Scattered showers: Dude! you are in the tropics! Always have an umbrella handy. OJO: June is the start of the hurricane season, just so you are aware.
Cash: Like some have already stated: after hurricane Maria, is good to have cash to pay for goods because you may have trouble with banks from the US, OR you can open a bank account locally with ATH MOBILE so you can pay with your phone. I did that and my life have been easier whenever I go back home. *grins* I usually just transfer the money from bank to bank before traveling.
Cats: Like some already stated, cats were brought to Old San Juan for the rats, unfortunately, times have changed, there are no more rats like in the past, and my understanding is there are organizations trying to relocate the cats or lower the numbers by spaying and neutering.

The cats were originally brought in to get rid of the rats in San Juan. Now there are no rats but there's an over population of cats. The cats aren't like that all over the island just San Juan. They have an adoption organization called save a gato where they send cats anywhere to the US.

You there in the rainy season. Jan-mar is dry season and the reason they prefer cash is because of the blackout due to inclement weather or storms. During Maria people would line up for 6 hours just to get $100 limit out of the atm every day . People don’t like feeling hopeless so cash is king. And the mobile pay is ATH MOBILE similar to Apple Pay. They also take Apple Pay.

1st, weather: Tropical weather is like that. Florida has the same weather; not sure if you have ever visited Florida, if not, get prepared to enjoy scattered thunderstorms 🙄.
2nd, having cash: I don’t think is a bad thing, specially, if you live in an island with hurricanes/storm on a year basis.
And third, Cats: they are very cute, they are not aggresive and they are healthy (you’ll see food stations for them throughout the city), and they are very relaxed. Sooooo, enjoy your time in PR, eat a lot (food is really good), have an umbrella with you, some cash and don’t pay attention to our beautiful cats, even though they like to be petted. 😂😂😂

The Cats eat the rats, and they also hunt the doves, iguanas, and snakes. That's a public service. The chickens eat the cockroaches, and (according to legend) the sewer alligators.
Puerto Ricans are born waterproof. But seriously, the wet season happens at the transition between the summer season (Apr/May, Aug/Sept,). You'd love it in the center of the island at that time. The water drops are huge, and it rains hard enough to turn the streets into rivers. You're literally soaked in seconds.
On the other hand, you can't really experience the "Rain Forest" if it isn't raining, can you?

I spent maaaaany nights with my homies drinking beer, toking up, and skating in front of that 7-11 as a teenager. That was the meeting spot back in them dazzze. That's how you know ya boy's from the old school, ya hear! That whole area was so much fun back then, before Condado got all South Beach'd, playa! Haha
