Cheers for the additional tips Chris. Do you use running poles? Have you tried them? I'm considering them, even though I'm an ultra newbie. Enjoy your weekend 👍
Hi and thanks again 😀... yes I do use poles, they've helped me massively on hilly ultras... definitely needed them in the 100 miler... harrier poles I use, make sure you size correctly...and practice using them
@@lets_go_run Thanks. I was looking at the Harrier foldable carbon poles because they're priced competitively. Emailed Harrier to ask if they'd support my weight. For example, if I was descending fast and wanted to use them to help me get over a big rock (for example). You know, plant them both in the ground, just get you in the air a little. They said they didn't recommend it ☹️ This was a technique I saw on a Salomon video on how to use poles and I thought it could be useful. The Salomon video was using aluminium poles, although they didn't state the material used, it was more of an instructional thing. Do you have they carbon ones and would you ever use them in the way described? I'm probably getting a bit too nitty gritty about it lol.
Hi I once used them to climb up and down a mountain where I live, slipped going down and the poles supported me as I scrambled to gain balance again... maybe they are saying wouldn't recommend due to if they say yes, and you use them as described and they snap then they'd possibly be liable?... but they are strong enough for my use of them
@@lets_go_run Cheers again. You're right, it's possible they'll be strong enough but Harrier need to cover themselves. I need to mull over the aluminium/carbon weight difference and the Harrier/bigger brand price difference...
