Wundervoll!
I had enjoyed, rather heard of as passing reference, Monteverdi's magical music lasting one or two minutes based on the requests of listeners in short wave radios stations and that too occassionally. At long last, I am lucky enough to enjoy the great music of Monteverdi of more than one hour duration! Who can say that I am not blessed? Of course thanks to you and the internet! Gracias.
Magistral performances of such important pieces of Monteverdi's exquisite, beautiful and consoling church music. Thank you for this magnificent upload.

Obviously, this it's a part from Monteverdi's extensive sacred collection Selva Morale E Spirituale, which it must be among the major volumes of sacred music from early baroque along to several collections by Schütz such as Psalmen Davids, Sacred Symphoniae... This music it's so brilliant. Truly, Monteverdi was a ''vocal magician''. We hope the next parts. Thank you!
This is not a good reference recording. I would encourage anyone who reads this to check out La Venexiana's or Le Nuove Musiche's recordings, which are both more convincing (and up-to-date).
This IS a 'reference recording' : Corboz recorded the COMPLETE Selva, which as far as I know had never been done. This was the starting point to which everyone referred to everytime a new recording was made. Of course, this was over 50 years ago, musicology was not what it is today, and this version is as much 'historically informed' as it could be at the time. Saying that recordings made in the 2000s is more authentic is a useless truism.
@@a.f.4248 I guess I think of “reference recording” as meaning it’s the one you should listen to, which this one is not in my opinion. I don’t see how saying it’s inauthentic is a truism, though? I’m just saying I think there are better ones to listen to, which has nothing to to do with when it was recorded.

Uplifting, soothing and timeless. Gloria indeed.

Beautiful!
What a beauty!
Timeless!
From 1:00:50 on its just a unbelievable brilliant ending.
This is Part I : 1 hour and 11 minutes.
The whole recording of the Selva by Corboz is 7 hours and 22 minutes or so.
Where are are the other 6 parts ?
