i personally dont see the benefit of having a stand alone vr, id like to have a VR headset that cant run on its own so all the cost is on the lenses and just VR. AR or mixed reality is something i really dont need. Meta should do one headset specifically for PC VR only in my opinion. I dont see the VR market shifting to AR. thanks for the review.
AR on VR headsets really is for development of the ecosystem as a whole. For HMDs and future glasses. I think AR on headsets is a middle point where it's not the "end goal" but still can be useful for productivity in a pinch. Especially since the Quest is basically a computer running android. I agree with some of the benefits of a headset that has only lenses and screens, but I would still like an optional fob/pod to run it from my pocket or mounted to the back, rather than connected to a PC. But both pc and mobile cpu options are possible with the idea you mention. Plus it allows the display and lenses to be upgraded individually. Just have a displayport and or similar to the pod, and pass tracking data over a second usb or Bluetooth connection from the HMD. But make it more modular.
I have actually not directly used the sdk, I've only used it in the scope of Godot. They wrapped a lot of SDK features and functions so not sure what is standard and what isn't. I will be cooped up more in the winter time and plan to do more development via Godot, and possibly Flutter (if I can figure out any awkward compatability points there)
I much prefer the way the quest 2 sits on my face personally I have the quest 3 but the quest 2 is still much more comfortable for me and my face structure so I'm considering getting a quest 3s simply down to that comfort factor,
I would like to do some tests to confirm that the weight balance and fitment is similar to the Quest 2, compared to the Quest 3s. It sure feels like it although maybe even a little bit better fitted. I do have a harder time getting the ipd to feel right though because I fall between settings. I tend to agree that I think the Quest 2 and the quest 3s feel slightly better when you first put it on, but I feel like they start to hurt to wear them after a longer period of time, before the quest 3 does. Getting a non- stock face interface and strap does help though
@@bc_labs It could be down to how my face is structured but i much prefer the weight on the front of the headset nearer the front or maybe its just how i can put it on lol ( ive had elite straps for both quest 2 and 3 ) i still think the quest 2 is most comfy. I do agree though there is less strain on your face on the quest 3 atleast in the long term vs the quest 2

Talking of developing apps: what do you think about meta spatial sdk?
