Whitney Houston is the greatest singer of all time GOAT
No doubt!❤
@@xavierreese518 I know that’s right 🤌🏼
This was not rehearsed for this show. It was an impromptu addition- which makes it even more incredible. Just mesmerizing. You’re absolutely right- she was a STAR.
“Sing baby…” I love us 😂
Hey kitts
@@ryanhikes Hey Ryan boo! Hope you’re having a lovely day. ♥️
This is probably my favorite Whitney performance. The soul and beauty of her voice in this is just phenomenal. Completely outta this world
I may have to agree with you. Definitely in my top 3. I remember having this on VHS. I rewound her belting out "MY LO-OOOOOVE" so many times. I loved her.
Best vocalist of my time
Say it louder 🗣️
@@ryanhikes of ALL time
She’s truly to me the best vocalist to have ever lived. Her voice just makes me feel like no one else’s the amount of passion , love and soul in her voice is just incredible
This is one of my favorite performance of all time. She was a gift
❤
Whitney was the greatest to do it! I loved this reaction!
❤
❤
She is the best voice of all time.
I love the way you two dissect her style. There will never be another voice like hers.
It's all SOUL. Her heart on full display. Whitney was feeling that song and leading us through - it's more improvisational and deep than a lot of her repertoire. Conversational and Colossal, all at once. A mesmerizing performance that just happens to be a virtuosa vocal display. Sitting down. ❤
🫡🤌🏼
THAT IS SO TRUE‼️
Listening to Whitney Houston live is a humbling experience.
😂
11:28 You better preach Mike! Come thru with a very beautiful and poetic whole sermon. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🙌🏾
Mike :"It's like a tiny little glimpse of the expansiveness of the universe...✨️" carries on...
Joe: completely mesmerised 🥹🥹
Okay?! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙌🏽 He did that!!!
This one is always so emotional for me
❤
Whitney was trained in the black gospel tradition of singing. The way her band accompanies her is the way the band in church would accompany the choir and lead singer. It’s not “ in time” per se. It’s on rhythm. It’s hard to explain to someone who wasn’t raised in it but if you go to a black baptist church you will see it.
I was just about to comment the exact same thing!
11:26 Perfect explanation of The Whitney Houston Voice Experience - a sonic glimpse into the expansive mystical universe. Great expression my guy, thank you.
Whitney's band would improvise with her - but if you notice, she does little hand movements and gestures in certain performances when she's going to sustain a note, cut it off, etc. But her musical director was the legendary Rickey Minor (he went on to be the music director for American Idol and Leno).
Great choice for No2. Waiting patiently for these Whitney reactions every night. Your breakdowns or reactions are everything
I didn’t go for the best performances ever, more so my favourites:)
@@ryanhikes you little rascal! you did a number on these 2! my my, the way you put this together. this set of 6 performances changes DNA. enough to get one sent down the rabbit hole hopefuully. handing out the best performances on silver platter kinds misses the point. there is the whole asteroid belt full of precious metals to pick before you get to the real gems:) i think they may enjoy the ride into that universe. 🛰🪐I hope they will film it though because its been kinda fun to watch:)
man, it's awesome to watch you two literally transform and like GROW with each subsequent WH video. Ryan did a number on you heh: from like 'oh cool i,m starting to get what everyone is talking about-shes good - through. like 'oh what is happening, i have fuzzy feelings i dont recognise or understand' to now 'Ohhhhh..., i cant name it and i cant touch it... but i FEEL the PRESENCE of IT.'
It is astonishing to watch 🌠
also
you do make soo much sense
i hope you can see it 💥💫
This entire concert, "Welcome Home Heros" is Whitney at her peak and what’s funny is this was years before I Will Always Love U even came out!
There is only one Whitney- it’ll probably be another thousand years before we find another on her level
I concur with Mike´s description of the experience 🙌👊👏
A true master of her craft
ALL HAIL THE VOICE! 👑👑👑👑👑
Whitney at her best! Notice a couple of things here:
1. She generates an incredible amount of passion, emotions and amazing control, while not over' singing- very rare qualities
2. She usially become the song, whenever she performs.
We have to remember that in addition to her God given unmatched talent, this diva of all divas had in her time, some of the best producers, song writers and let's not forget, her amazing inmatched backing band. No wonder she is the owner of so many incredible songs!
Listen when you grow up in the church you learn very quickly how to be musically on one accord. Especially if it was Wednesday night praise and worship service and Sister Mabel decides to stand up and just start singing a song nobody else knew without any warning. 😂 The congregation, the band, and the praise/worship leaders all had to just catch the vibe. 🤣
I come here last month for whitney and i still here kekekek i love your vídeos !!!!
🇧🇷
Baaaaahhhhh!!!! Baaaaahhhhhh!!!! 🐐 🐐 🐐 💯💯💯
WHITNEY'S VOICE IS A PERFECT STORM BREWING SHE COMES IN THE BEGINNING OF HER PERFORMANCES LIKE A TROPICAL DEPRESSION BY THE TIME WE ARE MID SONG SHES AT A CAT 1 HURRICANE BY THE ENDING ITS A CAT 5 AND HURRICANE "WHITNEY " HAS MADE LANDFALL.🌀 #THEVOICE #THEGFSOAT #THEGREATESTLOVEOFALL #4EVERWHITNEYHOUSTON 💜💜💜👑
Great Analogy! 👏👏👏👏👏😉
I love Whitney, but you have to hear Donny Hathaway do it. His version (the originator) always has me in tears.
Donny was not the originator, but his version is sublime.
YAAAASSSSSSS……..you finally saw/heard this rendition. It’s so chilling and heartbreaking at the same time. Every time I catch it, I get goosebumps. You talked about the accompaniment and at one point after her big note…you can see her looking at the pianist….presumably to get the timing right on when she has to come back in with her singing.
Every time I hear this I find myself thinking it’s such a shame she and that voice are no longer with us. But that makes me appreciate it all the more.
Best female pop vocalist of the 20th century
I've waited so long for this moment, I love this song *-* s2
Me too
Your commentary is so sublime.
"when my life is over remember when we were together"- i will never forget when I saw Whitney upclose and she sang this song on tour in Rotterdam, i yelled out Whitney I love you! and she turned her head and said "Girls too? Well I must be in Holland" then she giggled
That was a whole race. Goosebumps and shit 😂
Definitely should check out Donny Hathaways version
In addition to her natural gift as a vocalist, Whitney's singing is spiritual upliftment.
No one dead or alive sings or can sing like this. The original was sung by George Benson, and it's theme is based on the gulf war.
Her vocsls here are impeccable and even more incredible, as this performance was an impromptu one- was never planned!!
A highly under--rated feature of Whitney's singing is the fact that she is a great story teller, which is one of the factors responsible for her ability to hold an audience's attention. Very few vocalist could have interacted with an audience in the same way she did!!
The greatest singer that ever lived!!
Whitney was a beast ❤
THE VOICE
Wasn’t on tour. It was the Divas Live tv special, in which Whitney headlined in 1999. Mary did say that this performance elevated her career in many ways.
Lucky number 6
Ariana…what are you doing here….? 😂
14:42 San Diego, You are welcome guys 🤎
Hey Swede King :) 😊
Please forgive me for saying in an earlier comment that the original of this song was done by George Benson.
It is actually Donnie Hathaway.
Whitney did a cover of George Benson's "Greatest Love of all" , which is what I got mixed up with "A Song for you"
My favorite version of this song is Donny Hathaway’s but this is a very very very *very* close second. Watching her sing this just tears me up inside. In a good way…

Donny Hathaway song, which is beautiful .The song originally written by Leon Russell ..
She had a perfect voice there was ugly in her voice and yes she had a band of the highest tier! She was a musical and vocal miracle! He beauty also takes there! Part of what may be fallin love with her vocally was her voice always did something she didn't even expect! And you marvel at it!
✨🕯️💫
Please do lisa fisher “ how can I ease the pain live” and be blown away you’re welcome lol
It’s mentally and emotionally taxing because given the current state of music and as a result, our collective decline of musical taste…we are no longer accustomed to witnessing greatness. We so used to seeing gimmicks and boobs, we don’t have an appetite or appreciation for true greatness anymore…btw Whitney was fully covered head to toe😂
Her Greatest love of all at the same concert... the ending note, I was like, how the hell she breathing?!?!!
React to it pls 😁😁
Also, Whitney and Mariah Believe on Oprah show
You guys have to react to Donny Hathaway's version, and some other songs of his. Such a warm beautiful tone he had.
React to Don’t Cry For Me, 1994.
I considered that one!
React to IWALY at the Grammys, 1994.
Y’all are dead on with your analysis of Whitney’s voice. It is so profoundly beyond comprehension to try and describe it is pointless. You just listen to her and let it go through you.
It's been two years, but here I am again. PLEASE react to Rosalía's album Motomami!!!
I love Whitney, have always loved Whitney and will always love Whitney, but am not particularly a fan of this cover. It's too drawn out and she's doing too much and the actual beauty of the song is tossed aside. She actually recorded a cover of this many years later, which was better constructed but her voice, unfortunately was not as in good condition as it was here. Nothing compared to Donny Hathaway's original. Pure perfection.
Love Whitney's voice but not her version of this song. Too much screaming for this song. Donny Hathaway captures the essence of the pain of this song. It's someone who has a hard time expressing themselves. Who yells nonstop when they are alone, singing this song.
Let’s be clear! Whitney isn’t screaming or yelling! Shes hitting BELTING NOTES
You are a dummy for stating this Anyone who is musically inclined know this is a masterpiece
She sang it the way she wanted to sing it and we loved it.
You must be white or Caribbean. Hush.
I have requested an exorcism and we will rebuke this madness!
