It must be so nice to work at Norms , or be one of those friends that drops in and gets to jam with some of the greatest musicians in LaLa land , but ultimately its all about the fantastic , beautiful guitars , and it's always a pleasure to just sit back and enjoy the music. Thanks Norm , Mark , Jen
The SONGS are most important - I like that John Shanks made that point. Guitar players who play to the song are much more interesting to me, people like Mike Campbell for instance. Great interview, and part 2 with Chris Issak is even better!!
Thank you guys you covered so many subjects of music n life it’s amazing. Team work n and the sound it delivers so many times I have gone into a place to hear a new band play but one plays louder than the other is it ego and the cranking of amps starts then the sound dies..........
I was 14 when I discovered Chris Issak in 1995...no real reason why other than I thought the album art was cool for Forever Blue...when I listened to it...it was one of those moments that I realized didn't happen by chance. It waslime someone else was writing the thoughts in my head. Because of him and my brother those are the reason I picked up a guitar. I've been hooked ever since.
My dream RUclips show would be listening to John Shanks and Tom Bukovac talk gear, guitars, and crafting parts for records. Seriously, what would be better than that?

Love this casual conversation, but right in the mid sentence it cuts to a movie about ebola and "we're all gonna die!!", then back to conversation. :-0
That was fuckin cool. I love shit like that, man. My fingers never worked like that, but.. I miss the days when they almost did. Fuckin arthritis. All I want to do is play... all I got is time.. and I'm fadin' so fucking fast. It sucks. Big time. Shit. Fuck. Hell.

Just an honest question for Norm’s, are late 50’s/early 60’s Les Pauls really THAT much better (craftsmanship wise) than say a 2016 Les Paul Standard? As somebody who will most likely never touch one of those vintage instruments let alone play them, I’m really just fascinated by it. I have a 2016 Les Paul Standard that I think is just a fantastic Les Paul (and I’ve owned several post 2000 Standards) - what makes late 50’s/early 60’s Les Pauls the most incredible Les Pauls ever?
Great players I hope someday I can afford some of your guitars I get such pleasure out of hearing in them. I long for 57 Les Paul junior player's grade change tuners who gives a f*** I'm just going to play the goddamn thing in bars

Stop eye fucking other men over their grooming habits and turn your mind towards more pressing concerns. That is to say, concerning your grammar (or lack thereof), you have truly shit the bed. Just another great video with great talent. I think this was the most interesting "talk" that I've heard from all of Norm's great videos. Good stuff.
Now that's a cliffhanger!
I really like what John had to say... Basically, he's talking about being a MUSICIAN, NOT just a guitar player... Very well said
Ok guys this part two better be mind blowing to make us wait this long for it!
Cool. It's great to see how many of these guys are so humble and seem like great humans.
Only at Norman's would this happen... I need part 2 now!!
