Talk talk talk! Please! My family & I have learned so much from watching you over the years! We even took a "civil war hunt" vacation thanks to you. Never stop sharing your gift of knowledge with us!
I've only seen two people metal detecting while I'm running trains but when I do I blow the horn non stop hoping to make it to the background of a chig video.
I 😍 it when you have a buddy along with u on your treasure hunts Makes it more exciting to see you guys getting excited at each others finds and how you encourage them even on their minutest of minute finds.
Those kids were lovely little things, I nearly melted when the little boy whispered mischievously "can I have the knife?" It was so cute and hilarious.
Great kids. They remind me of my two eldest; whenever I was on leave we'd rummage through the rubbish dump of a Roman fort near where we lived when the weather made a bit of cliff crumble away. There were two Roman towns we'd go to and go through the molehills for pieces of pottery and anything else of interest. Great fun and great days.
"Everything is all junk" you gota laugh Mr Chigg...I don't think Ben Cartwright would have called it a Bonanza but it was pretty good.🙋👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
If people are saying you talk too much they can mute the video. I enjoy your videos and you character. My daughter and I watch and she loves you. We live pretty close to where you are. My dad and I used to kayak Antietam before he passed keep making good videos. Hopefully you find another cave.
The minie balls were a historically significant bullet design. Blackpowder guns with rifled barrels got dirty VERY fast, to the point they couldn't jam the bullets down the bore. Huge problem having to stop and clean your rifle in the middle of a battle! The muzzle loader round ball shaped bullets had to be a tight fit so they would engage the rifling cuts in the barrel.... The minie ball has a hollow base so when fired, it expands to engage the rifling and get the proper spin to stabilize in the air. That allowed the bullets to be a smaller diameter, so they would be more easy to stuff down the bore of a dirty rifle.
Beau, I Love Rob's kidlins. They are cuter than a bugs ear and I find myself going back to listen to their intro on this vid. Beau .... "What's the word?" Little Gal .... "Everything is All junk!" Beau .... "No, No!" Me .... Totally cracking up My husband .... Choking through his laughter, along with his toast and coffee Little Guy .... In (Beau style) he opens his eyes wide and waves his hands emphatically as he almost convincingly says "Have some Good Stuff!" Truly Priceless!
I can't remember exactly, but I think the pocket knife would be a Camillus or Schrade. Looks like a shadow pattern stockman or serpentine jack ( shadow pattern means no bolsters ) That broken " fixed blade " with the camo handle is a modern crappy flea market knife, available today for $10. Frost cutlery is the most common brand for them ( sold on the cutlery corner knife show ).
I've been a reenactor for over a decade. That lid looks like the lid to a soldiers mucket. It was essentially a large cup with a lid and wire handle to cook coffee or food in
Love your channel! Be who you are cuz you are wonderful!!!!! Ps....I am 62 yrs old and am looking at this as a hobby. Just have to find the right detector for me!
The knife with the yellow handles is probably a "Case". If so and their is anything left it's a very good knife. The chains you've been finding with the large ring on one end and the swivel in the middle is called a trace chain that went on work horse harness. Hope this helps.
Your "yapping" is constantly teaching me something new!! If you could tell us what caliber and what kind of bullets you dig, it would be great 👍. This Mema loves your videos!
That big pile of bullets would have been a great time to have an archeology/brick layers trowel. Seriously once you're used to digging with a flat bladed trowel, they're so much better for everything dig-related. I even use mine iver a normal gardener's trowel most of the time. You can be so much more precise, while at the same time removing so much more material.
Hey this was an awesome clip to end the year- with the kids!!!! Made me smile. My boy turns 15 on Jan 1. Your channel is the best on RUclips. Happy New Year Chigg
Had to show this so you could talk. 😂. Nice knife. My hubby has one that color he’s had that knife since 1973 Clem says have to dig them all. Amazing a Dang shotgun shell end.
Great video Chigg. I've always wondered, were you a history teacher in a previous lifetime? You're the reason I got into detecting. I bring a well made plastic trowel with me just for digging that last little bit. It's light enough and doesn't scratch anything. Thanks again for the best and only detecting/spelunking channel out there. Stay safe. Hold your Breath. Happy New Year's from your friend in Syracuse NY
How can 10 people give this video a thumbs down. Haters. I guess people saw the word Bonanza and thought it was an episode of the TV show Bonanza. I give it a two thumbs up. Take care and HH and have a Happy and safe New Year. Jim aka Tennessee Gem.
Loved it!! "Everything is all junk". Not really I sure could use the damper cap, my parlor stove is missing them and I have steel covers on them. Not really adjustable. And I'm always looking for them when I hunt old homesteads. The area around the barrel band and ramrod is worth a second look. Quite a shell collection today! But that's one great bullet spill! Happy New year to you and the army!
All those broken bits of stove reminds me of this true story that happened to my grt. grt. grandpa's brother, James Samuel O'Donnell, Jr. The story has come down through the family, but it also made the papers at the time. It reads as follows: The Dalles Times-Mountaineer, The Dalles, Oregon December 17, 1892, Image 1 Walla Walla, Washington Dec. 10 James O'Donnell, residing on Upper Dry creek, 10 miles from the city, had an unpleasant experience with giant powder. He was using the powder to dig a well. Thursday morning be found the powder was frozen up. Placing a stick on the stove to thaw, he sat down by the stove to read, when suddenly there was a terrific explosion, which knocked him off the chair onto the floor. When he recovered from his dazed condition he found the stove scattered all over a 10 acre field, no piece being larger than his hand, and the cabin almost as badly demolished. O'Donnell escaped injury. Now our family thought he had the luck of the Irish to escape without injury. Maybe the fellows stove you found had a similar experience?! ha ha ha
Happy New Years Beau, gotta question for you. I am new to this hobby so I was wondering, Where do you get your information about farms or settlements that no longer exist? What are some good sources to utilize when starting to metal detect? Thanks, and again Happy New Year to you and your Family.
Susan Smith hey there. See I made it to one of his videos before the year was over! Yeah I ended up finding about 8 bullets that day and lots of shotgun head stamps
Happy New year Beau. Good to be back at my computer again! I'm going to do a aguachigger marathon soon to get caught-up, and I look forward to it! ~M~ 33463
People confuse me, do they just wanna look at the dirt in silence and have a guess at nothing if they don't know what was pulled up? I love hearing ya talk, Chigg. You've got a good, friendly tone and I learn a lot from your explanations on your finds. The way you explain it feels welcoming and in no way patronising for those new or learning. Yours is one of the best channels for this stuff, for treasure hunting/digging and also learning about artifacts. I like to sit down with my father and we binge watch a lot of your videos ans catch up on your finds. You keep doing what you do, don't change a thing you if you don't want to. You do just fine. :) Also, "Everything is old junk!" Bahahahah! Oh dear! LOL

To us in the uk.... USA train hooters sound fabulous... The very sound of America.. :)
Aren't hooters the same in USA and Uk ?

Sometimes it's just fun to kick back and watch the kids have fun!
