- Jimmy planned to read a lot over the summer and that didn’t happen. Guillermo fell short too. So to make them feel better, we went out and asked people “What was the last book you read?”

This is sad for reals.
I love books.
I don't know. I read books every single day, but stick a microphone and a camera in my face and ask me what book I read last, and I, too, would answer "uhhhhh".
I know what you mean. Life has been so much better for me ever since I went back to reading nonfiction books. It's so funny, but I now think and communicate full thoughts faster.
I'm an avid reader!
@@chanelle5889I was just tryna remember the last book I read that I finished a week ago and I had to look it up! I don’t remember things too well, and I’m sure I’d have a harder time remembering if there was a camera and microphone in front of me!
2:00 - that list was so smooth it’s almost like he waited for this moment
I am slightly afraid after seeing this. Come on people, let's escape into more books! They free your mind, help reduce stress and, in some people's case, help them sleep without the use of pills!!! Reading is fundamental.
aww, should have held his hand. I feel bad for him.
I would definitely hold his hand even I would hug him
@@rosal10 like you can be an alpha cis hetero and still hold his hand. rejecting him is rude AF.
Covid bro...
Why not focus on the respondents who do read?
Good question
This is all I could think. It’s kinda fun to watch these, but it would be nice to at least have a mix. Muddys the ‘“bit” I guess. I’d just be more interested to hear some actual answers than hearing what jimmy read offer the summer..
This is a Comedy show
@@HAL-st4ll This bit isn't funny; it's sad. Why celebrate idiocy? Being stupid is so unsexy.
I think this sort of thing makes many people feel comfortable with their own stupidity, so they can say, "Look, they are all ignorant fools, too."
I'm in!!, for Jimmy and Guillermo's books club. 😂😂😂
Plato's Republic on my night stand.
The guy named his top... 8 drinks... hahaha
The last novel I finished this summer was the last book of the Witcher saga „Lady of the Lake“ by Andrzej Sapkowski.
Who..
@@psychobillynumbnuts1 The books on which the Netflix series is based for example
"The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho
I think the ALCHEMIST should be a mandatory read at every school, such a great book
Somehow, that is NOT how I pictured the guy asking the questions 😂🤣
I love how he trolled the drinks guy
I was waiting for someone to say 'Facebook! Wait, is that a book?' 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That guy was hilarious
I think I read 5 books this summer. might be 6.
Show-off 😉 I sometimes read 2 or 3 books in one week, but usually it takes me 3 months to finish a book.
@@lilybee7334 Same here. Some books take me a while to get through, some I whip through in a few days. Glad to see people still read...
I’ve always loved reading since I was little. I love a good adventure and funny stories, no highbrow literature, but also no chick lit. I’m Dutch, but most of the books I read are English. I often end up with books for 10-12 year olds. Somehow I sometimes get slack from people for reading children’s books, but mostly from people who don’t read at all.
Right now I’m reading “The girl who drank the moon”, by Kelly Barnhill. Wonderful magical story.
@@lilybee7334 Fantastic. I knew people still read books!!
I think I read 8 books so far this summer
Lmao he almost had him then he pulled his hand back so fast 🤣 😭
Wish when they do these that they did a second one where they actually use the footage of those people who said they _had_ read something.
I reread Eye of The World by Robert Jordan. I am a bit worried the TV series is not going to be that good, but here is to hoping 😅
One of the best series ever written.
"Name of the Wind" by Patrick Ruthfuss, currently on the first The Witcher book
Tribe by Sebastian Junger was a good read this Summer. I don't understand why people don't read anymore. It opens up so many ideas. Humans have a unique gift to dream of the future and reading is like rocket fuel for imagination.
Because we've advanced since Gutenberg.
Apparently, we don't have time! we have time for tiktok, eating, commenting, sleeping, everything but reading! :)
@@billvegas8146 wait what? Not reading is advanced?
@@hannadavis6867 Imagine going back in time and playing the first episode of Carl Sagan's Cosmos for Darwin.
Miss you Jimmy
I froze when I tried to recall the books I've read this year. I had to go check goodreads to see the 18 books read in 2021. It's been a slow year. I'm usually averaging 50 books a year.
how much did you read so far this year?
that's about 1 book a week. for real? how do you find the time? a fast reader?
Did that last guy ever heard about " Water'..??
I read The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho and The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
Did you read 'a thousand splendid suns' by Khalid hosseini if not you really should.
You should also read " And the mountains echoed" by Khaled Hosseini. I have read "A thousand splendid suns" and "The kite runner" too. All wonderful books.
@@dawnnaomigad7369 I read 'and the mountains echoed' and it wasn't that good in my opinion, i mean it was good but not Khalid Hosseini good.
@@arshkhan815 thanks for the suggestion! Will definitely read more of Hosseini’s books
@@arshkhan815 Well I loved it. Difference in oppinions I guess. I think I got even more emotional reading the last one than the previous two, but all of them are wonderful in my opinion.
Animal Liberation - Peter Singer
The Demon Haunted World - Carl Sagan
Rethinking Humanity - Tony Seba
(I tend to read multiple books at once)
Lol love you Jimmy
Tender is the Bite, by Spencer Quinn. Perfect light, fun summertime reading. No political books.
Sounds like fun series to read! I’ve put the first of the series on my wish list right away!
This is America in a nutshell....
No, it's not. Just because you see a has been comedian interview a few people? ...and it is likely to be all scripted. LMAO!!! You do what the TV tells you!!! LMAO!!! You are the nut : )
@ No we saw plenty of evidence is MAGA crowds too....it's real
I'd sign up for Guillermo's book club. How hard could it be to read the history of tequila?
Mine was "second chance pass" by Robyn carr
The coke bit was genius. Well done!
I made it too, but why is it so tough to read these days!?
I’m a reader, and i love books, but I’m to lazy to read the text on magazines lmao
My last book? "I alone can fix it" - by Carol Leonnig. Scared me shitless.
I’m Dutch but I read mostly English books, for ages 10-12. Don’t care for YA books or romance at all, but I might read the odd “grown-up” book if it is funny or a good mystery. Currently I’m reading a wonderful magical story called “The girl who drank the moon” by American author Kelly Barnhill.
I think you would love A Gentleman in Moscow.
@@nelbringsjord7716 sounds like a fun story!
I read every day. I even write books and one is going to be published this year.
Hemingway,Roth,Ellison,Fitzgerald,Steinbeck,Gibson,Coupland,Faulkner,King,O’Connor,Keysey,James,Ballard…and many more besides. These are all wonderful American writers and should be known,if not read. Know your culture America..much love from UK
It's nice to know that Stephen C. Isn't the only late night host encouraging literacy.
2:00 that guy was stoned or what ?? Still confused 🤪
I was like, "huh???!!"
Maybe he misheard the question
@@cheneethompson5756 yuppp
Last thing I read was the DMV book couple years ago lol
Leopards rage by Christine Feehan. Very hot lovemaking lol
Guillermo is leaving the dream!!!
I read a book today to children. Pete the cat
This year, I read so many books and so little at the some time because it is not ENOUGH
Finally saw the man behind the camera 😂
Yeah, that a$$ tho...
Captain underpants underrated
Ok, but that's kinda sad
This hurts
Hate hate hate hate, glad we have guys like Jimmy here to tell us who the hate, otherwise who would I direct all this hate at? Hate your neighbor, especially if they disagree with you, that way it keeps a nice cycle of hate flowing! Forgiveness is for the weak, I only respect people who belittle and say hurtful and harmful things to others! It is the new way of doing things and Jimmy and the president and the media have my back so it can't be wrong. You know cause my mother always taught me, if everyone was jumping off a bridged because it was the cool thing to do, then you better hold your breath and hope you don't hit any rocks on the way down!
I'm currently reading that disaster capitalism book by Naomi Klein, as well as Master and Commander, and just finished a history of England published in 1904. Next is Two Years Before the Mast and I cant wait. read a book, people
I enjoyed The Big Short and Boomerang by Michael Lewis, both books on the failures of the financial industry. I just looked up Naomi Klein and I think I'll check out her stuff as well. Premonition by Michael Lewis was a great audiobook I got through this Summer.
@@HealthyMBS1 Thanks, I'll check those out
Last book i read, wheel of time
Ayeeee I'm just about to start Winters Heart!
Great choice
@@K5to9X u excited for the show?
@@thecomicdirector8417 Yesss! I hope it's good. I saw the first trailer but I can't wait to see Loial and Thom.
I think this a subtle signal for me to re-read the series. You are the second individual who has mentioned the series.
Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey, don't usually read celebrity books but this one was top tier 👍
For real?
I read
12 books. 3 months to finished all of it
Night by Elie Wiesel
Makes me proud to be an American. Not.
I'm CONSTANTLY reading books. Last book I read was "Red Queen" by Victoria Aveyard.
this is sooo sad..
💗💗💗
Do audiobooks count?
A book by RAEL and the extraterrestrials message to earth
Currently, Crime and Punishment.
Right before that A Gentleman in Moscow, for the 4th time.
Also this summer since June, 2021: Anna Karenina; War and Peace; One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich; Rules of Civility; Here Right Matters; Frankly, We Did Win This Election; I Alone Can Fix It; The Domenico Fragment.
Granted I listen on Audible.
If you read only one book, read A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles. It's the BEST book I have ever read. Seriously! Better yet, listen to it. The performance is superb!
Cheers!
That's not reading, you hack!
Yes to Human Cloning
do web pages count?
Well done America
The Queen of Nothing - Holly Black 🔥
I've read a ton of articles, and political/science stuff, but books? I think the last thing I read was Origins of Biblical Monotheism, which must have been nearly a decade ago. I can't concentrate on books anymore.
@Kilo Mintoni Yeah. I used to really like reading. Now, I can't go more than a few chapters in.
Stupidity rules
Last thing I read was one piece manga lol.
Mine is Shanghai Girls
I have like 170 books which I've read multiple times, Iain M. Banks has always had a special place in my library, may he rest in peace.
good for you imo that's a waste of time
THE President's Daughter
@MarkDice should claim copyright on this.
US citizens don't read😅😅😅
Book of Enoch!
Cokey cola
These people are the living examples of why I deserve to be in America more than some Americans because İf your not improving yourself mentally every day then you can go another place and leave your place for someone whos gonna take advantage of America better..
The book I read was Prison escape, Palestinian edition. It was great , I loved it and enjoyed it with some Ben and Jerry’s ice cream
The interviewer is sus
How am I here so early!?
I know, it's just a comedy show 😁👍... but funny how people seem to think reading books makes you smarter or more creative. Compared to what?
Asa kid, it improves your reading and it's something 'safe' parents can leave you with (unlike the internet 😱) but none of the people interviewed are the kids who would be just sitting at home playing video games instead of reading. Today people read constantly online, articles, news, college text books and take all sorts of online courses for free or very cheap, and get far more information about the world. We get info and entertainment all the time, at a greater rate than ever. I used to read all the time as a kid, it was all fiction, because there was no alternative, but as an adult, I have no interest in sitting for hours reading a story that may or may not turn out to be any good! 😎
You might consider audiobooks.
@@nelbringsjord7716 yep, but it proves my point! 🙂
@@JohnDoe-tx8lq What proves your point?
I know this was a small pool of people, but then again nearly every person I know in real life hasn't read a book in years, so. This disgusts me actually.
