I really like the look and how this truck runs out of the box, I'm glad to see there are some option parts for it because it's fun to add stuff to the trucks to make them slightly better. I'm digging the mods you have made in particular to your truck, and hopefully HobbyPlus gets that "metal gear" transmission straightened out for all customers.. I forgot how cheap the T Hunter is priced, $120 seems like a great deal to me for a starter 1/18th crawler.
Really liking my Trail Hunter too. So far I've just cut down on the number of screws holding the body in place, removed the foam from the stock tyres and mounted the battery low down in front of the motor along with the power switch. Drives really well, and seems pretty much on par with the FCX24 I've got. The turning circle on the stock portal axles is great, despite the extra length it can turn sharper than an FCX24. Main dislike I have right now is the motor/drivetrain - it's so noisy compared to the FCX24, and find it lacks torque a little, often need to add quite a bit of extra throttle for obstacles where I don't on the FCX. I guess this is expected with the smaller motor size, but I'll potentially upgrade to a stronger motor (but still brushed) down the line. Might try moving the servo onto the axle, but I do kinda like how it's different to the FMS there.
Another great video... I need to purchase a trail hunter... I purchased a rochobby fire horse..about 2 weeks ago but still hasn't arrived yet. There is only two channels on RUclips that I watch for info on micro Crawlers and yours is the one I go to for an honest opinion.
Yeah Matt look inside make sure they are still gears, just watched a guy yesterday on RUclips he bought that transmission pulled it apart and it had plastic gears inside he was pissed, but they’re sending him a new one just means you got a wait again that would piss me off. Can’t wait to get mine Trail hunter also got them shocks and the brass weights and the inner brass rings I’m just gonna put the rings in the front, Yep we’re here watching buddy appreciate you sharing
Looking like a great comp build. Axial! You paying attention!!! lol We will see how durable they prove to be, but the electronics rock in the hunter. Dropping some Fast Eddys in tonight to see just how smooth it can be. I`m not actually thinking they will make much difference, even with the bushings the Hunter is smooth. For a stock chassis it has lots of custom build potential.
I've just received my new T Hunter today. And the only option i've bought is this metal geared transmission. Same ref as yours : 240257 Since i've watched this video, i checked the gears inside the plastic housings. I've found metal gears, as expected.😊 No luck for you...😢
Schit happens, but I hope they just send out whole new transmissions to people. I HATE when something like that happens and they want me to package up the product and make the 2 hour round trip to the post office, then wait for them to get it. Then weight for them to get around to checking the defect. Then getting around to ship replacements via the slow boat milk run. They should suck it up and just express post replacements and smack the QC guy that fell asleep on the job.
Hi Matt, great vid thanks. Couple of things: 1. What do you think about a quick vid showing how you make your links? I know it’s not complicated but just in case you’ve got any tips or tricks. 2. Not sure if you’ve already done this but going on the general consensus the FMS FCX24 is BIG for a 1/24, would be interesting to see how it compares size-wise with some of these new-ish 1/18’s.
1 - yep, that would be good to see 2 - the Trail Hunter has the same track and ground clearance with it's portals as the FCX24, whilst having a longer wheelbase. From a scale point of view, I think the T Hunter is probably nearer to 1/24th than the FCX
Bro you're so fancy. Did the SOA help with static torque twist on inclines? Do you have a video on how you did the body so it pivots? Did you scavenge off a Rock Van? P.S. Your Amazon affiliate link didn't work for me.
Hi I really enjoyed this video I’ve just bought the T Hunter and a stripped the gearbox on day two so I have a new gearbox and an extra set of metal gears on the way , I want to change to a four link set up at the front can you give me the link to the rod ends you use and the rods so I can make my own links for some of my other trucks please , 🇬🇧
Dang just went to try to get those rims unavailable and it says don’t know if they’ll get them back oh well looking good though dude can’t wait to get mine, maybe I’ll get some mofo deep dish rims appreciate you sharing will catch on the next one
Ive just recently bought the rock van builders kit because im new to rc, and thought itd be a good way to get to know how things are put together and work. I'm not a fan of the standard wheels, so if I was to fit these injora wheels would I need to fit spacers to make them clear the portal housing?
Not sure whether to get this model or the evo version with the 2 speed? There is also that fx118 out that looks sweet! Really dig the unimog body though!
I would def go with the two speed version now that it’s available. Unlocks even more fun with the 2 speed! The fx118 is a little more performance based and less on looks so it kinda depends what you’re going for.
Where does one get a “double” connector for the shock mounting…got some aftermarket shocks but just realized the fitting needed to mount. Does scx24 stuff work?
Can You tell us the metal oil shock dimension hole to hole? decompressed and compressed... sorry for your trouble... those guys at FMS sell parts with no description!
Damn straight, they’ll be sending me a whole transmission already put together with steel gears if that’s what I pay for that’s what I want, I thought of doing the same thing glad I didn’t now. I will contact them first and say hey I’m going to order the transmission With steel gears you better check and make sure it is
I didn’t have a link with my shocks. Maybe it was with a servo on axle mount? Could be the 4th link for the front if so. They didn’t really have the soa mount when I did mine. I just made it work on my own. I just opened another set of these shocks though and I didn’t have any links in there.
Hmmm yeah I bought the shocks for evo and there like a short link on photo I'll just try it without 😅 thanks for reply should all be hear tomorrow n what wheel size u use 1.2?
Not much positive or negative difference really besides they come with metal ring and pinion gears. The cr18p also is chassis mounted servo so you have to buy the axle mount if you wanna use them on most custom builds.
Awesome! I need me one of these!! A couple vids ago you had what looked like wood kit from texoma rc I the background. it had a black cab on it, what cab was that? It looked super cool. Thanks for any help! Keep up the awesome vids & know how.
That body is from Tinker Time Rc. Check his stuff out. Lots of cool bodies. I usually line mine with some shoe goo because I’ve had a couple bust on me fairly easily. If you line them a bit they hold up much better! Here’s the one I have on that build. I love it! tinkertimerc.com/products/power-cab-2400
Do you think that it could be hurting your views by posting on Instagram and on Facebook you know cuz you're pretty much giving away the story already unless you just talk about something you're about to do I don't know I just look up your Facebook I just thought about this
Yeah it may. I feel like there are a few channels out there that get pushed by certain companies and RUclips a bit more because they never mention anything negative. The fact that I just speak how I feel on stuff kinda hurts my views but I’m not willing to sell out for some views lol
You sold me on this one. Buying one today

Really appreciate that! Hopefully the fire horse will show up soon. They were on Holiday and things got delayed pretty bad I think.
@@2fmrc yeah I ordered it right on their holiday.. I'm thinking it might be here mid February
i have a brushless rushmore coming... may have to look at this.

Wow another amazing video man keep them coming really appreciate all you do for the community
I'm starting to feel the MOG- bug .
Awesome video brother! Cool mods, sucks about that transmission not having the metal gears in it. Peace ✌️

Hey there sir, how would I go about extending the rear wheels out? I cant find any expended wheel base kits

Is the Transmission "gear box" metal?
If yes, then the plastik gears are no issue inside 😂
How did you get it to swing the body to the back? Did I miss that part?
Just wondering, can you get rid of the panhard bar, and make it a 4link without the servo on axle mod?
Why didn’t you use the SOA mount that’s made for the CR18P???
Because they didn’t make one until I made this video and showed how easy it was 😆

Can you do a fms/roc hobby lc80 2 speed?

Item ftx9447 is the shocks is that same u got?
which wheels are those? they look like the treal tybe b but deeper.
What size shocks did you put on there
What servo did you use on the T-hunter?
Stock. It’s really good for stock!
@@2fmrc Im planning to do the servo on axle soon. Hope it goes well.
Where did you find the grill?
What bearings would work in it?
Fast Eddy has a bearing kit for the entire truck

@@2fmrc Dang didn't know this. Thanks!
So what happened with the customer service?
They replaced them. Took 2-3 wks to get them probably but they sent a replacement transmission.
How are these portals different from the fcx ones?

Too much flex is only good for bad Facebook photos 🤣
