    Songwriter and producer Scott Storch is no stranger to success. After being drafted into hip-hop band The Roots in 1994 upon moving to Philadelphia, the group's first album Do You Want More?!!!??! leaned heavily on Storch's distinctive use of the Fender Rhodes and would help define their sound. Storch's playing would eventually lead him to Dr. Dre, for whom he would come up with the classic piano riff found on “Still D.R.E.” From there, Storch would go on to feature in and produce hit records for the likes of Beyoncé, Fat Joe and Justin Timberlake, becoming one of the most sought after producers of the mid-2000s in the process.
    His meteoric rise in the industry had its downsides though, the party lifestyle eventually leading to Storch entering rehab in 2009 and filing for bankruptcy in 2015. Since then, Storch has re-entered the music industry with more drive and inspiration than ever, working with some the most exciting names in modern rap, including Young Thug, Russ and Trippie Red.

    It's a classic song but all these years later the real story is out in the open... It's so messed up how the label did Jill Scott and Eve. Took Jill off the record even though she co-created the whole thing. And then Eve got no credit and did not get to appear in the video. It's not the Roots' fault but their label at the time. The original is a straight up Philly classic.

    I was a breaks and dnb DJ at the time and thought that the roots were so far ahead of their time to use that beat and you could tell that it was most likely q playing those drums live which was unheard of at the time

    If she was working in retail trying to get signed, well I guess she got paid.... still they should have rolled with her and not Badu... if she never had made it she might have been a bit pissed.

      I mean it’s not like they take away the publishing…who cares if you’re on the song lol, you get all the checks from writing the damn thing
      It worked out tho, and the Roots def gave her the respect cause they frequently get Jill Scott when they play it live

      She's credited as a songwriter, so she's definitely eating off the royalties.

    • @Paperbagman555
      @Paperbagman555 5 лет назад +2

      @@KardiFan2000 true about the royalties but since she came up with the track, it sucks that nobody will remember her for it. I know her name's credited but it's not the same as singing on it. People will associate Erikah Badu more because her voice is on that song. Jill's had a stellar career anyway though so it's ok
