Without you guys, there is no Sarde (after dinner). Thank you.
It’s Ham@$ not Khamas. In this #Sardeafterdinner, content creator Fadi BouKaram explains phonological deafness and loanwords, and digs deeper into the relationship we all have with Arabic language, expressions, and onomatopoeia. Join us as we discuss:
-Debunking Isr@eli propaganda using linguistics
-Semitic language vs Semitic people
-Where do the words “Fawwal”, “Sayyavit”, “Cancallet” & “Daprasit” come from?
-The journey of the words P@le$t!ne, Jerusalem and Lebanon
-The real meaning behind the region’s most used idioms & expressions
-Fadi’s trip to the 47 Lebanons in USA

Please do more educational episodes with this man/people/scholars like him
Every lebanese should be proud of a guy like Fady ! ❤️
the story about him and the 26 people in lebanon south dakota is so cute and heartwarming
I love Fadi and also a big fan of his content on Instagram.
Thank you for bringing him to Sarde.
It was a great one 👌🏻👏🏻
Fadi doesn't disappoint. Thank you
Wonderful, thank both Fadi and Sarde team.🇹🇳🇵🇸
I took some time off from learning Arabic but this has inspired me to get back into it. Really cool content. I feel like you can ask Fadi any question and he could talk for an hour straight😂
One of my favorite sarde's thank you fadi, medea and mouin, for such a warm episode, all the love for all lebanese around the globe from Jordan ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I didn't want this to end. Incredible episode
Thanks for the very insightful episode, amazing from Sarde as always. Just a vital point to make: we are not Arab Israelis, we are Palestinians. Please don’t put us into that category, paper and ink in a passport does not define our identity, our history does.
Of course, it was a slight mistake from Fadi. We love our Palestinian brothers and sisters
😎👏👏👏👏👏👏
Loving this session so much, among the best so far! Thanks Fadi for sharing your wonderful world/mind/heart with us. I will sleep much better tonight knowing why it is shik shak shok :o)
KHOMMOS!!! Ya Khimir...! That was the most linguistically abominal thing I've ever heard! But Fadi is real gem - his love of language and the way he translates the genesis and journey of language, with humour and humainty is what appeals to lay persons me. Fantastic Sarde as always x
kteeeeer 7iluw hal episode! it's true the hierarchy of vowel sounds, in Arabic too. It's how I teach students to know which kursi to write the hamza on: the strongest vowel family is ي + ِ , then ا + َ , then و + ُ
So true, Bibi is from Poland, most of Israeli politicians are ukrainian, and other EU countries. interesting conversation about language and it's origins! The way we speak holds a lot of history...
I am a big fan of Fadi's work. Thank you sardeafterdinner
so good to see an interview with this man. Big thumbs up
Ya latif this could quite literally redefine Sarde... 😌
I really enjoyed this episode and didn't want it to end! thank you
Fady: remember farazdak?
Media & Mouin: 😶
Good guest and glad that you are mixing it up, good job for both of you.
I'm a very big fan of your show, you always bring interesting people
and also a big fan of fadi's content on Instagram.
Thank you for bringing him to Sarde.
although, i must correct you, 13:55 fadi mentions the Arabs of the 1948, and how they don't spell the 'gh غ' in ghazzi instead they spell it ع a'azza (3azza) - that is incorrect.
firstly, we see this phrase (arabs of the 48) as an attempt to separate mentally and ideologically the Palestinians remaining in the land from the rest of the occupied territory so we prefer to be called 'falasteneyet al dakhel' as in al dakhel al mo7tal, the Palestinians of the occupied land. secondly, we do spell the letter 'gh' we say ghazzi not a'zza (as the jews spell it), and we hate to be called Israelis :)
The Cedar and the 47 Lebanons was such an emotional and beautiful story, for some reason I got so emotional hearing it and I was so happy for Fadi cause he deserves the celebration he got, Keep up the good work hope I meet someone like you all one day ❤️❤️

Beautiful sarde! Wonderful crossover with Fadi
Enjoyed this very much. Thank you 🙏
Do you know that the geographical center of the USA is Lebanon, Kansas?
I loved this episode
In Malay language, I would say the equivalent for 'سردة' would be 'lepak' (to relax spend time doing nothing in particular with friends and family), definitely a word that Westerners wouldnt have as discussed in the episode.
"Lepak" is "Nongkrong" in Indonesian, or "Cangkruk" in Eastern Javanese
Part 2 and 3 please ... great episode 👌
haha when alexa started talking i thought it was from my room! i got so confused.. thanks again for a great episode.
I love this guy, I was among his first followers 🥰
Amazing episode !
❤️💙👏very informative SARDE
Very nice conversation, I really enjoyed it❤ being very keen to languages and etymology, I’ve been already following cedrusk for a while, now I’m glad to know you two thanks to him 😊
By the way I am from Turkey and until now, I thought that using a word twice by changing its first letter with “m” to give it a refusal meaning existed only in Turkish! Like “No cinema minema today” 😂
I like how different cultures can share a common way of speaking. Do you have any idea why do we do that? Where does it come from?
And are there any other language that use the same method? Persian maybe?
How are things?!thakns- breathtaking . peace out!Sarde!😎
U guys are the best!! Keep going 🙏😊
I wish you have another episode talk about using the phrases na3iman, sa7 el noum,sa7aten, deyme, mabrouk l fostan, I don't think it exists in other nations but Arab, and it is nice, make you feel acknowledge ❤😊
great episode
Damn how much i love fady

Awesome Sardé as usual 😊
What a Sarde with CedrusK! Love your content on instagram ❤
Love you guys ❤️❤️
Very enjoyable
Waw, very very nice episode, educational on another level. Now we are curious to know what's the meaning of the Greek word Palestina (if that's correct).
Fadi, can you do a project on Damascus towns and cities in the US? There are not so many. I don’t know what you can plant, though 😂
15:25 “what’s happening with you” hahaha i love this woman
34:05 👏🏽
dolap molap yok
deniz minz geden yok
Greatttt sarde!!!! Alexa is hilarious 😂 😂
IKI Denia ... it's from Italian "Fichi d'India" ... which means Tin el Hend
I believe sarde can actually mean “7adis tawil wa momte3” from “sarada” and arabs had the “hakawati” so whoever is listening enjoyed so kenet “Sarde”
❤
❤❤❤❤❤
