    It's not a Local thing anymore. People do it all-over the world now.
    I used to throw it all the time, but lately it makes me cringe a bit. -Can't explain it.

    I use to think the Shaka ment Rubish lol because it was on all the trash cans lol

    fwiw I have images c1910 of Kahanamoku flashing a 'shaka'.. earliest know Hawaiian Shaka imo
    many mis-say its from a c1930 sugartrain guard Hamana Kalili (who lost fingers in 1917) and the kids would sign ea. other he's coming with the 'shaka', they may have, but thats far from the beginning... or earliest seen images.. he is a bit older than Duke but the missing finger stuff was well after the first know shakas.. aroha
