I was struck by the mention of a 1st world being too good for humans and the 2nd world that was too evil. The Merovingian in the Matrix movies mentions that the 1st and 2nd Matrix were also like this. I'm curious about how this specific idea might have made it to the Wachowski siblings when writing The Matrix.
They were steeped heavily in this knowledge. Even watching the new installment, I see another level of its understanding being tapped into; Neo has awoken and been reassimilated back into the Matrix and we see him as a creator of worlds, his VR game world is showing us that Neo reawoke and began to dream the dream of worlds again. This, at least to me, represents the likeness of each level of awareness and the repeating hierarchy of knowledge and experience after the reaching of a new dimension of awareness. The original trilogy seems to follow Neo up from Malkuth, we see him ascend to a godlike state, only to give himself and reawaken after his fusing with Smith, into a similar world with similar struggles where he must once again awaken with his even greater understanding afterwards. Fractal re-emergence time and time again. Sorry if this comment is disjointed, I'm typing as I eat lunch before getting back to work. Lol
The origin of evil in Kabbalah's cosmology is very interesting and for some reasons, makes many religious mythology and folklores more relatable. It's like studying Our own psychology.
This is a humorous yet scholarly treatment of early Kabbalah. I was not well informed about Isaac ha Cohen's work. An interesting precursor to the Kelipot of the Zohar.
All I look for is a similarity between the old texts to my life and experience. I believe what I think is true for me. Great information. Thanks for letting us info your world of Jewish mistic and writing
Listening along, I recalled that Nikolai Berdyaev noted how Böhme’s understanding of theogonic process was influenced by Kabbalah - and then you mentioned him
Awesome! This is great: "This difficult and obscure texts details the origins of Evil, Demons and their final destiny as understood in one of the earliest strata of Kabbalah and serves as the foundation for the later development of the Klippot in later Lurianic Kabbalah." I have been researching the Isaac Luria material, and this is before, I'm so glad. This helps.
@эзотерика философия наука Yup. Lovely. Thank you for the comment. The thing is, in order to communicate in this world, we need to use words because most people only understand the written or spoken form of communication. So we say that there is evil and there is good, because there IS need for a foundation. Even animals have a foundation and know the difference. But if man doesn't understand his foundation to comprehend the difference, then he is worse than any animal. Also, like you said ( I only understand the English part of your message), there are so MANY intricate variations, it's a beauty of sculptured thinking to unlock and unravel and know the minute and fabulous differences...but that is for communicating with those who know deeper language, not so much as a physical expression, but with the use of that physical language, like music, there are parts that make a sound, and parts that are silent, which express as much and sometimes even more than the sounds, when well placed. Very well said. I really love intelligence when I see it.
@эзотерика философия наука You know, this is brilliant, I love this: "man has no strength. no resource. that would somehow influence more or less significant events or processes in the world around us." Gurdjieff the teacher taught the same thing, but then, so did Don Juan of the Carlos Castaneda writings, and many others too have written about this. The point I'm trying to describe is that, man can have strength and the resource, but he has to be willing to do the work, the work of knowing himself first, the work of discovering, and it is not a simple easy thing, it is like being a scientist all one's life. It's an intense seeking of the truth. And one step at a time, one can learn. After enough steps are taken, the pieces of the puzzle begin to form. One needs the pieces of the puzzle to be put together for his conscious self. You see.... one can KNOW that one has the power, and just allow it, and go with the flow on that wave of that internal structure. But, it is the same as having a silver platter of food in front of you, without doing any effort to have earned it. One has to want to know. That is the only way one can eventually find out how to use what they do have, in order to sculpt that conscious self they now have. That's what I have found. From my own researches into the structure of inner and outer worlds.
@эзотерика философия наука Yeah, not everything's about the brain, doc. But if one prefers to stay in that brain level of existence, then they will continue to be unbalanced, and of course, there could be great differences, that all result to the same thing. Misunderstanding. But, check out that dude, black adept's work, "Covid-19, The Great Reset, by Klaus Schwab and Thierry Malleret. Their brains work backwards. Everything they say, sounds to an unsuspecting individual, or, not individual yet, like he's saying something good for them. But their brain is not tuned in to his structure. His structure, haha, is corrupt. You have to open the view through observation, to be able to see what he's really saying. It's funny to read it, knowing what I've found out for myself, and knowing how so many can be so easily deceived by it, by that backwards brain. Like for example, he says (on page 12 of this pdf I downloaded) "Let's begin by putting things into perspective: human beings have been around for about 200,000 years, the oldest bacteria for billions of years and viruses for at least 300 million years." He's not talking about separate things. He's telling us what he feels about Humanity. Maybe there is no man in that body that's writing the book. Maybe someone else is talking through that 'brain.' Perhaps this entity has been around for a long time, and has long hated Humanity, in whatever form they came in. So yea. You're right. There are many ways of seeing. But, there is a foundation, and that means, a correct way, rather than a sandy, flaky, shadowy way. I just started reading the book. But I've already recognized the entity. Not personally, of course not.
Fascinating! I was taught that the Klippot emmanates from Gevurah (as you discussed), but I can see the alternative ideas of Keter, Binah, Malkut, etc. all playing a part in the Klippot. I've also studied gnosticism - so interesting ties there (so many between Kabbalah and gnostic texts).
You so real! Your quips help cut through the dense left-brain philosophical discourse: a necessary challenge but you make it engaging! “Blessed is he who understands things as they are” and your response mirrors my right-brain’s sometimes ‘irreverent’ candor😭 “DF did I just read?!” was a common refrain throughout many portions of my Western Philosophy 101 experience. Dr. Sledge, I love you and your content so much! I imagine you’re such a fun and interesting person in life, gods be good I’ll have the good fortune to meet you at some point.
The part about the demonic spheres of the Screen is quite striking and I'm reminded of the Gospel of Phillip, when he speaks about how in this world there is no true evil or good but in the Middle, between here and the Resurrection, is where true evil lies. As for the passage of Lilith upsetting the divine throne, it may be (I'm blindly speculating, since I have no academic background or expertise) that Lilith here is a generic term for "divine/demonic female" (hence the multiple liliths) and could be specifically referring to Asherah or another feminine divine counterpart (such as the Gnostic Sophia or the Mandean Ruha) who generates imbalance by creating unwanted offspring (much like the generation of Yaldabaoth). I mean, think of all the money that God is going to have to spend on child support. I'd be shook too.
In one of the videos he linked he talks about the hints of the Sophia mythos being present at the development of the Kabbalah and influencing it so you may be on to something there.
Glad to see an episode about this. There is so much misunderstanding of evil in (Jewish) Kabbalah in contemporary occultism, and I see the errors repeated all the time. No doubt there is a whole episode in, for example, Golden Dawn misreadings of Kabbalah and evil...
I think a lot of these concepts are universal and developed further by shared influence. Hinduism and Zoroastrianism had a major influence on world religion, they also had disagreements on which entities or manifestations were considered good or evil. Disagreements are just fine, yet sadly with the current human condition, disagreements on theological issues often leads to violent conflict.
@@harveywabbit9541 At least now in the modern age we can better study the complex interaction between matter/energy and dark matter/energy 🤔 perhaps old myths were born out of subconscious and early poetic attempts to explain the forces of nature.
25:15 My sympathies, I've had teachers like that in high school... My solution was baklava and black coffee. neither resolved the problems but they did curb my need to scream the second I left the class room xD
"Evil is everything that fails to be" gives a whole different perspective to "the road to hell is paved with good intentions". This might be the reason why a fair bit of philosophers paint many demonic figures as sympathetic to mankind's struggles. To be one with God or to detach yourself completely in order to become your Own, that is the question.
OK, school's out. You know you're itching to do a movie review, and your audience would be deeply indebted if we could have you're insights into the film, PI.That's my pitch. Thx for your top shelf productions.
Pi is a really good movie. The first time I saw it I had to play it again as soon as the credits came up. I knew I had to see it again. I've never had that need before or sense. I typically will watch a movie a second time if I really like it a few years later.
Brilliant and confusing account of things not meant to be understood by most people. I so enjoy your videos which for the most part are enlightening or put things in perspective. I am however baffled by the concept of reading or studying texts that are not meant for me to understand or have parts left out for my own good. I can only hope that once read a sense of understanding and enlightenment will occur of its own accord. If not, then keeping ancient secrets is in fact just that.
Dr Sledge, thank you so much for all the wonderful content you produce! The past few days I've been watching a bunch of your videos along with Dr Puca @ Angela's Symposium. Scholarly esotericism ftw!

Someone in Japan will watch this and a few years later, an epic anime inspired by the Emanations of the Left Hand Side's wars/extinction events before existence will come into being. When that time comes, I will gladly watch said show.
I was a left hand path practitioner for 20+ years. Your content is top notch - I was hoping you would have something on the place of shadows and shells, and well.. certainly you do :)
I cant remember where it was, but the Gnostics (one group or another) also said that jealousy (Zelus) was an important source of evil, but while I have not read the text, from what you said, it reminds me of a Zurvanite, Zoroastrian text, the Bundahishn
Outstanding video Dr. Sledge. I've have come across Eminations of the left hand side before but just in bits and pieces. This video makes the information I had previously more clear and a little less of a jumbled mess. I'll probably view this video quite a few time with a notebook in hand. Thank you for this interesting video!!
This was amazing! I feel like I was put in an old parallel dimension with obvious incomplete Sephirot- or worlds within worlds spin off of weirdness. I had a dream I was taken to practice making videos while sleeping at night. I didn’t want to animate the person in the dream - so when the called action I just stood there. Then, months later there was a release of a video and I recognized the renovation of the bathroom and the whole dream came back to me. The person who I was in the dream was talking, but her mirror image was STILL!! It was creepy a f . I think we’re in an inverted world of some sort and or code, and this is where they make changes to the lower reality.
Strange and fascination. Much of the cosmology you describe is very similar to how non-dual cosmology is described in Kashmir Shaivism. The Tantriks have similar magical texts with a lot of intentionally obscured information which can only be understood if you are initiated and given the oral keys to unlock those texts.
"I wish to know Dark as I know Light that i may be knowing fully of all thing which i partake." 'Meet all things with love that you may embrace all that is right with the dark. then, when made one, have you broke the cycle.' Just some things that sprouted in my mind early in the video, before intro roll.
As a guy who studies everything Occult Myself, For the last couple or few hundred years Tarot has been extremely popular, especially since Levi wrote Transidental Magic and connected it to the Kabbalah, any plans on a Tarot video?
here is a great video about the Tarot, Qabalah first Correspondances and Martinism it has 5 parts it's a big lecture and also you have other things like Qabalah or Astrology The first Occultists to link the Tarot with the 22 and 10 or 32 Paths with the 22 Major Trumps and with the minor arcana the 10 Sephiroth, making the Tarot fit in the Tree of Life.... In my own studies, I was exploring the patterns and cycles of conflict, separation, fall and exile in relation to the dynamic Kabbalistic model. At first I expected that this would clearly be expressed within the vertical proximity only, (as the familiar binary above/below axiom) The appearance of seemingly new properties and characteristics in the lower realms of action surprised me. And I didn't fully understand the left and right relationships of the model. I was envisioning the En Soph as facing away so that my own left and right corresponded with it. As you had said, I expected evil to appear as the by-product of an absence or dissipation found in the sub-lunar realms. But in fact, when I looked more closely at the occurence of the 'Fall', there is also an 'accumulative' pattern going on; With each new repeated separation or interval of trespass, the conditions that result always bear the weight of a new precedent Law. For example, eating of the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil resulted in Death as a new inexorable Law, and also the very act of eating becomes a necessity of survival in a world of ravenous feeding rather than the sensual participation and spiritual nourishment within a garden. The lunar aspect of Day Six has come into play fully now, the highly charged genital areas of both Adam and Eve are felt as a palpable binary push and pull that is the direct result of consuming what was clearly a very binary fruit that contained all opposites within itself. The 'seeds' of such a fruit seem to carry the code of separation via the subsequent curse of enmity between the offspring of Eve and the Serpent. This is just one example of the accumulative, increased complexity and the additional burden of inexorable law that plagues the 'fallen' in their subsequent condition. So the code of VIOLATION, SEPARATION and RECIPROCAL DEVOURING appears like a new mutated pathogen and will continue fo manifest as evil through the impulse of Cane and his offspring. The Kabbalah shows us that the code of evil is inextricably identified with the Fall, descending further away from First Cause and deeper into Time under the weight of greater and greater numbers of Laws.

@@TheEsotericaChannel welp I've just been handed the reins to the Gnostic TV and Film podcast so I'll have lots of opportunities to talk through my discomfort with the term!
Lol
Interestingly I am reminded of the works of C. S. Lewis by the concept of primordial evil coming from an aborted universe older than our own.
These old texts always fascinating...love from west coast Canada
You know its a good episode when it starts to sound like a Final Fantasy narrative.
What a scholar! Don't give up, you get there! The rare place where others have not been.
The origin of evil in Kabbalah's cosmology is very interesting and for some reasons, makes many religious mythology and folklores more relatable. It's like studying Our own psychology.
Wow, I didn't expect to see a book I own, 'Primeval Evil in Kabbalah' to pop up at the end. Love to see it!
Listening along, I recalled that Nikolai Berdyaev noted how Böhme’s understanding of theogonic process was influenced by Kabbalah - and then you mentioned him
Awesome! This is great: "This difficult and obscure texts details the origins of Evil, Demons and their final destiny as understood in one of the earliest strata of Kabbalah and serves as the foundation for the later development of the Klippot in later Lurianic Kabbalah."
I have been researching the Isaac Luria material, and this is before, I'm so glad.
@эзотерика философия наука You know, this is brilliant, I love this: "man has no strength. no resource. that would somehow influence more or less significant events or processes in the world around us."
Gurdjieff the teacher taught the same thing, but then, so did Don Juan of the Carlos Castaneda writings, and many others too have written about this.
Like for example, he says (on page 12 of this pdf I downloaded) "Let's begin by putting things into perspective: human beings have been around for about 200,000 years, the oldest bacteria for billions of years and viruses for at least 300 million years."
He's not talking about separate things.
This video is a huge resource. Thank you for all this valuable information. It's so fascinating!! I'm going to donate.
Does Leviathan taste like chicken? I think I'll pass. Thanks!

This content is great though! I love your exegesis and your (beautifully executed) jokes have the same impact that carbonated water has on liquor: makes it go down easier and helps me absorb it more efficiently. Super informative and insightful stuff that used to be gate-kept from the masses🙏🏾🤘🏾I appreciate your work, friend❤️🔥🕺🏾
This is so fascinating. I love every second of it
Non-Jewish Occultists misappropriating Jewish texts and ideas - That's impossible!
@@Aj-zr8dz
Seems that the battle between darkness/evil/devil/winter and light/good/god/summer is a universal myth.
Thanks!
I really love they way you present topics. Very informative as well.
Dr Sledge, thank you so much for all the wonderful content you produce! The past few days I've been watching a bunch of your videos along with Dr Puca @ Angela's Symposium. Scholarly esotericism ftw!
great video! Treatise on the left emanation is certainly a text to be wrestled with, I know I have. Still, it’s one of the most profound texts I’ve read.
I have to write this down. You pass important knowledge with every sentence. Concise fount of information that forces me to pursue further these "extremely difficult" texts....How Dare You Sir.....Thanks;)
Someone in Japan will watch this and a few years later, an epic anime inspired by the Emanations of the Left Hand Side's wars/extinction events before existence will come into being. When that time comes, I will gladly watch said show.
You, sir, are a treasure trove of knowledge! Thank you!
What a wonderful presentation, I was laughing out loud several times, and of course enjoying the information. Thank you my friend.
Hmm Bundahishn reminds me of Buddhism - our language today is filled with Cabala, VOODOO!
absolutely amazing.
Taschen should do a volume of Kabbalistic manuscript art, it's always fascinating :O
i am sure they did
Wish that more of my college professors were like this guy. I may have done better on those evening classes.

Much of the cosmology you describe is very similar to how non-dual cosmology is described in Kashmir Shaivism. The Tantriks have similar magical texts with a lot of intentionally obscured information which can only be understood if you are initiated and given the oral keys to unlock those texts.
You dazzle me & I am grateful!🤩
Best explanation ever!! This IS a tough debate in kabbalistic treatises and I'd go with the 'broken vessels' and Lost sparks idea. Lehitraot 🙌🏻
"I wish to know Dark as I know Light that i may be knowing fully of all thing which i partake."
'Meet all things with love that you may embrace all that is right with the dark. then, when made one, have you broke the cycle.'

The first Occultists to link the Tarot with the 22 and 10 or 32 Paths with the 22 Major Trumps and with the minor arcana the 10 Sephiroth, making the Tarot fit in the Tree of Life....
Levi, Stanisla de Guaita, Court de Gebelais, Etteilla and Pasqually, St Martin and Papus; I've found a video very good about those correspondences, something I was reading in "The Qabalah" by Papus and there's still the Martinism, Papus (a great friend and student of Levi) was the guy who founded Martinism! In my own studies, I was exploring the patterns and cycles of conflict, separation, fall and exile in relation to the dynamic Kabbalistic model. At first I expected that this would clearly be expressed within the vertical proximity only, (as the familiar binary above/below axiom) The appearance of seemingly new properties and characteristics in the lower
realms of action surprised me. And I didn't fully understand the left and right relationships of the model. I was envisioning
the En Soph as facing away so that my own left and right corresponded with it. As you had said, I expected evil to appear as the by-product of an absence or dissipation found in the
sub-lunar realms. But in fact, when I looked more closely at the occurence of
the 'Fall', there is also an 'accumulative' pattern going on; With each new repeated separation or interval of trespass, the conditions that result always bear the weight of a new precedent Law. For example, eating of the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil resulted in Death as a new inexorable Law, and also the very act of eating becomes a necessity of survival in a world of ravenous feeding rather than the sensual participation and spiritual nourishment within a garden. The lunar aspect of Day Six has come into play fully now, the highly charged genital areas of both Adam and Eve are felt as a palpable binary push and pull that is the direct
result of consuming what was clearly a very binary fruit that contained all opposites within itself. The Kabbalah shows us that the code of evil is inextricably identified with the Fall, descending further away from First Cause and deeper into Time under the
weight of greater and greater numbers of Laws.
Got any video suggestions ?
