Dodgers and Japan have a long history going back to the 50s, Dodger Stadium is inspired by Korakuen Stadium (closed in 1987) in Japan.

I was in Japan last August 4-12. Although I did see ‘’some’ Ohtani billboards, I rarely saw Ohtani jerseys and I was one of about four people that I could see wearing our LA Dodger caps. The time I was there was during baseball season, so I was a bit surprised. I will return around the same time next year and I will be wearing my Dodger cap again. I’m pretty sure I’ll see a lot more LA gear around Japan.

I also wanted the Dodgers to win because for so many years, Ohtani's talent was wasted on the Angels. I was in Japan in 2011 when the Japanese women's soccer team faced the USA for the World Cup. It was the Meghan Rapinoe/Hope Solo "We're the BEST!" attitude team. The game was on in every bar, store, and restaurant. I found myself cheering for the slower, undersized, but harder working Japanese team and was not disappointed.

Thanks for the video. But just one simple strangeness of the video. The title is 'Japan roars with pride', but why (more than) half people interviewed are not-Japanese (Korean people and so on, judged by their family names, including the tourists from New York) interviewed? For example, Is it adequate to give us the 'France roars' if you interview Spaniards visiting Paris, so when K. Mbappe has come up big?

This was Tokyo. A lot more people speak English in Tokyo than in rural Japan hundreds of miles away where Ohtani grew up. If they’re in Tokyo, chances are they work corporate jobs which needs a University education which Ohtani didn’t have. And the girl who spoke with a standard American accent, her name was Chanel. That’s not a Japanese name. She’s probably half. And all the rest (if you read the captions) were Asian Americans visiting from LA. The last guy’s last name was Kim, probably Korean American. The first one too, had a Korean last name. The one Japanese who spoke English was the store attendant in the memorabilia store, he didn’t even answer the questions accurately. So what’s your point?

Oh, if only you harnessed a shred of intelligence, you’d surely know in Game 1 of the World Series, Ohtani tied it in the 8th with his clutch double, paving the way for Freddie's walk-off. But of course, let’s overlock his obvious injury in game 2, leaving him one-handed and instead, conveniently sum up his WS as "did nothing", as if the obstacles he faced weren't glaringly obvious and didn’t carry the Dodgers to the WS.
I don’t know why people keep overlocking his shoulder injury that thoroughly disrupted his swing. You do realize that you can’t hit well with just one shoulder, right? Ohtani even joked about how he was taking pain killers this whole series in one interview.

More post season experience? Vs Mets he was 8 of 22. That is a .363 BA. He also had 6 RBI, 8 BB and 2 HR. That's pretty good post season numbers to me. Plus he played the Yankees hurt; and when one guy is hurt others pick up the slack. That is how team sports work.
