I m from argentina. Inmidiate results is one thing. We will see if pochetino can get some in the short time. But the most important factor to the usa soccer is this guy belong to one of the greatest academies in the world: Newells Olds Boys de Rosario. If you think in the future talents, this coach is awsome.

The discussion raised a good point that many of the team riding the bench for their club teams see the national team as their chance to start and play. But it's really the opposite. The national teams of pretty much every nation are meant to be an assembly of club all stars (not necessarily superstars - there are few of those). The US national team has some individual talent, though not developed to an all-star level, but just being on the national team somehow seems to have conferred an "I've made it" status when that just isn't true for any of the players with one or two exceptions. Hopefully, Poch will instill a real work ethic. If he does that and if he develops tactics that suit his players' abilities, he'll succeed in making the team better. If there's anything the recent embarrassing losses have shown it's that the winners - Colombia, Uruguay, Canada - all just simply worked harder and faster and with more energy and focus.

The psychological factor of U.S. soccer Federation sending a clear message that Greg can do no wrong massively destroyed the development of "the golden generation".
Poch might be the right move but the players are only human. I hope it's not too late to transform this generation from a competitive corporation paradigm to a competitive sports-MEN paradigm.

These people know very little about this subject, perhaps I need to lower my expectations of the analysis. I have to just query, why are they comparing Pochettino working in club football day to day with players with sporadic international football. Also, the pool of players is average, let's be honest here. Pulisic and Robinson are the only effective players, or am I being too negative?

@@josuehernandez300these guys are forgetting what a coaching change could do especially when you go from a mediocre coach to a mid to high end coach respected in Europe. Thats a sign we’ve had Gregg for far too long when you have fans thinking it cant get better. Look at Morocco. We beat them
3-0 the summer before the WC. They fire theyre coach and they make a run in the WC. Berhelter got fired from a swedish 2nd league.. please theirs levels to coaching and having respect from the players.

Totally agree! I was watching France played other day with Team B/Team C. My god they have so many players can take you on one on one when they get the ball on the wings. Solid defenders and deep pool of quality keepers as well. Ideally, this is what we want to achieve, but our current player pool is nowhere near that.

No amount of top-level coaches can save USMNT. I read another comment that put it perfectly - "It's not the coach, it's the culture". Guaranteed Pochettino mentions this at the end of his tenure, which will inevitably end with the team performing poorly in the games that matter.

Think these fools are believing the hype as well. US Soccer is a mess. They want their cake and eat it too. Poch isn’t a Mourinho, Pep, Klopp, Even Xavi. So I doubt he’s got free rein to come in and do what he wants. It’s going to be like Jerry jones and the Cowboys. He’s going to get frustrated. If he’s got free rein to do what he needs to do without blowback then yea but let’s face it. US Soccer is all about saving face always. They’re not gunna let him kick off big names that sell ugly Nike kits.
