I was looking for how dissasembly the mic shure pg27 and found your video and it's amazing. I dont have that mic but it was really helpful because the shure pg27 just open the same way. And you are the only who shows how to open with this kind of key. Thanks

Hi. Thanks for the disassembly vid. Did you ever try swapping out the tube for another (better quality) ECC83/12ax7, such as a Mullard or RCA Black Plate, and, if so, thoughts? I bought a P820 today. ;)

No i didn't swap the tube yet. The one in there works great, and not sure how long it lasts, but if i ever have to replace it, i would probably look for the best there is ;-)

@@mygiguser I swapped mine for an Electro Harmonix 12ay7, with gold pins... much better mic. Not so hyped in the top end with the gain reduction. Would have gone with an GE 12ay7 black plate if I'd had the money!

What's the tool you used to get the bottom off?

Thanks mygiguser! Your video helped a lot. Trey - I made the tool out of an wire clothes hanger.

Should have worn gloves handling that tube, your skin oils not good for tube health ...
