Hi Karen, I love the fabric you’ve chosen for Esther. I think you just need to change the colour of the leaves to a darker green. Thank you for the wonderful videos you have done. Merry Christmas to you and your family.🎄
Hi Diane, so glad you enjoyed the video and thanks so much for your nice note. I wondered if changing the green might be a solution. Thanks for your comment about this, I may give that a try. 🙂 Merry Christmas! 🎄🎄🎄
I wasn't sure if you knew that Esther was Lori Brechlin's sheep (Notforgotten farm.). That wonderful chart is a tribute to her. Eshter died a few years ago, she was often featured in Lori's blog. I have the chart too and hope to stitch it some day.

Hi Meline, so glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for your nice note! You are very welcome for the “gifts”. Have fun exploring Radio Garden and the cinnamon roll recipe! 🙂 Thanks again!
Hi Karen love that you share so much knowledge. I love those fruit baskets too. I learned a little trick about 15 years ago, take a picture of what you are working on and most times you can spot a mistake. I use this for my quilting also.😊
I’m so glad you tried 1/1 on 25 count Lugana!! I convinced Katherine- Stitching in Costume and have been trying to convince Sarah - Sarah’s Stitchy Spot to do this! I find 1/1 on 25 count to be quite easy and so my larger pieces are all stitched this way, and now I’m thinking of moving up to 32 count 😊
Hi Angela! Thanks so much for your nice note and I’m so glad you enjoyed the video. I really do love stitching 1/1 on 25 count Lugana. I agree, it is very easy to do and looks so nice. 🙂🙂 Thanks again for your nice note.
So glad you enjoyed the video and thank you so much for your nice note! 🙂 Isn’t the Sarah Milthorp sampler lovely?!? Should be on general release by HATS sometime in 2024. It’s a beauty! Thanks again for your note
Sarah Clark is beautiful. It is on display at the entrance to the Attic. I will be finishing it in the next week. 🎉 But the border I found v difficult 😊. Enjoy and it is a great chart
Thanks, Janet! I was able to visit The Attic last January, so many amazing samplers! I haven’t started Sarah Clark yet, but it is kitted and I’m looking forward to it. 🙂
Hi Karen, I am intrigued with the over one on 25 count. I am an Aida stitcher and currently stitching on 20 ct. I think I could move on to 25 ct lugana if my eyes will let me. (Ha!) I love all your patterns and possible starts. I, too, have all the same patterns. I would like to wish you and yours a Very Merry Christmas and hope to see you at the next TRSG meeting. Take care and happy traveling.
Hi Sherry! So glad you enjoyed the video and thanks so much for your nice comment. 🙂 You should give 25 ct Lugana a try. I’m really enjoying working on it. (I do have to wait higher power “readers” when I stitch, so it is fairly easy to see the over one on it If you decide to try it, start with a lighter color that isn’t over-dyed. It is easier to see. Working over 1, I used 1 strand of floss. If I worked over 2, I would need to use two strands. I’m looking forward to our next TRSG meeting! See you there and Merry Christmas! 🎄🎄🎄
I enjoyed seeing all the patterns you have. There are some very pretty ones. Several that I would like to buy. Enjoy traveling and stay safe. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. See you in February.
Hi Sandy, I’m so glad you enjoy the videos and thanks so much for your note. I appreciate it so much! You are going to love the cinnamon roll recipe. They are so tender and yummy. It’s a family tradition to have them on Christmas morning . Thanks again for your note. 🙂
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I’m going to add that Sarah Milthorp to my wish list - it’s gorgeous! And thanks for showing those Norfolk pieces and your Mom’s recipe. I will give them a look too.
So glad you enjoyed the video and thanks so much for your nice note. 🙂 I believe Sarah Milthorp will be released to the general public sometime next year, possibly even early 2024. It’s a beautiful sampler. . Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you as well! 🎄🎄🎄
Thankyou for discussing the bees wax to use on my floss..I look forward to your video..I enjoy your stitching..and I learn so much from you…have a merry Christmas and a healthy happy new year
Hi Linda, thank you so much! I’m so glad you enjoyed the discussion and I learned quite a bit researching it. It was a good question! Thanks so much for your nice note, wishing you a Merry Christmas 🎄 and a Very Happy New Year!!
It’s it fun!?! I enjoy popping around to listen to different stations. 🙂 So glad you enjoyed the video and thanks so much for your nice note ! 🙂 Merry Christmas!🎄🎄🎄
Hi Karen, I discovered your channel a few weeks ago. Your tips and information are helping me a lot as I get back into cross stitch again. Thank you for the gift links. I'm having great fun on the Radio Garden! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Hi Terry, so glad you are enjoying the videos and thank you so much for your nice note. Isn’t Radio Garden fantastic? I’ve had such fun listening to different radio stations from around the world. 🙂 Merry Christmas, and a happy new year to you as well!
Enjoy your programs, always learn something new. You mentioned that you use Vicky Clayton silks. I’m using them for the first time and was wondering if you would talk about how you end your threads. I’m noticing my ending threads are coming lose and showing up on the stitched side of the linen. Thanks again for your program.
Hi Sharon, so glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for your nice note. I usually end my threads by weaving them under three or four stitches, in several different directions. This tends that to help hold the ends which can be slick. If the ends are running under two few stitches, or in just one direction. sometimes they can come loose. Hope this helps and thanks so much for your note!
You've made wonderful progress on some of your samplers. I love the color combinations you choose. You will have lots of kitted projects and new starts to choose from in 2024. Look forward to seeing what you choose to stitch. Merry Christmas!
Hi Pat, thanks so much 🙂 I should be focusing on just a few WIPS, but it’s so tempting to start something new. 🙂 Haven’t really decided on what to do in 2024, but will have a goal to finish some of my WIPS. I think I finished 8 in 2023. . . . Thanks so much for your nice note. Merry Christmas! 🎄🎄
FYI. With Thy Needle and Thread has a Summer Schoolhouse series of 4 charts I think, that we’re all designed to be stitched 1/1 on 28 count Mushroom I think. That could be something fun for you to do on your dive down the over 1 rabbit hole 😊
Thanks, Angela! I have those charts and was just looking at them yesterday as I was pulling charts. They are so pretty! Hmm, will have to ponder that! Thanks again!!
Karen, I always get such good ideas from you, and this time it’s the over one on Lugana, which I can’t wait to try. The sampler you showed is beautiful! Have a merry Christmas 🎄🪡!
Thanks, Leslie! So glad you enjoyed the video and thanks so much for your nice note. Give the 1/1 on Lugana a try, it’s really quite fun. I’m enjoying it so much and am now deciding what to stitch next! 🙂 Merry Christmas! 🎄🎄🎄
Another spectacular video from a first class enabler!! I went to Norfolk Needlearts website and found that I could download PDFs of the samplers. Oops! Have a most wonderful Holiday Season, looking forward to seeing what you get up to xx
So glad you enjoyed the video and thanks so much for your nice note! I’m right there with you on the Norfolk Needlearts website and their PDFs. 😮 Thanks again!
Hi Susan, so glad you enjoyed the video and thanks so much for your nice note. Sarah Milthorp was an exclusive for Sampler Symposium in January of this year. I believe it will be released to the general public sometime in 2024. It really is a beautiful sampler. 🙂
Oh, Karen! You now have me looking at lugana in lieu of linen! As if I need to add stash! Thank you for the tip on Singer tapestry needles at HL. And all the fabulous charts you shared - I’ve been in a funk and not joyful in my stitches …I needed your push to start something that sparks joy for me right now. Look forward to the cinnamon roll recipe - I make cinnamon rolls for Christmas morning too, along with Swedish rolled pancakes, an egg casserole, ham, and a salad of spring greens, cranberries, pears, pecan and a homemade dressing. It’s just the two of us this year as Denis recuperates but, I’ll still make my Christmas breakfast/ brunch! Merry Christmas to you and your family!🎄❤️🎄
Georgia, so glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for your sweet comments. 🙂 I’m really enjoying stitching on Lugana over one. I’m surprised how easy it has been and I love the look of it. I like your comment about stitching sparking joy. That’s exactly it! Sometimes I need to switch projects as I get weary of one, knowing I will return back to it when it’s time. Your Christmas breakfast and brunch sounds absolutely delicious!! Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas! 🎄🎄🎄
Hi Jacqueline, so glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for your nice comment. On the 25 ct Lugana, I was using one strand of floss over one. Thanks again and Merry Christmas! 🎄🎄🎄
I have not stitched a Blackbird yet. It is not due to lack of charts! I ordered some 48count linen today, my highest count yet. Hope I’ve not bitten of more then I can do.
I love seeing all of your WIP’s and wanna do’s! I looked for Sarah Milthrop on HAT’s website and cannot locate it, was it an exclusive or where can I find it? It’s lovely!
Hi Susan, so glad you enjoyed the video and thanks so much for your nice note. Sarah Milthorp was a project we received at Sampler Symposium this year. I believe it will be released to the general public very soon. 🙂 Thanks again again for your note !
I found Pony Needles at Fat Quarter shop. Thank you for the video and sharing all your WIPs. Have a great time in January wherever you are going. Can you share the link or item name of the jewelry box?
Thanks for the information about the Pony Needles. I will add it to the list I’m putting together. I have two different sets of sewing cases. One set is a sewing box set from Hand and Lock. (I think I show them in detail in a FlossTube from about a year ago. The second set is a jewelry box set from Leatherology. I have the small and the medium one. I think I showed them also about a year ago. So glad you enjoyed the video and I appreciate your note so much ! Happy New Year!
I always enjoy your videos and the new things you are getting up to. Can you talk more about Lugana? I’ve heard of it, I know it’s an evenweave, but that’s about it. I know I can Google it but would love to know why you’re interested in it. As well, you were looking through a lot of charts to decide what designs you might want to do over one on the Lugana. What details or criteria were you assessing in the chart to determine which ones were good candidates? I have “At Home” by Brenda Gervais kitted up with a Color and Cotton floss conversion. I’ll be starting it soon. It’s such a lovely pattern and reminds me of southern Wisconsin near where I grew up. Happy Holidays to you, Karen!
Hi Jackie, great questions! I will talk about those in my next video. I do love Brenda Gervais’ “ At Home as well. Such a pretty design. I’m looking forward to working on it. So glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for your excellent comments. Happy Holidays!
Really enjoyed your video. I was wondering with the 25 count Lugana, how do you do the special stitches? I am an Aida stitcher and if I do a pattern with special stitches I usually just do the regular stitch instead or skip that area on the chart. What would be the difference between the 25 count one over one and a 16 count one over one for special stitches? Thank you for your insight.
Hi Bonita, so glad you enjoyed the video and thanks so much for your comment. When using the 25 count Lugana, I am stitching over one, so I’m choosing charts without specialty stitches. I haven’t used 16 count over one and I haven’t done specialty stitches when working over one so I’m afraid I don’t have much insight on that. If you stitch on Ada and would like to move towards stitching on linen, I would recommend using 25 count Lugana and stitching over two. That would allow you to do specialty stitches ( if you wish) and the even weave of the Lugana makes it easier, in my opinion, to see and to count. Hope that is helpful. Appreciate your good comments and thanks again. 🙂
Thank you so much for your insight. Due to vision issues, I will continue to use 16 or 18 count aida and stay away from the special stitches. @@karencombsstudio
Another wonderful episode! Thanks for sharing your wisdom and joy of stitching. I think you should just leave the “l” out of Sarah’s last name…who else will ever notice? I fell in love with Love Abides too and planning it as my January blessings sample, if I can wait that long to start it! Merry Christmas and have a joyous new year☺
Hi Connie, so glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for your nice comment! Leave out the “i” . . . now that is a very interesting idea! I hadn’t thought about that. I’m going to have to ponder that option. 🤔 Merry Christmas 🎄 to you and Happy New Year!
@@karencombsstudio well, now you have me looking at stitching over one on lugano. Ordered some mushroom from 123Stitch and will try with a smaller chart. Checking all the other comments, you may have just started a run on lugano!
Lots of nice things to see in this video!! I find it is better not to judge the color of a linen by the picture you get with the chart. Most of the time the picture is not at all, a good representation of the actual linen color. It can be so differentit is shocking. To me this is the hardest thing about ordering linen online unless it is a linen you have had before. I don't have a LNS and the nearest good shop is 3 hours away. Just my thoughts. Take them or leave them. Happy Stitching!!!!
Hi Christy, thanks so much for your comments. I agree, often the color on the cover photo is much different than the actual linen. I also have to order most of my linen online. It can be a challenge. Happy stitching and thanks again for your comments.
The Silver Needle has Pony needles. Love your flosstube!!
Thanks for letting me know and I’m so glad you enjoyed the video. 🙂
Thank you❤. Hope you receive as much joy each day as I do with your flosstubes. I don’t tell you often enough how much I value you. May you have a productive 2024. My head is spinning & my list is long from today’s video. Thanks again❤

I have not stitched a Blackbird yet. It is not due to lack of charts!
I ordered some 48count linen today, my highest count yet. Hope I’ve not bitten of more then I can do.
Hi Char, let me know how it goes with the 48ct. Will be curious what you think. 🙂
Thanks again again for your note !
@@bonitaharms9429 Happy to help. And thanks for your note! 🙂
Merry Christmas 🎄 to you and Happy New Year!
@@karencombsstudio well, now you have me looking at stitching over one on lugano. Ordered some mushroom from 123Stitch and will try with a smaller chart. Checking all the other comments, you may have just started a run on lugano!
@@connieenevold1745 let me know what you think once you try it. I’m really enjoying it. 🙂
Thread Heaven is the best. The round metal container is not as good. I love the navy plastic square wax.
I agree, the little navy cube was the best.
