I met Rabih on oldschool Lebanese metal forums some 20 years ago, he was always kind, intellectual and open. A good representation of a free Lebanese man. I’m glad to see he’s doing well and that he sustained his journey.
I sneaked twice into this guy's classes and I still remember every single bit of his lessons, Rabih is the very definition of "badass" and is one of my heroes

I’m enjoying so much this Sarde. Thank you guys for keeping us connected to the homeland and giving us a window into the psyche of the population who is suffering from collective depression. Dr. Salloum provides life lessons that benefit us all. The awakening of the people gives me hope that we will make a positive change.
I agree with Rabih about friends being the best thing in life. Lyom w mbere7 w abel daharet ana w ref2ate (usually we go once a week) and it was the most liberating weekend I've ever had in my life.
The worst thing about this episode is that it ends. I was a student of Rabih Salloum and he was and still is as insightful as he is funny, cool, and decent. This brought back so many lovely memories of Lebanon and all the laughter and fun times of Rabih's lessons. Much love to Rabih, the Sarde and beautiful Lebanon ❤️
Rabih interviewed me for a place in a United World College three years ago. My life has changed tremendously since then and I recall that interview fondly.

Great podcast guys, I like the back and forth because it keeps it natural. It's also easier to listen to or else it will simply be a guest lecturer. The discussion is the fun part.
I'm not sure if you guys have opened the possibility of viewer requests, but i would like to punch in a couple of ideas: 1- is it possible to interview a sociologist that is young, probably in the 30s to 50s range of age, that might shed a light on the social problems in a scientific way and if what can be the solutions 2- is it possible to get a psychologist that can analyze the set of mind of people, the nation wide stockholm syndrome, the psychology behind following a person blindly I actually loved this interview and the ideas discussed. I think we need such intellectual interviews that actually discuss the little details of our practical life that matters. I watch you from France every week, i had to leave the country to try and find a future and i feel i'm looking for hope for the future by enlightening the minds of the people to be able to build a new country on solid grounds
firstly. LOVE your podcast. thank you.. GREAT Episode, and a great Trio... would really REALLY love to see Dr Ziad Njeim on your show in the near future.. salamat from the USA.
At 36:30 (As a background) you make a reference to what is called " Tall Poppy Syndrome". And as it is known, the tall poppy gets the chop first (metaphor to put someone back or down in their place, and to discourage vanity and arrogance in a person) and it's also a way to discourage elitism in a society, and instead encourage group thinking, as opposed to individualism, which is not ideal for the survival of a community. This concept started in the Nordic countries (I think it might have been in Norway) in the 1800s and came directly from Lutheranism thinking. The irony - and the paradox you might say - is that this way of thinking (very common in wealthy Anglo-Saxon and Nordic countries for instance) can yield very stable democracies as it breeds equality first and before individuality (think Lebanon and the USA- very unequal countries). The downside of that, regrettably, is that it breeds mediocrity (as individuals strive to stay within the lowest common denominator in a group to fit in) and counter-culturalism, and frowns on people who excel individually and not as a group.
I wish you focused more on philosophy, which is Rabih's specialty. He gave good and enlightening statements but very rarely connected to philosophy and its impact in our lives.

Great show guys, with very interesting guests and these are the kind of ppl id like to meet. Id like to make one comment thought which is when your guests are in their zone and taking us from one idea to another please don't interrupt them as often. Again thanks for this space.
1:01:35 Kids think that way because they're taught to think that way, that isn't an inherent thing we grow up with, kids are a clean slate for the most part. Great mind you got there Rabih, looks you've spent some alone time.
Goddamnit Mouin you dropped the A too early 1:24:00 EDIT: I take that back. Your guest's response was a 20 minute sarde in its own right EDIT 2: Medea then dropped the A AGAIN at 1:37:00 💀
It's okay to interrupt a little with no malice. It's an informal chat after a dinner. Although I'm told no dinner is usually served.. let's say the hypothetical dinner. It makes the discussion lively, and ohhhh, it's so Lebanese!
I like the informal format they created and I suppose it is a Lebanese thing! I’d just prefer to hear the speakers finish their ideas in their own words rather than have Mouin trying to anticipate them. Not to mention that he sometimes completely misses the point, like 43:05, but granted that’s funny :D

Guys this is my favorite channel as an expat. Please a small note, let the guest talk, aka yesrod. thank you
He is talking for probably 75% of the episode
@@influncercage5286 k
@@influncercage5286 no he's not, I calculated the exact % and he's talking for 62.7% exactly. And to be honest that's not a good percentage
I do feel like sometimes they interrupt the guest, especially lama nkoun « serdin » ma3o. Give them time I guess and they will realise that.
