I enjoyed the bit about Missy Elliot, but you may be surprised how earnestly and knowledgeably such mechanisms are sometimes applied in hip hop. Sampling allows for all sorts of re-imaginings of linguistic and musical structures, and Islamic alchemical principles seem to be present in the Divine Mathematics of the 5% nation, the tradition that the Wu Tang Clan educated themselves through. It is now a widespread doctrine in the hip hop game.

The word "gamaaea" is very similar to the Egyptian pronunciation of the root for "gather." It's also related to the word "جمعة". Sometimes we find a word that feels like it gives us power and we use it as a talisman against the forces of negative energy we generate with poor word choice in our internal monologue.
The Fire of Aries. Electrified Fire. Plasma. Mercury spun in a vortex inside a copper, or bronze sphere encompassed within a magnetic field. It does all sorts of interesting things.
"Words Matter" = Realists. Brings up some interesting lines of argument in our contemporary situation. Not to say I'm taking one side or another, I think this is an excellent line to jump on to, from one direction or another, and follow down a path that can dig up some enlightening truths.
In the first video I thought, when you said he wanted to manipulate reality through a representation, that it was a classic example of sympathetic magic, but I think you're saying that he actually equates the symbol with reality itself? As an anthropologist, I'm used to thinking about the arbitrary relationship between signifier and signified(concept), and how those come together to make a sign or symbol, so this is somewhat difficult to wrap my head around :P
I think for Dee - and I will clarify this in the last episode of this series - that there is an ontological continuum between sign/signifier in which the manipulation of one has an impact on the other and vice versa especially, perhaps, singularly, in the case of the Monad. So it isn't reality itself but it has the ability to impact reality because the sign itself has ontological power. So we have to have a totally pre-modern theory of representation to understand the project here. In fact, it's neither modern nor medieval but a radical realist approach that I think may be unique to the project of the MH. It's tough to get your head around but hopefully when I wrap this up it will all come together!

If I'm interpreting this right, Dee's saying that we should not look to how the world is represented to us, but how we represent it, how we feel the representation. If that's right, we can say that he has a somewhat epistemological account, but mainly a Phenomenological acount of our relation with the Truth. A proto-Husserl, maybe?

Wow. Your timeline for Dee's use of the word Qabbalah is something I had never thought before. Could it be that Dee learned of that art in Prague from the Jews like Rabbi Loew?
To my knowledge, Dee doesn't visit Bohemia until several years after the completion of the Monas in 1564. I suspect that virtually all of his knowledge in this earlier period is second or third hand via translations from Latin. Though, Dee is learning some Hebrew at this point.

I have just been getting into your videos and this is rather old one, so I don't know how relevant this still is, but I was wondering about your indication of different spellings of (for example) "Cabala/Kabbalah/Qabalah" with slashes. In Linguistics, we usually use that notation for a word's phonology and instead use angle brackets for orthographic transscription. So, for example, one would write ⟨Cabala⟩ to indicate spelling and /kæbəˈlɑ/ to indicate a phonological form that your usual pronounciation might be based on.
@1542 Because of your mention of seeds in some of the alchemical processes described here, "gamaaea" brings to mind gametes, which could be thought of as a sort of "seed".
Interestingly, Newton was found, after his death, to have inhaled a bit of Mercury a generation (less) later. Notwithstanding, he could write a bit about math. Gotta wonder about is inspiration.... How did Dee and other Mercury Alone theorists view eastern alchemy and philosophy where mercury is seen tied to life? As a complete layman in any sort of alchemical subject, it seems to me that the far east is already well down this line of thought at least as far as the importance of mercury.

This is truly amazing! Not only your deciphering of Dee's thinking, but your erudition and pedagogical skills. I wonder now how Dee selected the elements of his glyph. Obviously some are taken from astrology, but where'd he come up with that ass thing on the bottom?
The idea that all this centers around mercury being able to make or become some kind of seed makes sense. there are several videos here on RUclips where people put gold foil on a puddle of mercury. the gold gets absorbed into the mercury in a pretty dramatic way. NileRed has a fairly informative video on this you might check out. also, I will point out, you should NEVER play with mercury and if you want to experiment with it, you need a pro grade fume hood. Period Table of Videos has a really good video on just how bad mercury emits fumes.
They're talking about the planet Mercury being sucked into the plasma center of the solar system, becoming heated until it gained the appearance of a sun, and then being spit out and bouncing around the solar system causing havoc until it ran out of both heat and momentum..
You say that the doubling of Mercury is a mysterious process. That might be true if it is the quantity that is doubled. But if it is the quality of Mercury that is doubled it makes sense. That is the purpose of the repeated cycles or revolutions of the alchemical process. Each cycle further purifies the object being worked on. In this case Mercury. Furthermore, the Aries fire suggests this cyclic process since Aries is the initial sign of the zodiac which is itself a cyclic process.
I am fascinated by this immense body of work and the mastery you possess with the myriad of source materials and the means by which you surface these disparate and confusing concepts into a summarised and well connected holistic view. Regarding the section of this presentation that deals with the alchemical transmutation of matter and Dee's commentary on the process for distilling the baser forms of matter to their ultimate potential as represented in Gold, I'm drawing parallels to the work brought forth by David Hudson and his discovery of monatomic gold otherwise know as ORMEs (Orbitally Rearranged Monatomic Elements) which appears to have roots in ancient Egyptian and Jewish culture. rexresearch.com/ormes/ormes.htm
hypothesis: Dee would have been aware of many Hebrew words as they coincide with old Welsh, which he spoke. Would this account for his spurious use of Hebrew? Regards.
I mean... you technically can turn mercury into gold via neutron bombardment in a reactor... however the isotope produced is not stable. Bismuth makes for a better material to transmute into gold apparently using the "Seaborg Method" in a particle accelerator, but it is not economical at all. "Astral forces" tickle the truth given the source of various metals are a combination of stellar nucleosynthesis and various supernovae.
Abhinavagupta wrote on Sanskrit in the same vein. One of my favourite books is his Tantra-loka, for anyone interested in the same ideas on divine sound from the Indian view.
The Reformed Hebrew and superior language thing may be part of why the Joseph Smith story parallels John Dee more. We might say that Mercury is the message and Sulphur is the real world action. The trial before the moon and sun can be say to be living the message in its own way and personal ways. Finally, one is liberated by operating both in agreement.
It is kind of hard to follow all the metaphor without knowing what the practical aspect of it is. "one is directed to purify mercury to actually extract the sulfur from it, and that purified mercury would go on to become the seed that could be projected into gold and silver." What does that mean as far as anything I can do? My assumption is that alchemy is a roadmap for spiritual growth or a means of improving energy. Or, should i just understand it as early efforts in what would be chemistry pure and simple, with no spiritual development involved in it?
@@TheEsotericaChannel oh, ok. Thank you very much! Can you give me an approximate timeframe on when that happened? i mean like 1780s or 1810s or something like that.
@@TheEsotericaChannel Ok, great! Anyway, I'm trying to figure out what i can do with what im hearing in the videos. If it is all just the historical context that chemistry developed in, its quite a lot of information with no particular takeaways. I dont mean your videos, i mean the subject itself. Is there some kind of philosophical aspect i can mull over? Otherwise, it just sounds like a play-by-play of chemists arguing over what the periodic table should look like, or biologists arguing how to structure a binomial nomenclature system or something else really really dry. I dont mean to be disrespectful, I just want to get more into this, and I'm just kinda wondering where I'm going and what all these details do for me.
@@bredmond812 I guess that would depend on why you're interested - on the channel I just cover the historical practice - for more 'spiritual' stuff you may need to shop around though most of that stuff is rubbish, historically speaking.
I'm especially interested in the inversion and it's spiritual application. Im also very interested in the different spellings, understandings and changes in kabbalah-cabalah-qabalah.

Some people say that Dee's insane, Dee's nuts. I disagree. Dee's just misunderstood and really quite sane.
I mean... you technically can turn mercury into gold via neutron bombardment in a reactor... however the isotope produced is not stable. Bismuth makes for a better material to transmute into gold apparently using the "Seaborg Method" in a particle accelerator, but it is not economical at all. "Astral forces" tickle the truth given the source of various metals are a combination of stellar nucleosynthesis and various supernovae.
The only ParisHiltion elements I've ever seen were on the unsavory parts of the internet
Abhinavagupta wrote on Sanskrit in the same vein. One of my favourite books is his Tantra-loka, for anyone interested in the same ideas on divine sound from the Indian view.
"Rav. Missy E" took me out like ol yeller
Happy handica.
Tziruf, huh ?

All Hail to The Doors, The Gates and The Portals ! Hail to all of them !
ever notice that al chem y is 'all, uncountable, having the quality of'?
It was proto-chemistry and the "spiritual" aspect doesn't appear until well after the eclipse of alchemical practice
@@TheEsotericaChannel oh, ok. Thank you very much! Can you give me an approximate timeframe on when that happened? i mean like 1780s or 1810s or something like that.
@@bredmond812 I'm actually planning an episode about it !
Why is kabala spelt with a c and not a k? Are they the same or two different t things?
Same thing, many different transliterations into English
The terms Νοητόv - Νοητό/Νοητικό can't be translate in any language.

wait, the Tiger King?
I'm especially interested in the inversion and it's spiritual application. Im also very interested in the different spellings, understandings and changes in kabbalah-cabalah-qabalah.
