Usually I don't comment in RUclips, but I couldn't resist commenting here. Got my TOEFL scores today. I didn't do an iota of preparation & didn't even know the format of the exam till the previous night. Literally simply read about the format on ETS site and stumbled upon your videos and watched them for 1-2 hours and that's all. Scored 110 overall (29 in Writing) and I am really grateful for your videos. Keep up the good work Michael! :)

Hi Michael. To be perfectly candid, I haven't figured that out yet. I want to go for higher studies in US/Europe, but still torn between choices. So simply took the exam since most universities require a decent score in TOEFL/IELTS. After taking TOEFL for 1st time just like that, I thought I had to retake the exam but was quite happy when results were out. I owe that to you :)

All the parts of the template (including "the article notes") are followed by "that". When this happens to me in a normal conversation I get nervious because I think native-speakers don't use "that" as frequently as language learners do. Hi Michael, I wrote a test on 13th, Jan and I am here to report some changes in the integrated writing task. Instead of challenging the statements in the reading, the lecture provides solutions to each problem referred in the article. I think it is a new style created by ETS. Maybe you want to cover that when recording a new video.

Hey, you said that the structure of the reading will always be the same as the structure of the listening. For example. Reading: problem 1/ problem 2/ problem 3. And listening Opposes Problem 1/problem 2/ problem 3. However, I am using the official guide to the TOEFL test" Mcgraw Hill" Blue color. And I got a integrated where the reading idea 1. and listen idea 1 is about reading idea 3

    Hi Michael,
If the task in the integrated essay is to 'Summaryoze the main points in the lecture, explaining how they cast doubt on the ideas in the reading passage' would it then still be appropriate to begin each body paragraph with 'The author contends that...' etc.?
It probably seems a bit silly because I think they are asking to be focusing on the lecture, but if it works, then I don't mind doing it...

Could you please have a look over my essay ?
The reading and the lecture are both about productivity and rewards which somehow have a connection. The author of the reading believes that rewards increase the productivity. The lecturer challenges the statements made by the author. He is of the opinion that none of these links are correct.
First of all, the author suggests that when is given a price for an etiquette it tends to be repeated. It is mentioned that in many business, the workers that work hard receive a money reward. This argument is being challenged by the lecturer. He says that people want respect and money for their work. Furthermore he argues that a reward for every well done job can lower the productivity.
Secondly, the writer contends that whatever the reward is, it improves employee attitudes. The article notes that this action is described b business books. The lecturer, rebuts this by asserting that a reward equals with punishment. He elaborates on this by mentioning that many workers tend to feel manipulated when they receive a prize, additionally they might get disappointed because of the expectations of their reward.
Finally it is stated in the article that, individuals are physical bodies and require the application of some external motivation to start their activity. The author establishes that is possible to convince people to achieve astonishing results if the reward system is well structured.
The lecturer on the other hand posits that when people have a problem at their job, they keep it secret. He puts forth the idea that consulting an adviser may shatter their reward.
