    Brilliant video about the CB Radio back in the 80's I really wish that I would of been older at the time and experienced what the CB Radio was really like back then compared to now because there's hardly anybody left on the old 11 meters I started the CB craze back in 1995 and I have met some weird and wonderful people on the CB and I have lost a lot of good friends who are now sadly silent keys but I still have a lot of really good memories and some of the QSO's I've had with people through the years has been absolutely fantastic and it's all been really good fun and I still use the CB to this very date 29 years I've been on the air and it's been brilliant. Thanks and best 73's to everybody out there cheers. Stephen M3SNV 26-RW-103 73's.

      There's no doubt that CB hit its peak in the 70s , but it hasn't died . It's still being used , and there are a lot of people talking on the CB radio daily . I should know , I'm one of them ... and I talk on there every day with my friends . Get yourself set up , and see what the activity in your area is like .

    I got my first CB in 1979. 10 year old me with a Superstar 360 with a dodgy channel selector and channel segments and DV27.
    I had a bit of a break but I'm back again and Im still using the same 1980's rig and antenna. I still have the DV27 too.
    I took my Cobra 148GTL to the CB shop for a meter bulb. They 'accidentally' sold it to someone. Never went back to that shop again.
    I caused no TVI on 12w AM/SSB .... From 1981. I wiped out a bunch with TVI's once I got my 4w UK legal FM CB

      +Chris Doc Strange although 27.555 is illegal still throughout the world..
      and now cycle 24 is on the decline SSB DX on midband (legal) or hi band (illegal) will be less and less what will you be doing now ?? 2017,18 and 19 will be just about flat with no DX 2020 will see the skip start to come back for it's peak in 2024..

    AM and SSB CB radio becomes legal in UK from Fri 27th June 2014. It's been a very long wait !

    • @helraiser666painkil
      @helraiser666painkil 2 года назад

      Hi rigsearch I just don't understand why they've legalised the AM and SSB I mean why couldn't they just of given it to the CB operator's back in 1981 at the start it's just crazy that they have legalised it now compared to years ago and I know that we have the PMR446 now as well but why can't Ofcom give the CB radio users the 934 mhz back because nobody uses it and I have listened through the entire band with a scanner and nothing it's dead as a door nail I think it's unfair and Ofcom should re open the band for the CB comunity but those are my feelings about the whole thing and getting rid of the CB license is wrong as well and making it freeband as well is just crazy. Thanks and best 73's. Stephen M3SNV.

    Oops, plug the mic in.
    T.v. frequencies are not near 27 MHz. Audio equipment is not near 27 MHz. It's badly designed equipment which is picking up signals it was not designed for. I had problems with three t.v.'s and two hi-fi's when running 100 Watts s.s.b. An aerial coax breaker sorted out one t.v. and a ferrite ring partially sorted out another. I called in the Post Office and was told to carry on and he would explain to my neighbours. The joy of being licenced.
    So did f.m. interfere with hospital pagers like he said?

    FM CB was rubbish, as for not interfering it was worse than AM, your always going to get some TVI but it was worse on FM, it was terrible, even got it coming through the toaster, loved Am in the Uk plus sideband, even tested it out, got a bloke from the next street to come round, i was giving him TVI, he rang his misses and i transmitted on legal radio and it wiped out their telly, put it onto Am and nothing, bought him a TVI filter, FM cb i had trouble getting from one end of town to the other, the government was forced to give us CB, so they gave us the worst cb thinking it would die out, it didnt, there are still lots of people all over the world today that will never give up cb, and im one of them..

    • @bigpimp347
      @bigpimp347 7 лет назад +2

      hospital pagers POCSAG were around mid band and some in high band and on FM,
      if you lived near a hospital you often heard them making a row and wiping out up to three channels at a time..
      and visa versa, a CB would wipe them out too..
      and you could do it legally, if you had a licence and a legal CB radio..

      not you clearly, back then pagers WERE on 11m band.. even now i can sometimes hear pager on 26.600 ish.. no doubt a parasitic oscillation or harmonic .. but still..

    • @GordonHudson
      @GordonHudson 7 лет назад +1

      rob b Correct. Most hospitals had Multitone pager systems on 27 MHz at that time with vertical dipole antennas.

    • @bigpimp347
      @bigpimp347 3 года назад

      @@RobBob555 11mtr sis from 25Mhz to 28Mhz so try to narrow it down a bit..
      Pagers were actually on the mid band which is where the AM channels were, so in one respect FM CB channels were in the place, but still if you lived close to a hospital you could legally desense and interfere with mic band pagers and not get done.
