    The fact that humans knows how to make such ridiculously complex machinery and fabric and is able to make fabric so quickly and cheaply is just mind blowing.

    And I was thinking I, a disabled child in poverty could make a cotton shirt all by myself 💀

      I think you need to do more research on homemade spinning and weaving. It’s easier than you think. Even for disabled people.

    This used to happen in the US. Big Yank was one factory. It sent many a child through college without loans. It sent many a man and woman through retirement.

    People from impoverished communities around the world appreciate capitalism for the wealth it has generated and the higher standard of living it has produced. Without modern industrialism, we would still be living like my parents did when they were kids: a couple shirts a year that became hand-me-downs out of necessity. We shouldn't judge the state of the world by relative standards in wealthy nations, but by comparing nations to their own past.

    • @SrihariRadhakrishnanon
      @SrihariRadhakrishnanon 3 года назад +5

      India was one of the richest countries in the world at one point and a major trade hub. It was only impoverished during the wave of colonisation that stole from countries across the world to build the western world.

      @@SrihariRadhakrishnanon Interesting...Could you go into more detail? Like "stole from countries across the world". What was being stolen? How did they steal it?

    • @mauricecornforth1233
      @mauricecornforth1233 3 года назад +1

      those communities are impoverished *because* of capitalism, which is when a minority appropriates the result of labour of the majority. the wealth is generated not by "capitalism", but by the workers themselves. then it is stolen from them.
