    I like Ward 10 it’s good flavor. The Tarrasque has legendary resistances and various forms of spell resistances making it near impossible but not quite impossible to slay with magic. Ward 10 is enough to show that level of resistance and not having hex proof shows that it is fallible. It really should’ve had double strike or trample instead of haste though as is it is a flavor fail.

    This is actually perfect, because in the lore the tarrasque is the most epic monster in dungeons and dragons. In the rules however, in every edition, it is always laughably under powered, overshadowed by even marginal demons and dragons. Famously the flight spell just beats the tarrasque. So kudos to wizards for keeping up the tradition.

    5-16: Counter the spell or ability.
    17-20: Copy the spell or ability then counter the original spell or ability. You may choose new targets for the copy. " I think this would fit the tarrasque better. It also uses the new roll 20 mechanic. And that fits the tarrasque original reflective carapace ability better than ward.

    Honestly, everything you just discussed about Tarrasque has me thinking it would or should have been treated like an Eldrazi titan from Rise of the Eldrazi in the first Zendikar set. Simple movement has it crushing through entire towns? That's annihilator right there. Inherent ability to withstand massive destructive spells? Sounds clearly like indestructible to me. Only issue I see being that by giving it both those things, it seems to have a little too much in common with Ulamog the Infinite Gyre.
    Instead it feels like they did their best to go in that direction but keep what it could do mostly within the sphere of the green color pie, which demonstrably made it weaker in every sense. I personally would have given it a (albeit cheap) annihilator at level 2. But also something more take away the cast trigger. That way you can cheat it into play and just have a nice nasty beater who cant be targeted by much of anything save a board wipe and can slap your opponent silly the moment it came into play.
    Sad WotC didnt see fit to even give this legendary creature of DnD the time of day. One of my biggest complaints with both attempts to dive into the DnD World when bringing it over to MTG. Go wild with the IP! Celebrate its charm in a style that stays TRUE and ACCURATE to the majority of the creatures and their respective lore. If said creature ends up being too powerful simply dont include that creature/legend and move onto something iconic that DOES work with in the realm of both MTG and DnD whilst remaining as fair and balance as you can stomach.

But I think a shuffle back into the owners library if it is put into the graveyard or exiled would be great since if the Tarrasque is "defeated" it just goes into hibernation. If you keep that it can fight a monster, you should increase it to up to 3 target creatures because of multi-attack. And a personal flair would be to add that the Tarrasque cannot change controllers so no mind control effects work. This would make a terrifying creature and give the Tarrasque back some of its dignity.

    Ok it for sure shouldn't have annihilator or regenerate bc regenerate has been discontinued and annihilator is specific to the RoE eldrazi but it should destroy permanents on attack and have trample. Ward 10 can stay bc I like big numbers. It should have the keywords regardless of how it hit the board. They could easily have made it bigger also. Flavorwise it'd be neat if it recurred itself too bc that is something the terrasque does in d&d (when defeated it returns to its slumber for a few thousand years or so). Also they didn't give it hexproof bc they're discontinuing that too and replacing it with ward.

    You could just give it all of progentitus stuff including the casting cost. Although ward 10 is quite thematic. Probably should have trample is most cases (doesn't need it with protection from everything i guess). I agree some form on anihilator would be intresting on it.

    The only matchups where Tarrasque works well is against control decks that don't play creatures/only play a couple creatures. Which of course makes it impossible to play in Standard at the moment since even its full control decks use Planeswalkers that create 2/1 spiders that can block a 10/10 dinosaur with no damage spillover. Why it doesn't have trample is beyond me.

  • @jedstanaland2897
    @jedstanaland2897 2 года назад

    I completely agree. I honestly think it should have trample, rampage, indestructible, shroud or heatproof, regenerate if destroyed, annihilator, and ward and possibly even protection. Haste isn't really needed on it and neither is the fighting thing. It could have some other kind of bypass like the ability to deal damage regardless if it was blocked or not. If you ask me they really did a disservice to it. The thing is that there are many common and uncommon creatures that are much better either because of mana cost being much lower or more powerful abilities or both in many cases. Heck every single one of the mythic dinosaurs from ixlan were better than this one card that should have been better based on the lore alone.

    Technically it does blow up 2 things when it attacks. Fight 1 blocker and get chump blocked by another. But yeah this should have been Emrakul levels of powerful but with some safety line to prevent it being reanimated or cheated into play (maybe like Phage's you lose the game unless you cast it)

    Should be the only non eldrazi card with annihilator 2 ability on 12/12 Trample body. If wizards dont like the annihilator then bring back Rampage and put it on Rampage 4. Remove the haste instead ETB destroy target land. Fight ability remains option or remove entirely and should have shroud. So you cant abuse the ETB.
