  • DNMS, or "Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy" was developed by an EMDR therapist named Shirley Jean Schmidt who noticed that sometimes in her practice, EMDR alone wasn't helping to move trauma along well or in a productive way with her clients.
That's when she realized the differences in the types of trauma. When someone has experienced attachment wounds or childhood unmet needs (look for more info on this in my next video), that results in a different type of trauma than say a car accident, abuse, or divorce. So it makes sense that the treatment of these experiences needs to change as well.
See in this video series how DNMS is the foundation of trauma processess for attachment wounds and unmet childhood needs.

In therapy I use a combination of empirically validated and researched techniques for the treatment of trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, OCD, and treatment of eating disorders. The ideas from my videos are frequently adapted from multiple sources and are used in my own practice with my clients. Many of these techniques come from the founder of Brainspotting, David Grand, and from the work of EMDR creator and founder, Francine Shapiro. I am also Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) certified, and have an additional certification in Fitness and Nutrition Coaching from National Exercise Sports Training Association.
