It’s a good RUclips day when you roll from a Gayna September vlog to an Ali Vlogtober!
Very very true. 🎉
Couldn’t have put it better yeah 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Vlogtober with Ali going to be good month 👍
Very well noted! 👍🏻 Same with me
yes for sure the perfect combination
The Last Homely House RUclips channel for all things quilts , I’ve been watching since lockdown Kate is lovely x She also has chickens x
Hi Ali. Thank you so much for taking the time to record daily videos this month. I have followed you for quite a few years and I am just so grateful for the creative quality you add to your videos. They are just so perfect! I have shipped in your online business before to show my appreciation and I will probably go back to it again for the same reason (other than the fact that I love what you sell 😊; I put it in my classroom for everyone to enjoy). Thank you again.
YAYYYYYY, I'm SOOOOO happy its Vlogtober again. Very much looking forward to the whole month with my favourite family. Lovely as always see to Mia. She is a star in your vlogs. See ya tomorrow guys. Get well soon Dan. I hope you feel better very soon. x
Jumping for joy with your vlogtober, Ali. Thanks so much 💖
Sewing the hexagons together you put two right sides together and oversew with small stitches just picking up the minimum amount of fabric. Sew a hexagon to each side of the middle one and sew the edges of the six hexagons together. It can get a bit fiddly as you continue adding more hexagons but it’s great fun. I’m sorry that I can’t direct you to a RUclips video about this. I learned patchwork and quilting at school in the mid 60s along with other needle crafts.
Yay! Aside from the general delight of your daily vlogs, I’m never sure what extra tidbits I’ll walk away with. Today I will thank you for the reminder to check my husband‘s coat pockets. I know I need to mend one of them. I just need to figure out which one. Thank you also for the recommendation for the Thai soup. That sounds fabulous. Congratulations on your moment of fame in that magazine and on your new car.
The last homely house..Kate has some amazing videos to help you with your hexies..
Yay it’s Vlogtober season! Always look forward to your videos Ali x
A lovely vlog! I admire your daily dedication and discipline (with my ADHD, something I don't have). Hello from Ramsgate! ❤
I can't believe it's October already. This year has really gotten away from me. I'm sure the next weeks and your lovely vlogs will help me get back in time 🎃🧶🍁
So happy to have you back for Vlogtober! And I live in the US, so I had to look up a Citroen C1 & it’s so darling! So excited for you!
Yay! I love Vlogtober with you and your family! 🍂🍄🍁🌰🎃
Yes! It’s Vlogtober! 🍄 I’m so excited 😆🙌
I know how you feel Ali. My wonderful little Nissan I had for twenty three years had to be scrapped a month ago and I cried when she went and I miss her a lot.
I love when you do monthly vlogs!! Please tell Dan I'm sorry to hear he's feeling poorly and I hope he gets well soon. It's been awhile since we've seen him and he's been missed.
Yes...vlogtober! A whole month following Ali now. Gives me vlogmas vibes. I am a quilter but here we use a different stitch to sew the hexies together which is a whip stitch with an extra stitch in it. You reuse the papers but only remove them once there is a hexie sewn around the whole hexie and it can then be removed. I just got a couple of the same books on Audible. I also got Pandora by Susan Stokes-Chapman. I heard a 15 minute sample and it drew me in immediately. Looking forward to spending this month watching. 🧶📚🍂
I love your description of "eyeball books". I'm the same, some books are easier to read than listen too. I find I can't concentrate on listening while I'm driving either😜 I envy you that skill on your drive to work 😂. Thanks for vlogtober 🍁🌰
The House on the Cerulean Sea is a wonderful book. Thank you for a great start to Vlogtober.
Thank you for doing Vlogtober again. It is always so nice yo see you and your family caring for each other and living a normal live like many of us have.
Wishing you a happy October!
Greetings out of the Netherlands,
Marjan 🌷
Hooray! Vlogtober with Ali right on the heels of September with Gayna. Life is good. I am in the midst of listening to The Rose Code based on your recommendation. I love it! I was hiking today through the forests of an ancient volcano crater east of Portland, Oregon (Larch Mountain). There were so many different mushrooms and fungi and I thought of you.
I’m so excited that vlogtober is here! And thank you for being kind enough to mention the Etsy, I really appreciate it! Fab choice of book and I hope you continue to love it ☺️💛
Love watching your daily vlogs! Hope that Lilia is having a fab time at uni :)
Yaaaahhhhhh😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊to vlogtober❤❤❤❤
with love from a fellow momma book worm to 3 precious sons 21, 18 and 8 year old here in dubai ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🥮🥮🥮🥮🥮🥮🥮🥮🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁
Yayyyy!!!! Happy Vlogtober 🎉
Happy Autumn, Ali! Kate at The Last Homely House is a super quilter and does beautiful English Paper Piecing! I followed her instructions… a joy!
Yay for Vlogtober! Very exciting to be changing your car but you need something reliable when you have to drive to work. Hope you think of a name! See you tomorrow - take care xx
Yay excited for vlogtober with you Ali 🎉❤
Natural every day living amazing to watch ❤
Yay!! Lovely to see you this month. I’m also doing Vlogtober on my new channel. Bestest wishes to Lilia!!!! Hope Dan feels better. It’s been raining here since last Wednesday and I’m so over it. 😂
Hi Ali. Vintage Sewing Box by Emma Jones is an excellent site to learn about English paper piecing. Looking forward to al your October vlogs x
Have a look at Lilly and the bee, she is lovely and she recently did a tutorial on EPP and also made a great craft bag too. Xx
At 29:05 when you hit the glass of the lamp, you played it to the beginning of "Down Under" by Men at Work. 😂😂😂😂😂
I'm so excited to spend the month with you! I'm doing Vlogtober as well. I know it's a lot of work! Thanks for sharing your time with us! ❤
Wow, I can't believe Lillia has gone to Uni already. My gosh, where does the time go. Sending you all a big squish ❤
Last Homely House for how to do English paper piecing. Don’t take the paper out yet!
Loved the first vlog and looking forward to the rest of October. With regards to the quilting, like to watch The last homely house, lots of quilting advice, chat and a generally nice cosy channel. 🙂
Last Homely House East of the Sea for quilt tutorials. Kate is lovely and has been teaching her daughter in law to make her first quilt. She has rehomed her chickens as she was ill last year but still has a pet goose and cats.
I am so happy that you are doing Vlogtober ! I did not know that you can return books to Audible ! Can you explain ?
Ali! Be warned!!! EPP is highly addictive, once you get started it's hard to stop! Learned how on the you tube channel. The Last Homely House....Kate is a wonderful teacher and you will enjoy it! I've completed two quilts and working on #3....yes, you can stitch the pieces directly together, and yes you can most certainly reuse the papers if you are careful about removing them after they are joined...exciting to learn new handicrafts isn't it? Looking forward as always to follow you for October! thank you for sharing ....
I agree about Kate on The Last Homely House! A great resource - and teacher - for EPP. Enjoy!!
Lots of votes for Kate! And thanks Patti for the warning ⚠️ 😄😘
Have a look at Kate from The Last Homely House for quilting knowledge. I think you’ll love her for more than quilting but she does show you how to do English paper piecing.
Kate from the last homely house has a great tutorial on her hexes
❤❤yippee,,,🎉🎉
Yeah for october
Exciting 😄
ELAINE 🏡
Chickens are looking good ❤x
Wonderful loved that. if you pop over to Kate at the "Last homely house" vlog not only will she show you how to make beautiful quilts step by step she also sells those hexagons in her beautiful handmade shop and to top it all you will fall in love with her, her beautiful colourful cosy cottage and fabrics, trips out in Northumberland, gardening, cooking and general loveliness. Good luck so glad its autumn I'm so much happier. Xxx
Thank you for the tip!! 🪡 🤗
Congratulations on your new car! Last Homely House for all things hexi.
I love vlogtober. 🍁 Do you have a recipe for the sausage casserole?
Yeah🎉🎉🎉🎉, we get you for a whole month🎉🎉🎉🎉!!! I will miss the ladies who did September vlogs,,,gayna, Paula and Rachel.
Yay Vlogtober!!! Excited for you to have a new ride, with a back up camera and Bluetooth!! Woohoo! And a rainy day muddy walk - brilliant start!!
Hallelujah, it's OCTOBER!!! I LIVE for this month!!! 🍁🧡💛❤️🍄🌻🦇🎃🥰(I'm still drivng my almost 25 yr old Jeep because MY father bought it for me in 2000 before he passed away. Still driving beautifully! I understand the sentimental attachment! ☺️❤️)!
Stitch with Rachel is fabulous for quilting …. Looking forward to vlogtober 😊

Yah!!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 it’s vlogtober 🍁🍁🍄🟫🍂…. It’s going to be great 😊😊 what a wonderful start to the day but now am running late for work 😬😬 but hey it’s vlogtober so who cares 😂😂…… 🍁📖💞🍂
Yay, Vlogtober. Loved the "guest appearance" of Mia, complete with purrs. Looking forward to having an "Ali" vlog everyday. Hope Dan feels better soon. Take care and see you tomorrow. 😊😊
Yay, wonderful that you're back with Vlogtober. Glad that Lillia is settling in so quickly. Great to see you've got Victoria's bookmarks. Recommend The Story Collector by Evie Woods and Paper Cup by Karen Campbell on Audiobook ❤📚
Kate at The Last Homely House for wonderful quilting and patchwork - but a wonderful Pillowcase or cushion would be a brilliant start - EPP is a wonderfully calming craft - think you will love it and its portable!!! xxx
Just want to say thank you for introducing me to Spin & Blether, I’ve just ordered some beautiful self striping yarn.
Ali Emma Jones at the vintage sewing box does lovely English paper piecing projects.
I just started “The House On The Cerulean Sea” ! I’m so happy you enjoy vlogging and are willing to share your days with us. I’m cozied up watching vlogtober and knitting the Champagne Cardigan.😁 A perfect afternoon retreat before the kids get home.
It’s an exciting day when your vlogs start Ali, it will help as I’m missing Gayna, Paula and Rachel’s vlogs ⭐️⭐️⭐️🍄🟫🍄🟫🍄🟫🎃🎃🎃
Great job Ali, it’s Vlogtober again! Inspired by you I’ve just cinched my latest cross stitch (“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers”) and not backed it. See you tomorrow. Xx
Happy Vlogtober! I've been so excited about this period. A whole month of vlogs with you Ali and I'm also starting a bit of a staycation, that will be all about books and knitting. Especially sock knitting 😁
Hooray for Vlogtober! And for Mia's fluffy behind in the shot! 😉
This was so nice I love vlogtober. So happy that Lilia is off to University. I know she will have a ball. How are you? I was so happy when my son went but, I missed him terribly.
Always love your videos, podcasts & vlogs Ali 😍😍😍. So happy you have decided again to do vlogtober , cheers 🤗👏💕❤️🥰🤗😊
Thank you for doing vlogtober again.
Isn’t it amazing how the narrator can make or break an audiobook. One of my favourite books is “Cider with Rosie” but the unabridged audio version was read by Laurie Lee and his voice was phlegmy and I just couldn’t stand it. My favourite narrator is Susan Ericksen.
oooooh Congrats on the new wheels.........looking forward to going with to pick it up and commiserations on the demise of the old car - sad but you need to stay safe xox
So excited to see you again! I'm looking forward to Vlogtober 🍂🤍
Fabulous first day Ali, looking forward to spending the month with you ☺
So happy to see you back with Vlogtober. Looking forward to your daily vlogs, always love them. Could you tell where the music you used in this vlog is from? Really loved it.
I love your Vlogtobers, Ali. They make me miss England so much, but in a good way. ♥️🧶🍂🍁
Hooray for Vlogtober. Just watched your video as a bit of afternoon me time as I seem to have a lot of people demanding a bit of me right now! Have you tried any of Sally Page's books? I think they are very engaging. I am reading them with my eyes, rather than listening. I think Kate at the Last Homely House may be the person to watch for English paper piecing. Guessing there will be a playlist to help you find the best options on her channel.
🇨🇦 good morning. Oct 1 in northern BC has brought us Snow.
Time to start the Christmas mittens and stockings.
It is very early to get snow, even this far north , it will most likely be melted again by tomorrow
Yahoo Ali's back on Vlogtober can't believe it has already been a year. Love it, can't wait to see what you bring to this years Vlogtober.😊
I totally agree with you about shopping for clothes and cars!! My 19 year old car failed the MOT recently and I had to go looking for a replacement. Got a 4 year old one. Things have changed so much in the intervening years that the cars are now basically computers on wheels. I love it but it takes a bit of getting used to. Health to drive your new one and thank you for Vlogtober. x
Congrats on getting a car! 🚙
Yeah Vlogtober-my favourite season!🧶🍂🍄🍁
If you typ sewing hexagons on youtube you find several tutorials. It is not difficult at all. You can take the papers out IF all sides are sewed together.
Have a look at The Last Homely House you will love Kate she's a fabulous quilter and she has an EPP tutorial . Xx
Yay! The best time of year. I've been rewatching your Vlogtobers of years past to get into the spirit 🎃
We love long videos..Keep them comming please Thaxs.
🤭🤭 love my car rear camera. What a joy it is and a joy that you are here for this month. Delighted Lillia is having a blast. ❤
Watching you whilst waiting for my son to finish football training. I have this 4 nights a week. Then my husband takes over at the weekend as he manages my son’s district squad in Kent. So I know exactly what you mean about football. Does Phoebe play District football or is it just club football?
What is the beautiful piece of piano music from your walk ?
Love the light gorgeous. Happy Vlogtober.❤
Love your videos happy vlogtober 💝💝💝
kiko sabi is a you tuber who dies small EPP english paper piecing (not tutorials) but lovely to watch her make EPP
Hexi... Lily and the bee did a thing with these a few weeks ago, she makes bags👍
Three cheers it’s vlogtober! 🍁 🎃 🕯️ ❤️
Always love your vlogtober!🧡🍁🧡
What a wonderful start to Vlogtober 😊
paraphrasing Anne Shirley, 'I'm so glad I live in a world where there are vlogtobers'. Yay! what will happen to your old old car? (not the new old, haha) Will you sell it? donate it to charity? xD How exciting, buying a car on a whim!
Thank you Victoria! My old car will be scrapped 😢 The garage gave me some money for scrap value. RIP 🚙
Congrats on the new car! 🚗
Enjoy your Citroen C1. I love mine. He’s called Colin. Happy travels.
Colin! Love it!
I listened to Very Irregular... and liked it but felt like it really didn't need to romance bit. Magic Lessons was a long slog for me! I'm listening to The Spellshop right now and it's good so far. I also really liked Agatha Raisin and the Quiche of Death! All on Audible.
I like the sound of the Spellshop and Agatha Raisin 😃
How lovely to "see" you today! I guess I expected to see today's episode, tomorrow. Lol. Thank you so much for the Lillia update. I knew she would settle in but happy to hear the transition has gone so brilliantly. I am thinking good thoughts for you and Dan. It's a huge change for both of you to have Lillia so far from home. Congratulations on the new car! Is it yellow? 😂💛💛💛
I WISH it was yellow - that’s my ultimate goal! 😄
Im so excited for Vlogtober!! I love Kate Quinn books. The Briar Club was excellent. I found it a little different than her other books, and took me awhile to get into it, but ended up loving it. She does such an amazing job of character development in her books.
Totally agree! I still have many of the characters living in my head 📖
Emma @emmajonesvintagesewingbox or Kate @thelasthomelyhouse. Both of these lovely ladies give excellent advice on English Paper Piecing EPP from the basics right through to more adventurous projects.
Welcome to the wonderful world of hand sewing. I really enjoy it.
Lovely vlog.
Sharon 😘
Vlogtober 😍 yayyyy! I’m so glad you’ll be accompanying me along this month which I love, but it’s going to be a tough one for me this year 😅 hugs from Sardinia 🍂
A tough one?🙁 I hope some vlogtobers will help ❤️😘✨
I love your Vlogtober! So many things to be grateful for this time of year. I also loved The House In The Cerulean Sea. I listened to it on audiobook and the narrator was sooo good. If you ever feel like re-reading it, I recommend the audiobook for maybe a little something different. I’ve been trying to convince my 29-year-old daughter to read it because I think she would love it too. I plan on reading it again myself. Hope you love it.
I adore it so far, such a gentle loving story with a hint of fantasy 💖
Ooh so excited xx
