  • In this episode 22 we have a major failure on the 1928 Oakland Roadster Pickup Hotrod build. Whilst using one of our subscribers' suggestions by making a wooden cover for the inside of the spare wheel and also housing the tools and jack inside the wheel we had a major failure. First, we made a rustic wooden cover using antique wood reclaimed from one of the original wooden trays from one of the builds, we then engraved our logo in the front side of the wooden cover to make it look that much better. We attempted to take this idea from our subscriber one step further by using expanding foam inside the wheel to wrap around the tools to give them a firm housing inside the wheel cavity, well this did not go to plan with after 24hours of curing time the foam had not only not set it had shrunk, attempt number 1 a failure. This led to attempt number 2 and using foam from an old seat cushion which was able to hold the tools in place but was not ascetically pleasing, failed attempt 2. We then tried attempt number 3 and made some stainless brackets which were mounted on the back of the wooden lid this attempt was a success with the function working as it should and it was also ascetically pleasing to the eye, not that anyone would even know that it has been done except you and me. This is another cool hidden feature that will only be seen by the really inquisitive eye but one that will take this build to another level of awesomeness.
