You basically HAVE to pair the silicone tube with a charcoal filter delete + hi-flow washable drop-in filter (K&N/Spectre/doesn't matter) - just a better flowing one). THEN you can really hear the intake 🙌
It is great to see another video from you, Jake. I am happy you have a video about any of your fleet. How is the Ranger doing? Have not seen that one since the carpet. We really need to find a good GM with a 3800 to add to your fleet or I think a Fiero would be a wonderful addition. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to your next video. It sounds good to me.
A friend of mine in Nova Scotia, Canada has the Ultimate Fiero. Not just any 3800. Oh, no. The Supercharged 3800 from a Park Avenue Ultra. Even he admits it is a bit of a butt clencher to drive, but definitely goes like Billy Be Damned
A few seconds in to the explanation I was thinking "So are you going to give us a sample of what it sounds like before? ...Jake? Are Y-- No? Oh, okay then."
I have one, it made it louder as well but did eliminate some exhaust pop I had, not sure what the corelation is there but is what it is. I prefer the rubber hose over the plastic resonator tube.
I did a how to on e90post : dremel cut the silencer on the OEM tube (cap it with jbweld) + dremel cut the OEM filter box to get a open air hot air intake + remove the charcoal. 0$. Sounds great. HP? dont know, but I run my e91 on winter only (winter beater) so -20°C + Bernouilli effect, I should be good for fresh cold air anyway.
I hope you do the stage 3 intake as I myself want to do this, I know there are other videos online showing me how to, but Id rather have a Jake video on it, as he is, always 100 percent.
I would highly recommend a CDA - CARBON DYNAMIC AIRBOX intake sounds and a bit more power you would love the kit. I have fitted a couple and those who wanted them just got the universal kit and were very very happy.
Good job, Jake. The sound is not so important to me. It is how well the air flows, and the smooth pipe should reduce the unwanted turbulence. The big question will be how it works as the engine moves while the air box doesn't. You may need to fit a rubber piece in there to allow the flex. That air filter, with a charcoal filter, looks strange indeed. Looks like restriction to me.
Jake , I have an n52 b30 and replaced the air filter with k&n and it seemed to help all around. I did not do the charcoal filter delete although I wanted too because car has 232k original charcoal. K&n for the win here
Opening up a potentially restrictive and muffled intake is always good 😉 That secondary air filter needs deleted and put a performance air filter in like a KN.
I will never spend my hard earned money on these " parts" again, unless it's a total track car. Especially exhaust upgrades. Lots of money for very little horsepower. People forget that these new cars are highly engineered by people that do this for a living. The only reason why they would add something to reduce horsepower is if it's government mandated like like catalytic converters.... Even those flow pretty good now.
Every car is a compromise imparted by the beancounters, the government, or the sensibilities of non-enthusiasts. I just want a little more intake noise than those parties deemed reasonable.
No the reason people install these things is the same reason I installed an intake exhaust and bov on my daily driver focus ST it makes funny noises that are entertaining and I don't care if I lost two horsepower or gained two That's kind of the point honestly just keeping your car stock is not a bad thing that's less things to break
like the hair cut, it is always better shorter when we are loosing hair like I did > I believe keeping the facial hair for you with way is good with or without. as for the car I like the little bit of growl great going
always with the fresh Levis. I'm a 511 skinny guy, hbu? (oh i zoomed in, so are you!!!) for anyone wondering what to buy jake for xmas, he wears a 30x30 levis 511.
@@GrimesGarage For one thing, that corrugated length was causing a good amount of harmonic restriction. Freeing up the breathing is always a good way to increase both power and fuel economy. Every stock 6 cylinder BMW sounds like there is some major restriction in the exhaust, too. You never hear the individual pulses. On a cold, damp morning you don't see the pulses in the steam either. If I ever had a BMW, I would be hunting for that restriction. Then again, I would likely wreck the engine. I'm used to the old Red Block, but even more so with the ancient Windsor V8. Those I know how to find power AND fuel economy. In fact a 351 equipped Grand Marquis was both the fastest and the least expensive to run car I've ever had.
I love your videos, but one little request: Could you please cut out the sounds you make like in 04:49? It's a bit unpleasant, I cringe everytime I hear it....
Not more power, but possible increase - a little - in acceleration due to better flow into the intake. just don't think the "carbon fiber" "tube" is better than the silicone one. Now Teflon, that's another story. lol Teflon is the automobiles greatest aftermarket product/invention! Self - lubrication (that's what she said).
Throttle response almost as fast as me clicking like on a new Jake video.
That engine bay is CLEAN!!!

Can you explain to me waht do you mean by the charcoal filter delete ?
@@tj2change there's two filters inside of the e90 airbox. Main filter, and charcoal filter.
Okey i was thinking did i miss something when opening up my e92 airbox but maybe its only e90 who has those
@@tj2change no, the e92 has it as well
@@emanakbarpour4513 yeah maybe but im europe so i dont have this filter

A manual 3800 fiero is a personal dream car

Personally, that $50 would be better spent on fuel or an oil change.
why arent u spending on fuel and oil changes already ?
Thanks man, appreciate your No BS simple but effective video - keep up the good work and safe driving! 👊
A few seconds in to the explanation I was thinking "So are you going to give us a sample of what it sounds like before? ...Jake? Are Y-- No? Oh, okay then."
I've got so used to seeing Jake in a hat its weird seeing you without one .Its like your a different person
Sounded a bit better. I think. Lol that is one clean engine bay.
Jake, I just noticed how different you look from a month ago. Nice new glasses and haircut.
@6:18 What's the clicking sound? I've never heard that on my bimmer.
Turn signals Lmaoo

DUDE! This is the 2nd video that "i did not recognize you". The 1st video, it took me a whole day to realize you shaved. I'm a picture guy
Wait...hold up...a BMW with turn signals? WTF?!?!

This really makes me want to go put my intake back on... induction noises ftw, especially in this boost weather!

I did this on my car and literally modified a silicone drain pipe, it was like $8. Way better bang for your buck than a $50 tube.

I made my Camaro real loud once. Just stepped on gas peddle hard one night blew a hole in exhaust people all over town heard me.
I did that with a 79 Thunderbird with the 302. How a car with a measly 132 horsepower could make that much noise I will never know.
why does it even have a charcoal filter? that's weird. for a cabin filter it'd make sense, but engine doesn't care what the air smells like.
Many high-performance cars suffer from soft and take tubes collapsing under acceleration therefore losing power.
The new shave and haircut kind of make you look like Radar O'Reilly.
Can this apply to most other vehicles? I wanna upgrade my stock air intake without buying a cold air intake for my 2012 Honda Civic.
Do you know what the sizes are of both ends of the silicon hose? I'm looking to do this to a M54B30 engine. THanks!
when you replace the air filter use k&n i did in my Acura TL Type S yes factory airbox and it changed the sound
Did you reuse the stock hose claps?
Love the tribal flame comb forward 6head
Is that right?....👀... Turn right on to Harry eastbound from hillside...🏃
Based on 2 "new look Jake" videos, I'm convinced the real Jake was replaced with a self aware AI. #fact
No bullshit RUclipsr. Damn that’s hard to come by these days
As you stated, it worth it as a reliability upgrade.

Nice haircut Jake ! What happened, did you lose a bet ? Lol
Nice 👍
Jake shaved? what's the occasion?
what intake do ya recommend for an n52
Probably $50.00 that could have been spent better elsewhere Jake. You did say the BMW air inlet is already great.
But it makes the wooshy noises better now!

Cut the charcoal filter out & you’ll get twice better sound.
Will this work on my Honda cvic
Get a k&n filter, might help the sound
Will that fit my e60 n52?
You need a performance panel filter pipercross is best
Heello brother, maybe a link to that tube? please
Google is your friend. Mishimoto intake boot e90
Are you cold revving that engine? 😑
Gained 25 horswpower lol try cutting a square on the air box it will sound louder 😂

As you said yourself, absolutely zero powergain.
Who is this guy and why is he posting on 100PercentJake''s channel?
yo should remove the charcoal filter, that shit is very restrictive
Air intake Koozie ?
it's fine
Ummmmm where’s the link?
Jake is 💯 %
Yo!
Please stop the diy haircut s
That's not a haircut that's just his hairline
trim your hair a bit more and replace the bmw logo with an apple and tell everyone you're Steve Jobs. Dont forget the black shirt and blue jeans. j/p
You need a cone. Makes the sound difference
