The emotional value of things in our lives have a higher value than the monitory simply because we are beings of emotions. There is nothing wrong with holding things in an emotional value so long it does not consume us to the degree that we cannot function. I truly wish that your porperty is ok, I cannot imagine being in the path of a hurricane in that capacity that you all went through. I am thankful for all that made it out safe and alive.

I also hold on to things and my hoarding started with makeup then I went through a really bad depression and turned to yarn. And I have things from years ago that I also cannot let go. I think mine comes from growing up poor in nyc and not really having anything . The. I had my kids 5 but only bc I had a set of triplets and I worked to give them what they needed and wanted esp when tax season came around!! Always took care of them first!! And today I cannot crochet bc it hurts my thumb but knitting does t bother me and so I’m knitting now lol tfs

Make the blanket and buy the yarn for a cardigan. If you can walk around and you aren’t hurting for bills then you’re okay. Plus you can buy yarn for your business, which is the channel.

So glad you are safe and well! Hoping your property is recoverable. Not far from your vacation spot - just north of Gatlinburg is a disaster from flooding and dam overflows- there are many people missing. Farms completely lost - I am South of the damage but praying for all those in harms way not that far from me.
So sad… reminds me of Ft Meyers Beach and Sanibel being wiped out a couple years ago.

Nancy I have problems with giving up things that were given to me.Even yarn that was given to me the only way I can do it is to make something for charity. I grew up with little money and I think that is part of it if I get rid of this I might need it and not be able to replace it.I have clothes that I can’t wear because they are too small I can give away the ones that are too big as I have a friend that can wear them.so happy that you and your family are safe.

I can deal with the hurricane but tornado no down
So thankful you all are doing good. Tropical storm Helene has devastated parts of northeast Tennessee too. Whole communities have been flooded out. Large sections of roadways, bridges, interstate highways have completely washed away from flood waters. Homes floating down rivers, whole little towns completely wiped away. Many of TVA dams have breached and it looks like Niagara Falls from the runoff. This is the first time in over 100 years this area had so much flooding. Thankfully my area didn't get flooded as I don't live near a river. I heard the Governor of Tennessee just say so far they know of 53 deaths from the floodwaters. If you and Tim had still been in the Gatlinburg area, you probably would have had to evacuate.
Nancy, I kept thinking about all of you and praying for you. That was a nasty storm we felt the trailing end here in Miami, so I can imagine how bad it was all over the West Coast of Florida. I'm glad your boat was not at your other property I hope you don't have too much damage but I've see footage of the town it doesn't look good. It's not only small town folks who don't evacuate it's an old Florida mentality my family didn't seek shelter during Andrew. Thank God my cousin and her family survived by sheltering in the only room in their home left with a roof the rest of their home gone. Anyway I'm glad you all are safe remember that everything can be rebuilt people are what's important. Praying for everyone that has been affected by the storm.
I’m sure your son went to New York to find you some yarn😂. Couldn’t tell you. You may have a lot of yarn, but also do a lot with it. As I’m looking at my yarn in boxes. It’s gonna be Christmas throws for family members, got to get on it! Glad you’re all safe. Prayers for those in need.
What do I do when I wake up and can't get back to sleep? I watch my crochet friends' videos. I woke up at 3 am. I have been watching Tatmoma73, Juan, the yarn addict, and Nancy, to name a few. I am so glad you are safe from the storm. We are, too. It went to the West if us where it did much damage. Prayers for all who were affected. ❤
I’ve lived in Alabama and Mississippi all my life and don’t remember anything over a cat 3. That’s devastating in itself. That’s also why I prayed while it was going through. Thank the lord the back side of the eye broke up a lot before coming on land. I know I don’t have to tell you that as bad as things are it could’ve been so much worse. I just happened to think. I wonder if you showed your deed if they would let you into that area.

I am so glad you are safe. My son works at one of the Generac companies, but not the one that make the whole house generators. They make the one that go to businesses.
