I love this version of this film. Thanks for download the Soundtrack
Friedhofer, once referred to as the Bruckner of film music, composed so many scores that go unknown today. Thanks for this upload!
JK, you are most welcome.
I looked for this for a long long time!! Thank you so much!! Daniel from Rio de Janeiro.
A 7 minute suite that was a joy to awaken to this morning. I notice that Jerome Moross orchestrated Friedhofer's lovely music for this movie. This got me thinking of Bernard Herrmann who must have been one of the few movie scorers to orchestrate (and conduct) his own film music.
So glad you enjoyed it, Max. It's great score and 'tis a pity no one has sought fit to re-record it.
Thank you so much for posting.
i'm glad somebody uploaded this, but it's too bad it could'nt have been longer!
I truly wish the 'suite' was longer, but unfortunately it was the only music I could extract from the movie without sound effects and dialogue.
The music toward the end with all the brass playing is reminiscent of Delerue's score for Man For All Seasons.
I like so much this harmony. Beautiful!
Really beautiful and large. I catch the religious element, but could not be much more specific. Certainly worthy of Ingrid Bergman and St. Joan.
Most of the music comes from the king's coronation scene and thus contains a religious element. It's a rather long film and sometimes it is difficult for me to except Americans playing French characters (Jose Ferrer being a notable exception).
Are you aware of Hugo's music in a film called The Secret Sharer? It's uncredited and it is lovely! The video is on Youube as an anthology titled Face To Face. At one point, he uses a wisp of a theme that I recognized, and racked my brain trying to remember where I'd heard it. It finally came to me that it's in John Williams score for Jane Eyre.

I used to want to be like Joan of Ark. When I was 23, I attempted to lead The Canadian Armed Forces to Victory over The Taliban. But It didn't work. They thought that I was dumb and would not follow me.
