I can't say it often enough, you were born to teach my friend. You always put things in super clear terms and the order in which you layout how to play makes every game you teach just plain obvious.
I wish I had rules videos like this for all the games in my collection! I'm normally the "teacher" of my group and being able to watch rules videos like this gives me such a better understanding of how to play the game.
I've been itching to play this one for awhile now. I was able to pick up a used copy in a BGG auction. Thanks for the instructional video. It cleared up a few questions I had from reading the rule book. You're videos are a tremendous help, Rodney. Keep up the great work!
The presentation is amazing! You can really learn the game by this video alone and only visit the manual in extreme occasions. I love the work you are doing Rodney and you can really tell that this is fun for you too. I love your videos, they are far more entertaining than any of the "competition's". I'm looking forward for the gameplay action!
Hello from Brazil! I've been playing board games like crazy since I've discovered the "new wave" brought by Catan. As expected, I've watched thousands of videos, and, man, you're by far the one which better explain the game rules. Congrats 4 your work.
Just received my copy of Belfort yesterday and played it with my girlfriend last night. IT IS AWESOME!! I totally lost though lol... she kept killing me on the worker points. It is a pretty vicious game with two players and the wizards tower is fun and devious. Anyway thanx again Rodney I place a lot of value on what games you play. Keep it up!
I can't wait to watch this in full when I get home from work. Belfort is very pleasing graphically. I've stickered all of my pieces, so I'll sit down and play along with the video later today.
Rodney, it's been 2817 days since I first watched this video... but I have finally tracked down a reasonably priced copy of Belfort and I am so excited to get it to the table this weekend! Thanks again for introducing me to such a neat game that I get to own at last!
Looks like an interesting & fun game.. I look forward to future episodes. Fortunately I've finally managed to catch up on all your old episodes so I can finally 'join in' with this one! Fabulous work to date by the way, you have a wonderful family :)
Cool, Rodney, once again a superb explanation of the core rules! Every time I'm amazed as to how clearly you can convert the written rules to a video explanation. Looking forward to the 7 phases! Hopefully there will be a lot of orcs not returning their books on time! :-D (loved that one)
I"m someone who is just getting back into games and I've watched LOTS of videos on many channels and worker placement games have never interested me as they seem so difficult and the games pieces are usually quite boring looking. This game on the other hand seems more interesting as the board looks really good (and I like the odd 5 sided board instead of the typical rectangle) and the pieces look better than the typical different colored cubes used to represent everything. Watching this video it seemed a bit more fun to play. Thanks and I'm looking forward to watching the rest of the videos in this series.
Another great video bro! To tell you the truth, I'm not much a Euro/worker placement type of gamer, but it will be interesting to see how this is played out. Also, it's good to see that more publishers are partnering with you man.
Thanks for this great intro! The only thing im ungreatful about is that i now want most of the games youve played and because of that i will be ruined and have to get a bigger bookshelf to keep the games in and a bigger table to play them on. xD Looking forward for some gameplay of this! Keep up the good work.
I watched so many sessions in my gaming group from afar and never managed to actually play this. For the next I am prepared now - thanks! And the timing for the KS campaign couldn't be better :)
@@WatchItPlayed Yes, we did. We played several times and even got the expansion. Unfortunately it was one of the games that got culled from the collection when I had to do some auctions for medical expenses a couple of years ago.
Im intrigued. ive been coming across this game forever now and heard a lot of good things about it. i kept hesitating to get it coz it was a lot of info to process from what iv seen and it never really stuck. but now after watching this, it made so much more sense. Im afraid to watch the rest of the series since i might end up getting it after watching its entirety!!! Grrr
I am glad you have decided to do this game. I like this game. :) I hope that someday you will do a play of Pret-a-Porter on your channel. There is nothing more cutthroat than the fashion business and doing fashion shows. ;)
Trust a dwarf to become better at his job while drinking in a pub! Honestly, can't take them anywhere! :) Belfort looks intriguing. Not the kind of game I'd pick up without first seeing how it's played, but that's what WIP is for!
Well Rodney I am convinced that you have magical predictive powers! I played Belfort with two friends and my girlfriend again last night. It was the second time I played since I lost to my girlfriend and I won! But most of all my girlfriend came in dead last! Haha thank you for your blessing of a big win!
Heh, clerical error or a lack of faith... I see what you did there. Also, congratulations on 20 complete series! I can't believe it's been so many already. Looking forward to this one as well.
OKAY... starting THIS one next. And, as a preview of my actions: Over the next week or so I'll be watching this one and your next 2 or 3, which look to be a few shorter ones than normal, coming up... A Bioshock game (Bioshock is actually my all time favorite video game), .... Dungeon Roll, Decent...and a bunch of vids labeled with "GTS" (which I assume is some sort of convention). It'll be a nice new goal, to get through these next :)
Yeah, the GTS videos are kind of an odd one. I was invited by the company to come to their event and record some preview videos - so I was a bit at the mercy of the setting and the knowledge of the person who came to be on the video with me :)
Very nice video Rodney. Unlike Eminent Domain (which looks awesome) I don't think this game is for me but I'm looking very forward to the gameplay video.
Hunh, I've never heard of this game. It's very attractive. I've had trouble getting into worker-placement games since all the components are generally so dull and boring. I might be able to get into this one.
@@WatchItPlayed Haha, you're awesome for digging through this backlog Rodney. Thanks so much for being so instrumental to me getting into the hobby. Though I should send you the bill for these 400+ games. I never did get to try Belfort, but did come around on Worker Placements through my gaming evolution. Still not a favorite pure genre for me, but some standouts are Argent, Outlive and Energy Empire. Yokohama and Keyflower also if you count those. ;) Take care!
@@TylerDeLisle Sure do count those! And we're seeing a lot of blending between the genres now - hybrids of worker placement and other styles. Thanks for being with us all this time :)

Just backed the expansion at the COMBO level on Kickstarter so I can get a copy of the base game as well. Very exciting stuff!
I lurve how you line up all the resources all neatly. Ahh..soothes my OCD twitches ;o) Another great video, thank you!
Returning to this game and this rules video was extremely helpful yet again
Hey hey, very glad to hear it was still able to be helpful!
