- So I've decided to buy a 1972 Series 3 Jaguar E-Type Coupé as a restoration project with my Dad. In this first episode I give you a tour round and we get it on the road for the first time... with mixed results!
Hope you enjoy the first episode. Please leave a like, comment and subscribe if you do!

Thanks all for the very kind comments so far! Looking forward to creating and sharing Part 2 at some point down the line. Just a quick update with progress:
It's been a bit tricky getting any work completed over the last few weeks as my Dad is in the process of buying a new house to create a bespoke workshop for car restoration (with a ramp to alleviate some swearing!), so things have hit a bit of a wall currently, as there's not much point stripping the car down only for it to be transported a couple of weeks later. I'll keep you updated with everything as soon as I know more!
Just adding to this, I broke my collarbone a couple of weeks later so have been recovering from that too. Really hoping to have an update for you soon with this!
@@TomBrooksMedia Don't make the mistake so many people make when restoring an E-Type, make sure the clock is working when it's finished, a stopped clock ruins that great dashboard. There are people who can convert the clock to a quartz mechanism, makes it perfect.
Nice..thanks for posting
Love your work on GT Sport
Why does one feel that a father-son relationship is being put to the test here?
Great start Tom , i have a series 2 E Type and will be watching your progress with interest .
It's a great start! It drives, it stops, and sounds pretty good. That's three things my Jag' doesn't do! Guess you must have already serviced the Strombergs.
They've not actually been done properly in all honesty, though Dad has fiddled with them a bit here and there. After we strip the car down, I'll be sending them off to get refurbished..
Hmmm, like the look of your garage. Dad looks young !. Greta to have the help !!. Good choice of car.
Great car, love it.
Imagine if Tom arrived at the world finals in Monaco in this with Jimmy riding shotgun.
subscribed! awesome car!!!
Avoid becoming a missile in that car ;)
Or doing things that make you look bad!
Well, this didn't happen. Well done Tom.
It will be happening. For various reasons the car is in the same condition as it was in this video - however I'll be doing an update at some point soon.
I'm looking to buy one of these myself so will be following! Have you considered a LHD -> RHD conversion or would this entail too much work?
As mentioned in the video, a RHD conversion is on the cards currently. It just depends on how much it's going to cost, how much time will be need to be put in and whether or not the end result will be worth it!
Good luck with it Tom!
P.S. Do you still have the I30N?
Thank you. Yes, still have the i30N as my daily!
How's the V12 coming on ? or has it stalled.😁😁
It's very much a WIP at the moment John. My Dad is (still!) trying to move house, but that now finally seems to be heading in the right direction. I'm hopeful of getting another episode recorded and uploaded before Christmas.
How much
Very nice. Sorry, are you in the UK, because the steering wheel is located at the left ?
Thank you! Yes, I am located in the UK, however the car is an American import - hence the LHD layout. Considering a right-hand drive conversion during restoration, but I'm unsure about which route to take currently.
Tom Brooks Thanks a lot , I got it. It’s a wonderful car.
Good when you park up and get out though😉
Nice car. Audio is a bit quiet though.
Thank you. Aware of the audio issues and tried to rectify them in post-edit, however I'm using a Rode Shotgun mic and it doesn't pick up much unless you're talking directly into it - I'll aim to find a better solution for future videos.
