2024. The specs in the video were what they were claiming at the show. Can't go back in time and change what they said. I guess the final production versions measured a bit differently (or they used stricter measurements).
I have a small theater room (13x12). The sealed (times 2 of course) would be a nice tidy fit. I get a lot of room gain so having extra output is not necessary for me, but I will take the 11 Hz at -3 Db. My PB2000Pro probably takes up as much room as 2 SB17.
As for my stereo system I'll keep my current line-up of dual subwoofers /JL AUDIO F113v2 & PARADIGM XR13/ but maybe I'll take these new SVS subs into consideration for my home theater system. I mean the ported one. Opinions?
Love my Klipsch 1600sw for my living room theater I’ll give Klipsch a year to bring out something new or I’ll pick up one of these to go with my home theater in my bedroom
What is the dampening factor of this new amplifier? You talk about the amps ability to control the driver, but I cannot find a dampening factor specification on the site anywhere.
The 17-inch sub is not in production yet, but the cabinet of the sealed version is definitely much smaller than the ported version. The drivers and amplifiers are identical but the ported cabinet is much larger. SVS hasn't published the physical specs yet.
Down to 8hz? yeah but at what SPL? You need reference capability down low to even make it useful. The JTR Cap 4K drops off at its port tune of 10hz....quoting a frequency without associated SPL is meaningless

SVS actually does publish these charts on their web site once the product makes it into production. The SB16 and PB16 subwoofers that these ones are replacing have frequency response charts at 90 dB on the SVS web site. So I'd *assume* that these specs on the 17-inch models are also measured at 90 dB. But as the new ones aren't final production yet, it's possible the production specs will vary when this actually hits the market. And if they do, or even if they don't, then we'll see what SPL they were using when they publish the charts.
We heard it at the show on both stereo music content and home theater (5.2.2). It was definitely impressive. But we couldn't really capture the audio quality in a video so we didn't include the demo portion.
@@farmerj490 - dual 13s are more than enough for most rooms. The 17s go lower so they can create deep bass in large rooms but can also pressurize the room so you really feel the bass in your gut. They didn't give official specs but did refer to well over 2000 watts of amplification in each subwoofer. The sign said "2800 watts" but SVS reps told us these specs weren't final. In any case, these things are beasts.

F3 at what SPL? My phone has an F3 of 2hz as long as Im OK doing that measurement at something insanely low and am an ant in the speaker port. All this is is marketing to stir up people looking for a new sub. Don't get me wrong, Im sure it's a fine sub, but people need to realize that saying the F3 is 8hz or 11hz without providing what SPL that measurement was taken makes it meaningless. It's the same marketing jargon that speaker and sub manufacturers do on their websites when listing a frequency response with a low end extension of X. Its worthless data.

@@ChrisBoylan But the scale is still 0-10. So 10 would equate to a certain gain level. That is the highest gain level that amplifier can handle. It doesn't matter if I call that gain level 10 or 11, it is the same volume level because the gain is the same and maxed out.

@@ecoustics I have duel SVS 13" sealed subs. They sound absolutely perfect. Did you notice any more thump from a 17" or a deeper vibration?
