I honestly think RT is a gimmick and only proposed by people who have the top hardware to justify the purchase. I honestly have seen RT on and off, and it doesn't impress me in anyway. Also, the graphical difference between ultra and very high/high, is not much either. You'd have to zoom in on the details that are changed between those settings, but during actual gameplay, nobody's going to notice. Better to just play on high/very high and save some frames rather than running it on ultra for the sake of running it on ultra.

I was debating with myself if it's worth upgrading my 6950XT to a 7900XTX but I very rarely can see ray tracing unless I have to pixel-peep. The 7000 series is decent uplift but simply doesn't seem enough for me to lose money on selling my 6950XT and then pay the premium of a 7900XTX.

Currently I have the RTX 3070 which has served me well @3440x1440. Been thinking about upgrading already and have had a tough time deciding whether to stay with Nvidia or give AMD another try since the R9 Fury X. I've looked at the RTX 4070 Ti, 4080 and the 7900 XTX. I know the XTX is more powerful than the 7900 XT and easier to find in stock. All do impressively well in benchmarks except when Ray Tracing is used with an AMD GPU. IMO RTX gimps AMD GPUs making not really worth turning on. I'm leaning more towards the RTX 4070 Ti but I like what I see from the 7900 XTX.
@@muhammedgezer7475 Yeah, went with the 7900 XTX. I don't really care about that ray tracing crap anyway and it's a FPS killer no matter which GPU, RTX or not you use. I picked up the XTX used from a friend for $600.
What you feel most are the dips in framerate. Under 60 fps lows for 7900 XTX, under 40 fps for 6900 XT in first benchmark. I wouldn't want to play in 4k with either of those cards.
MW2 is a terrible benchmark for the 6900xt, cause the game is not optimized at driver level for that game. You made a terrible comparison there. (thats why the not supported tag was there. not because a "glitch") To do a fair comparison you must pit both of them to the latest game supported/optimized on the 6900xt and 7900xtx drivers and mw2 is not the rigth benchmark for that...

If you're playing a good game and you notice the raytracing, you're not playing a good game! When benchmarking and deliberately looking at comparisons, RT is certainly impressive but once you start playing a game it's next to meaningless. I'd take 60fps any day over RT of any kind
Honestly Cyberpunk with rt looks like any other game. Maybe the night scenes are mindblowing or something but walking through an NPC zoo doesn't look fun at all. I think people only talk about it because it's hard to run.
@@YoungGirlz8463 Personally, I think Nvidia want you to think that RT is important because you paid so much for your GFX card. @@GrundleGrump Agreed. Sometimes locking to 30fps can make the game smoother though, if you look at Daniel Owen's video with The Witcher 3 it makes a huge difference but thats just one game. @@SubOxyde it is due its not a popular option these days. the cost to entry is to high and there are virtually no games. i hope the VR market gets better but doesn't look great currently. People trying to get clicks want the popular topics, VR isn't one these days.
FYI, you should be pulling 135-145fps with CoD benchmark and the XTX. I suspect you are having an issue with windows trying to replace portions of the driver. As a test, DDU then re-install adrenaline with just the minimal install and run again. Curious
Maybe the capture software reduces the fps a bit too
I get 180fps ish with the 7900xtx at 4k. Sometimes it does hit 200fps
Yeah if my memory is not failing me i get more fps on cyberpunk as well. Though need to recheck my settings as well

Funny how people think high end GPUs just became expensive. Back in 2006 the 8800 ultra was $800-900 ($1200-1350 today) High end gpus have always been expensive.
Can't wait until we start seeing $4000 for a card
And mid range cards?
Would of been Good what was your power draw on both GPU's and what power supply you pc was running? hope you can answer this as i am thinking of upgrading soon.
Ray tracing is NOT good on Nvidia GPUs either. It's funny how y'all already fail to mention that.
Ok, as of tonight Amazon has refurbish 3080s at $667 and New 6900s at $649. What's the better thing to do if I where to pull the trigger now? Or just hold for a little while longer? My 1080 TI is 5 years old. £799 is the maximum I want to spend on a new card.
I need to find a card that's not too power hungry as my PSU won't handle it. 4070TI looks like a good buy for me but I just can't bring myself to pay that amount for a 70 series card.

I had the same issue, jumped from the 1080TI to a 4070TI, it is a great card for 1440p. Your other options are: wait for the 4070 or the 7800 XT, hope for a price drop or buy used.
MSRP is completely pointless, though. Maybe in some parts of the USA you can get 7900 xtx for 1k dollars, but no way is this the norm anywhere in EU.
yeah there were more than normal recently here, but it can be tough. The EU has taxes built into the price already too, so that remember that
There haven't been any new XTXs since launch day and now AMD has all those busted coolers to deal with and who knows how long that will take. It's not pandemic bad but the market is screwed.
My 6950xt destroys mw2 on ultra 1440p I have no desire to upgrade. Sapphire nitro + pure is insanely good for overclocking as well

I got an Asrock 6900 XT for $650 including 2 games last black Friday. Great card.
im seeing 3090s in the $600 range and 3080s in the 450-500 range. last gen high end gpus are going crazy cheap i gotta stop myself from impulse buying just because they are a good value

Did you remember to reinstall the driver and Radeon software -_-
where did you got the reference card?
did he use proper Display Port cables for the new 2.1?

I honestly think RT is a gimmick and only proposed by people who have the top hardware to justify the purchase. I honestly have seen RT on and off, and it doesn't impress me in anyway. Also, the graphical difference between ultra and very high/high, is not much either. You'd have to zoom in on the details that are changed between those settings, but during actual gameplay, nobody's going to notice. Better to just play on high/very high and save some frames rather than running it on ultra for the sake of running it on ultra.
The first timestamp a typo?
what software are you using to benchmark?
That is msi afterburner

I got myself the 7900xtx but for my wifes build I got the 6950xt for 699 with 50 bucks off my cpu also came with free 32 6000mhz ram. The cpu was a 7700x that also came with the new star wars game survivor. So a win win for us.
Hmm, I was getting 70-80+ FPS on ultra in 4k on the 4070ti on requiem... I'm here trying to decide whether I should return that and grab the XTX, but not convinced.
Just picked up a Gigabyte RX 6900XT Gaming OC for $555 new from Microcenter for my second rig. Pretty sure it's a steal. For some reason it was $5 cheaper than the Asrock RX 6800 XT Phantom Gaming D OC.
Pretty sure it is. Grabbed a 6950XT for 700 and shockingly it cost much less than my 3070ti at the height of the pandemic, despite being comfortably more powerful.
If I wasn't still using a 5700 xt and had a 6950 xt I wouldn't be even considering

Testing RT is utterly stupid of you. RT is far from interesting at this point I mean even path tracing is impressive but what does impressive do for you when u cant enjoy it ? GPUs are not mature for RT at this point or the developers are holding RT perf back so they can milk us. Whats the point in having DLSS or FSR to cheat ? If u cant pass 60fps with all the eye candy on with out having to use external hard drive to achieve it how can u boast about it ? Hey I'm a Fiat but I could be a lambo with AI installed...

MW2 is a terrible benchmark for the 6900xt, cause the game is not optimized at driver level for that game. You made a terrible comparison there. (thats why the not supported tag was there. not because a "glitch")

If you're playing a good game and you notice the raytracing, you're not playing a good game! When benchmarking and deliberately looking at comparisons, RT is certainly impressive but once you start playing a game it's next to meaningless. I'd take 60fps any day over RT of any kind
yeah the fps is certainly more important, but in a slow moving game you can definitely play it and notice the nice visuals too
Honestly Cyberpunk with rt looks like any other game.
I haven't met that many people who would currently choose to play at 30fps with slightly more accurate reflections. 30fps is absolute garbage in 2023. RT is a waste unless you build THE most expensive rig and money is no object.
@@GrundleGrump Agreed. Sometimes locking to 30fps can make the game smoother though, if you look at Daniel Owen's video with The Witcher 3 it makes a huge difference but thats just one game.
Honestly I feel the same way about 4K that you do about RT. 4090 is basically a 1440p/120Hz/max RT card and people actually want 240fps. It's all about high dynamic range. 👍
@@YoungGirlz8463 locking the fps to 30fps does do a lot especially if you are using a 30hz screen. my tv is 4k 30hz and I got a 4080 and even at 100fps I get screen tearing, but locking it to 30 fps is smooth as butter. I cant tell the difference between smooth 30 or 100 fps other then the screen tearing issue. plus lot less wattage and heat the gpu is barely doing anything..
