  • In this interview I am once again joined by Lama Lhanang, a spiritual teacher of the Nyingma Longchen Nyingthig lineage of Tibetan Buddhism and an expert in meditation, geomancy, art, cultural and historical studies, and Tibetan medicine.
Lama Lhanang discusses the Tibetan Buddhist and traditional Tibetan medical beliefs about death, including a detailed description of the death process itself, physical signs of imminent death, and the system of divination and omens that can indicate that one’s life will soon end.
Lama Lhanang reveals the methods and mechanisms of the yogic death practices of phowa, tukdam, and rainbow body, and tells stories of his own role in guiding his students through the death process.
Lama Lhanang also gives his heart advice to those facing death and to those who are supporting the dying, and explains how to die well.

When TIbetan lamas talk about the bardo and liberation, I think perhaps *the* question to ask is - what does it mean, to achieve liberation in the bardo? Unfortunately it doesn't get asked a lot.

It's one of those things where if you ask 1000 Tibetan lamas, you'll get a 1000 different answers.

In the case of the planet for example ....... A request would go out to the sun to initiate mountain retreat practice . The sun would perform the practice for earth as if it was the lama who is assisting .
That would mean creating a calm environment ( knocking all satellites out of orbit to grant pleasant silence due to total radio blackout thus silencing war activity ) . Then the elements will be released individually .
Volcanoes will blow joyfully , temperatures will drop dramatically , then the solarwind rapidly melts frozen water aspects ( like a microwave would ) into flow mode , the ocean levels will rise as if levitating ( after the ocean conveyors have slowed down / circulation stops ) . Waiting for the solarwind to separate it from the planet . But first the atmosphere will be ' blown ' away , leaving the earth breathless . That's when life leaves the planet .
Consciousness leaves with the water .
Just look at Mars and you see what it will look like from the outside .
By now the body is a dead THING/ planet ......if liberation is reached there won't be regrets and instead of trying to transfer life to a different platform , the stream is entered . It's a beautiful experience . No clinging , no hesitation just a blissful implosion of all complexity into no thingness .
That is if the planet is the ' dying person '
The same can of course be extrapolated and applied to the entire universe . You might be familiar with the story ?
It's all just a matter of scale .
Did that help answer your question a little bit ?
Or should I go into details of full enlightenment ? When matter ( all matter ) reverts back to source / light.
You will be able to experience this on a personal level when you reach enlightenment . For full enlightenment you then absorb all lifeforms into your heart ( like a black hole would ) .
Dying can be a lot of fun if you embrace the process joyfully .
I can only recommend it .
It's so much fun actually that you might want to make the moment of transition linger . Like playing with a jojo or bungee jumping . You can experience marvelous partial cancellation of gravity .
If you combine it with Amitayus practice and make offerings to the sutra you can make the blissful moment of death linger and linger . It's better than anything you can experience during life . Like a perfect orgasm without the complications that participating bodies would represent .
Practice gratitude , dedicate the bliss .......
I really don't know why most people freak out so much about dying . It's probably because they didn't live right and didn't have enough fun during life .
You can practice experiencing this in a harmonic egg .
      Its not cheating ......
      Its skillful means .
Hope this information helps and brings you joy .
      It's like they say
      The best comes last .

@@gabrielehanne580 for me personally, metaphors don't work here. And it's not really necessary to use them. We have terms in dharma, like citta santana and the 3 kayas that basically we could structure the answer to this question around, without the use of metaphors.
